The hotel looks nice with an impressive driveway
The room was tatty. Curtains hanging off the rails. Holes in the plaster. Hooks hanging out the wall. Peeling wall paper.Bathroom dated which is ok but needs attention.
The position. The food was good.
The bar wasn't very welcoming. The room was featureless - bit like Premier Inn. An hour wifi seems a bit mean. Had the feel of a conference centre which I suppose it was.
The old majestic house itself which incidentally is not the main part! The conference centre and bedrooms in the new building is where most things are and what was once probably good is now falling way off the mark.
A huge 38% off really but I struggled to justify the £62 having had more space and better service in a Travelodge! Marked chair, runner, bath and things fallen off cleaners trolley outside welcomed me to the room.
Complicated layout and lengthy corridors, small room, place is far from everything, prevoius guest's hair in the shower, expensive...
Nice setting in peaceful grounds. Good swimming pool and leisure facilities
Not much sound-proofing between rooms. As there were a couple of wedding receptions the weekend we stayed, there was some late night noise from guests after the receptions had finished
staff very efficient
had a bit of a walk to our bedroom which wasn't a bother but then our key didn't work in the door. no reception on our phone but luckily someone else was having trouble opposite us and they rang through to reception. The matter was dealt with quickly and efficiently.
Lack of attention by staff, we felt like we were an inconveinance
The restaurant was fantastic the staff and food were faultless I would definitely recommend. The bedroom is quite shabby but clean and comfortable.
When you pull up it's stunning and the staff are great but it's like a maze to find the bedrooms and they are shabby compared to pictures. The changing room to the pool needs completely revamping they are awful.
nice countryside surroundings and driveway
no facility to dine before 8.45pm when we arrived at 7pm. bar snacks were very poor
Reception building and grounds are nice but accommodation is basically travel-lodge out the back. Were able to provide food (a cold sandwich) after 11pm for a £5 delivery charge.
Wedding party continued their party in the rooms and corridors till 2am - shouting, singing, banging door, running up and down the corridors! My worse nights sleep in a long-time. Don't stay here if you have a long drive the next morning.
Facilities and location of the hotel are very good if like me you like being out in the country.
The food was poor quality, the chips were undercooked and hard, the batter on the fish was chewy, the second night was not better to the first, which is a shame as the quality used to be much better.
The breakfast was good
The rooms were very basic, the hotel was soulless and the noise in the corridors from guests attending a wedding function went on until 4am so we got little sleep.
The starter and desert
The Head waitress was miserable, unapproachable and sour faced. The lady that took our room number at breakfast yawned for the hour that we were there and did not smile once. The size of the main meals were pathetic. We ate at the pub the following night.
We loved the location and being right in the country. The staff were all friendly and helpful and their breakfast was fantastic! We would definately go back there if in the area.
bedroom was very small and although two people staying only enough towels and pillows for one! Menu in the restaurant was appalling? Paid half board for chicken soup and a beefburger. Not value for money at all. Looked lovely from the outside but inside it was nothing at all. The travel lodge down the road would have been better value for money..The free wi fi was a joke and gave up. Also the tv in the room was from the 70's!! Never again | am afraid and would ask for my money back if I could!!
Buffet Dinner on the Saturday night, excellent choices and standard. Staff were very professional, including the very young waiters and waitresses. Impressed. Very comfy room, well appointed.
Horwood House is a beautiful and comfortable hotel in lovely surroundings. The staff were extremely helpful. Initially we were unable to connect to Wi-Fi, so we asked at reception and a member of staff came to our room to help us to connect to the Wi-Fi. Great service.
The only thing we were a little bit disappointed about was that the staff started clearing breakfast away at 9am. However, they continued to be very helpful and allowed us to eat as much breakfast as we wanted.
Breakfast & friendly staff
It's a very large hotel and it was a VERY long walk from reception to our room.
Bed was comfortable.
Disabled parking was a long way from the reception. Receptionist didn't seem interested in checking me in. Given our room key and a map on how to get to the room which was a trek away from the reception. Up and down stairs with bags wasn't a particularly nice start, even though the receptionist said the room was "on the level in which we entered the building". She lied. Any way you went in and out of the hotel, there was steps which isn't good when you've had a knee operation! Room was excessively hot so we opened the window at which point we were deluged with flying insects.
The hotel has a great location, quite, very clean, nice staff, nice pool and facilities. Great wedding location, good food at the restaurant, gorgeous gardens.Perfect for relaxing over the weekend.
Room was a bit small.
Location of hotel, gym/pool/sauna were great, breakfast-plenty of choice.
Poor selection for evening meals. Also our rooms were a bit dated, situated in what I assume was the old stable block which was perfect for us they were in need of updating-definitely not worth the nightly rate we paid.
Location and setting was great Ideal for weddings and conferences Family get togethers Reception helpful and friendly
Room was too small Room numbers slightly confusing Restaurant was a bit too large and would be nice to maybe have a second choice for breakfast in a quieter environment Slightly tired looking in places
Nice location and pool.
Noisy room over boiler but moved when requested without fuss.
All staff excellent Very willing and cheerful bar staff, good restaurant staff and nice food, Beautiful grounds Good tennis courts Good pool and sauna
Surprisingly small bedroom with minute double bed, all very cramped. Bathroom very cheap and in extremely poor repair. If you want a romantic time make sure you book in the house not the conference accommodation which very disappointing.
Friendly hotel staff. Clean rooms and facilities. Good food in restaurant. Good pizza via room service,
Did not like that you had to check out personally if you wanted your VAT receipt (most hotels will give this on sign-in or slip under your door before you leave in the morning). Terrible Wi-Fi reception. Terrible TV reception (and very few channels, no satellite/pay TV) The hotel is a veritable maze and wall signs (e.g. to car-park) do not guide you very well.
