The bed was comfortable & room was lovely & warm on available
The pool was so cold & think the food it over price Wi-Fi did keep unconnected & What with old box TV & only 5 channel.
Spacious clean room . Good breakfast.
Very overpriced restaurant with limited menu.
Friendly welcome. Lovely "catch of the day" very well cooked and tasty. Great breakfast Location Gym, pool and sauna.
doors a bit thin.. entertaining noises from young couple across the corridor... They were obviously having a very good time. Difficult to find room arriving tired after a long day. Bar prices!!!
extrenely small rooms - I think premnier Inn rooms are bigger
Grounds and staff
It is a large hotel, to reach our room was quite a challeng. Avoid rooms with numbers of 500 + Wine in the bar was expensive at £7.60 a glass. Large conference hotel !!
The main building was nice and the setting
Our room was apauling it was more like a poor 2 star motel room. the wallpaper was hanging off the ceiling the decor was 1980's dated as was the furniture and the very large old fashioned tv. The bathroom was digusting all black around the bath and tiles. The door handles were once gold now all peeled off. The room felt old and dirty the windows was so high there was no view as described when I book. the room was definately not a 4 star and we were not pleased at all. had I know the quality of the room I would never have booked it and will never go there again.
Restaurant was good for dinner and breakfast. Staff there very helpful. Main building bar was pleasant for after dinner drinks ... A long way to walk!
Room was small and we had to walk a long way with luggage to reach it. Very busy place with weddings and meetings so access to public rooms restricted at times during our stay. Wi if is free but need to check if voucher is for full stay or you face a trek back to reception for subsequent days.
Deceptive marketing, lovely old house, but thats just reception, after that its a big 'faceless' training hotel. Rooms very small and black stains in the bathroom. Bathroom extraction on all night and kept me awake. Breakfast waiter was actually eating, had his mouth full as he served our table!
Main part of hotel.Adequate parking.Hotel grounds/gardens
Bedrooms in additional/extensions.Superior rooms not superior.Breakfasts only rate a standard level.
free wifi nice pool great barman
check in staff was in training and made it difficult - should be better trained before messing up with customers also vodafone signal non existent in accomm wing
Look of original House Gym, pool, sauna, garden & grounds
Beautiful building and area
8 pounds for a cheese board with 3 crackers. Asked for some more crackers got told that I've got more than most. Lol . We left early didn't feel welcome and far too expensive
We had a good memory of staying in the hotel with a beautiful garden and country ,landscape surrounded. Lots of resource. Although the facility is a bit old, but has a value for money and a more luxurious. We would like to come again.
Can be noise if you have noisy neighbour. Easy to get lost inside.
Area,walks, swimming pool,
The setting and the historical loo of the hotel.
Size of the room considering we're given a double executive as they'd run out of doubles. Booked via booking.com for 2 adults and a child. Our son had to sleeping the floor. Tried to charge us £15 each for breakfast the next day!
Restaurant was very ordinary
On arrival I asked if I could get room service as I had work to do. I was told that this was no problem. On entering my room there were no menus so I headed to the bar. I was then told that due to KPMG holding an event that the chefs had been comadered and that I could only have the full menu. I was then told that if I waited they may rustle a sandwich up! 45 mins later and no response. Very poor! On top of that the noise from the corridors that night was unbelievable ! Residents running up and down corridors ! I'm still awaiting a response as promised by reception.
The hotel looks nice with an impressive driveway
The room was tatty. Curtains hanging off the rails. Holes in the plaster. Hooks hanging out the wall. Peeling wall paper.Bathroom dated which is ok but needs attention.
The position. The food was good.
The bar wasn't very welcoming. The room was featureless - bit like Premier Inn. An hour wifi seems a bit mean. Had the feel of a conference centre which I suppose it was.
Bar staff and restaurant staff tried hard. Menu choice was good
Booking in took in excess 45 mins due to the queue Room was disgusting Food was overcooked No taps working on the bath...complained and got told to send an e-mail!! Seemed geared up for wedding paties and little else
The old majestic house itself which incidentally is not the main part! The conference centre and bedrooms in the new building is where most things are and what was once probably good is now falling way off the mark.
A huge 38% off really but I struggled to justify the £62 having had more space and better service in a Travelodge! Marked chair, runner, bath and things fallen off cleaners trolley outside welcomed me to the room.
Complicated layout and lengthy corridors, small room, place is far from everything, prevoius guest's hair in the shower, expensive...
Nice setting in peaceful grounds. Good swimming pool and leisure facilities
Not much sound-proofing between rooms. As there were a couple of wedding receptions the weekend we stayed, there was some late night noise from guests after the receptions had finished
staff very efficient
had a bit of a walk to our bedroom which wasn't a bother but then our key didn't work in the door. no reception on our phone but luckily someone else was having trouble opposite us and they rang through to reception. The matter was dealt with quickly and efficiently.
Lack of attention by staff, we felt like we were an inconveinance
