Loved the lounge area with big comy sofas, stunning views at breakfast from the dining room
Hot water and shower
Almost perfect hotel!
I do not like being ignored by haughty waiting staff who have not learned the art of acknowledging customers or smiling.
Very relaxed and looks amazing inside
The room could of been updated
Excellent stay at the horizon staff very pleasant nothing is a problem food lovely scenery excellent
Nothing everything great
excellent for the price breakfast lovely
Warm welcome, easy check-in. bags carried to the room, shown how to operate multi function security card. Staff member closed room curtains and checked that heating was correctly set.
There was nothing at The Horizon Hotel that would incur a negative revue. On a "Star" rating they would be 5*
Great staff except for breakfast waitress that never smiled throughout the hour I sat in restaurant...that aside all other staff were fantastic
Unfortunately the room I reserved was unavailable and the one provided was not one I would have reserved no matter the cost
Very clean hotel , staff lovely, food was good, comfy bed
Decor was a bit outdated, no sea view frim bedrooms
Free parking, great staff, clean big room
My seafood pasta could have done with some shellfish instead of just salmon and smoked haddock
Enjoyed the sea view. Reception, bar, dining room were modern and clean. Breakfast was good. Staff were pleasant.
The bedroom windows had black mould. The bed valances were a bit grubby. The en suite was very small.
Loved our stay and would definitely go back
Was there for a wedding. everything went well plus the staff was very helpful. The lift was a great benefit as my partner has problems walking.
Toilet in room was very small plus the towel rail was close the toilet pan and was red hot all the time. Could lead to a nasty accident? Room really HOT for the whole of our stay.
This is a very appealing hotel with a good balance of modern decor and old fashioned charm. A real 'family feel' with all staff very welcoming and attentive. Restaurant food is excellent and rooms are clean, comfortable and nicely decorated
Liked the look of the hotel, decent room and facilities with a lovely restaurant and views across to Arran.
Struggled to get checked out early as no one on reception at 7am and rooms are nice but construction a bit flimsy - could see light under door into corridor and sounded like people were practically walking through your room as they walked down the corridor!
my cousin and i were booked to go here last sat but she took ill and we didnt get i phoned the hotel they cdnt have been nicer we only lost our deposit as it was the morn of our trip they cd have charged us full price but didnt so a big thank you to the horizon people with hearts but hopefully we will get there at some point
Seaview location breakfast
the staff were very helpful to myself and my husband who is disabled. It is a very good location, easy to get to the beach and shops.
Room 3 was very nice and had a walk in shower which suited our needs. It was however a little cold in the afternoon but we were aware that the heating was on a timer
I stayed at the Horizon on the Ayr beachfront for three nights in a lovely sunny double bay-windowed room. It was an excellent position, only a short distance from the town centre, and with a wonderful view of the sea and coastline (and islands if not too hazy or foggy!) Staff were, without exception, friendly, patient and helpful. The dining room and meals were great. I dined in each night and fell in love with the lime and blackcurrant cheesecake!
Parking in the hotel courtyard was hard to come by but public parking was available directly opposite the hotel so it wasn't a huge issue. Staff standing smoking below my open window was a bit annoying.
Situated in a wonderful location on the Esplanade and close the gardens and the beach there is easy access to all Ayr's amenities and the town centre. The hotel is comfortable and clean and there is a good choice on the menue and the breakfast is outstanding value. Will definately be back.
Only disappointment was the lumpy bed which made for a restless nights sleep. Need new mattresses.
The breakfast was good.
But the staff was a little bit rude. I think a training should be provided on politeness with guests staying at the hotel.
Room comfortable, breakfast very nice. Nice position on beach but walking distance to town centre.
Advertised wifi unavailable in my room at the bottom end of hotel. This was inconvenient as there was also no 3G signal in room which restricted me as I had specifically booked with wifi. I did mention it but nothing done. Suggest you request an upstairs room.
Room even though it is small it was nice and clean, Good breakfast! Bar and Resturant very nice!
Thought £150 per night was too much! No Mirror in bedroom! Toilet/Shower very small! and no room in bedroom for a small table to sit at! Putting the price aside we did like the Room/Hotel and the location and Have booked again in April 2015 because its £80 per night and reckon that is a more realistic price, delighted with that and looking forward to staying again!
Food was lovely as was location
The whole stay was a pleasure
