Hope Street Hotel40 Hope St, City Centre, L1 9DA Liverpool (Show map) Excellent, Score from 91 reviews“Hope Street is my all time favourite hotel. And I've stayed in a few. The all time best room I've ever stayed in was when I was upgraded to a split level suite. There was also a memorable "stand alone bath" moment. So all in all, it gets my 100% thumbs up. Love it. ”

The room was nice and the reception staff were very helpful. Breakfast was absolutely dreadful and the service in the restaurant very poor. I waited 45 minutes for a bowl of lumpy porridge, my coffee had droplets of oil floating in it (probably from the dirty cup it was served in) and no one brought milk / sugar. My "mushrooms on chunky buttered toast" was one mushroom on 2 slices of damp toasted mother's pride. And the staff in the restaurant really didn't care.

The hotel was good, room service good. Saturday night resturant was shut, credit card was charged 50 pounds a night for any extras but was not told about this so still waiting for the 100 pounds to go back in to my account.

Loved the Hope Street Hotel...location was ideal for the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall..just across the road...and just a few minutes walk into the town/central station...a very modern room and huge comfortable bed ...breakfast was scrummy..would definately stay there again.

We have stayed at the Hope st Hotel before and really like the comfort and high class design and location of it. We live in up holland and at this price it is cheaper to stay here at this price rather than struggle to get home in taxis. The Georgian quarter is absolutley fabulous and I am very proud to come from Liverpool. Until next time.....

The location suited us very well (it's just across the road from the Philharmonic Hall, where we going for a concert). It's a clever conversion from its former use as industrial/commercial premises. The Reception is welcoming and impressive, with a pleasant bar right next door leading through to the restaurant. A good atmosphere on arrival. The bedroom was missing a few details, such as a stand for a suitcase, room to store clothes other than hanging garments and (in the en suite) a lavatory brush. The bath/shower taps were of that technical design that can be described as "too clever for their own good" - and, true to form, they didn't work. Reception obligingly knocked a bit off the room- rate when the maintenance-guys hadn't managed to rectify the problem by the time we checked out.

The simplicity of the design of the hotel is one of the most attractive features for me. The rooms are very comfortable but uncluttered and, considering it is a city hotel, the noise levels are minimal. We had a meal in the dining room on the previous evening and the food was superb. It is the hotel that I would always want to stay in for future visits. Considering the overall quality of the hotel, I did find the breakfast arrangements slightly confusing - having to make the toast and queueing to do so reminded me of budget hotels we have stayed in abroad but not a problem, once I realised that I had to make the toast myself!

I liked the simple, modern design and decor of the hotel. I liked the Ren toiletries, although I would have expected a body lotion at that price. The location was excellent. Problems: the floor I stayed on was a mezzanine and the lift did not reach it. I was not offered any help with my luggage. There was no parking available at the hotel when I arrived. The corridor was echoey and I could hear other guests moving about and talking, which disturbed me.

Just everything, from the minute we stepped into the hotel it felt like home. The staff were absolutely first class and did everything to make our stay very special. Carly in particular was excellent in helping to make our visit very comfortable for both my husband and myself. This is a first class place and more like visiting friends than an hotel. We will certainly be visiting again and have already told our friends and family about it. Thank you to everyone at the hotel for our stay and hopefully see you all soon. None whatsoever, it was first class.

The Hotel has a good entrance and decor was excellent all round The bar, lounge and dining areas were warm but we found the bedroom (102) quite cold, we could find no means of quick heat. Although the Thermostat read 20c . Service for dinner at 2.15 pm was exceptionally slow, - we are patient people but we waited 30 mins for our main course and similar time for desert. Bar service in the evening was excellent as was breakfast next morning.

Elegantly designed and very comfortable, this hotel is opposite the Philharmonic Hall. If the Philharmonic isn't your destination, it is a little way from the heart of the city centre. Breakfast was excellent. Checking in/out could be a little slow.

Location in Liverpool and accessibility to Philharmonic Hall. The restaurant is excellent for breakfast through to dinner but we were disappointed that it was fully booked both evenings of our stay. Next time we will book table in advance.

Hotel was stunning design with oak floors and glass sculptures in the dining room. Staff where pleasant and helpful with car parking and directions. The location is good with philharmonic hall and philharmonic pub across the road, both worth a visit! You can easily walk into city center from here within minutes. The two cathedrals are either end of the street and try to view them both as they are both beautiful buildings and gardens. Also recommend host chinese restaurant across the road on corner of falkner st. For fabulous food at good prices.

Myself and a friend stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. I loved the location, a beautiful part of Liverpool, away from the more obvious tourist attractions. Lovely restaurants and cafes near by. The hotel was busy, but you would never have known it, allowing for a very relaxing stay. The only criticism I would have would be that we were not allowed breakfast 10 mins after the stated time on the first morning, when we saw guests were allowed this flexibility the second morning. Also the water was to hot in the shower, but this was fixed soon after I raised it with staff. The controls on the shower were v difficult to understand. Directions for use would be helpful.

Thought the hotel and bedroom was comfortable and overall good value. The London Carriage Restaurant was a big disappointment. Drafty and with a cold atmosphere. The menu/food is pretenious and I would strongly recommend not to have the pork - it was cold, chewy and a rip-off!

The staff are very friendly, efficent and polite. At reception, they remembered me from almost two years before. The hotel is compact but very clean and modern making best use of space. The rooms are excellent and always spacious, spotless and never tired looking. Bathrooms excellent; walk in shower very good. I love the smell of the reed carpetting in the corridors. The "Liverpool Breakfast" is the very best English breakfast I have had in any hotel; they have not succumbed to the buffet style for the hot food, and it is a masterpiece. Top quality. I would never wish to stay anywhere else if going to Liverpool. top marks. The bar closes far too early. When I stayed, there appeared to be a total failure of the beer pumps - no doubt temporary - bar staff very friendly however. I do find the large decorative glass shards in the dining room a bit disconcerting and I will no doubt walk into one, one day. Very pretty though. Dont expect a great view from your room.
