Overall ambience of the hotel. Great staff. Very nice rooms, comfy beds.

Breakfast is far too expensive, especially with the competition across the road.

Service was excellent. Reception were brilliant and nothing was too much bother. Room was a great size and we were upgraded to a larger room without asking.

The room was quite dusty and could have been given more attention from a cleanliness perspective. The bathroom door glass was dirty and a few other minor details. Although I did tell reception on check out and they were very efficient on taking my comments.

We loved the clean fresh lines, the wood floors and the lovely bathroom. The room was very comfortable and had tea/coffee making, hairdryer etc. All the staff were extremely friendly & helpful.

The room could have had a safe and the curtains didn't cut out the light, but apart from these two small things we had a very enjoyable stay and will be back.

Loved the style, the location and the history. We were even upgraded to a suite with fantastic views over the city which was an unexpected anniversary bonus! We're already looking for another excuse to stay!

Got a room on the ground floor which while it was perfectly reasonable I think the rooms on the higher floors may have been even nicer.

The room was as advertised, spacious and gorgeous

This is the fourth time we have been to the hotel and we return because of the location, facilities and the friendly approach adopted by the staff. All are welcoming and willing to talk without being ingratiating or overly-solicitous. This time we were upgraded from a deluxe to a suite. This gave us a separate lounge area and very large bathroom. The deluxe rooms are always well equipped and spacious with good range of facilities for staying in. The views of Liverpool and the river from the suite were stunning. The restaurant provides excellent breakfasts. It is advisable to book evening meals as it is a very popular venue and produces delicious meals drawing on locally resourced products.

The bathrooms look inviting and modern in style but there are some flaws - towel rails are not close to sinks, baths are too deep and take a while to fill as the water flows quite slowly. But these are minor quibbles about a very welcoming hotel.
