Breakfast & friendly staff
It's a very large hotel and it was a VERY long walk from reception to our room.
The hotel has a great location, quite, very clean, nice staff, nice pool and facilities. Great wedding location, good food at the restaurant, gorgeous gardens.Perfect for relaxing over the weekend.
Room was a bit small.
Location of hotel, gym/pool/sauna were great, breakfast-plenty of choice.
Poor selection for evening meals. Also our rooms were a bit dated, situated in what I assume was the old stable block which was perfect for us they were in need of updating-definitely not worth the nightly rate we paid.
Location and setting was great Ideal for weddings and conferences Family get togethers Reception helpful and friendly
Room was too small Room numbers slightly confusing Restaurant was a bit too large and would be nice to maybe have a second choice for breakfast in a quieter environment Slightly tired looking in places
Nice location and pool.
Noisy room over boiler but moved when requested without fuss.
All staff excellent Very willing and cheerful bar staff, good restaurant staff and nice food, Beautiful grounds Good tennis courts Good pool and sauna
Surprisingly small bedroom with minute double bed, all very cramped. Bathroom very cheap and in extremely poor repair. If you want a romantic time make sure you book in the house not the conference accommodation which very disappointing.
Friendly hotel staff. Clean rooms and facilities. Good food in restaurant. Good pizza via room service,
Did not like that you had to check out personally if you wanted your VAT receipt (most hotels will give this on sign-in or slip under your door before you leave in the morning). Terrible Wi-Fi reception. Terrible TV reception (and very few channels, no satellite/pay TV) The hotel is a veritable maze and wall signs (e.g. to car-park) do not guide you very well.
I loved the outside if the hotel I thought it was very impressive . Unfortunately the inside was dated and tired looking. Rooms were confusing and hard to find
The look of the hotel from the front.
The Premium room was no better than a standard room and was deeply dissapointing. It was small and had no airconditioning and was minimally furnished. The hotel looked great from the front but once through the original period building, the hotel was distinctly average. There were 3 wedding parties at the hotel and the normal hotel guests were treated as second class. The only restraunt service was a buffet service which was OK but not outstanding.
Close to where we wanted to be i.e Winslow. Beautiful, quiet location. Decent car park. Restaurant staff were very kind & friendly. Food was very good too.
Our bargain room was, not too surprisingly, quite small.
as above- well satisfied
The front part of the house is beautiful as are the tennis courts and gardens. The breakfast was very good as were the breakfast staff. The head of house keeping was genuinely concerned about the noise from the pipes and was not aware of it.
I did not like the cobwebs on the room, water leaking out of the back of the toilet, hair all around the sides of the bathroom. But worst all was the noise 5 minuets after somebody flushed a toilet. It was like a massive very loud thunder storm that went on for around 7 minuets. The reception staff who could not care less about anything going wrong anywhere.
The old house is lovely in lovely grounds. Staff were very friendly. Young maître d' in restaurant couldn't do more for his customers and young helpful staff in restaurant.
Very dark and dingy. Restaurant in dingy brown colours, very bland beige rooms. Bar decor also horrible and no atmosphere which in an old building should have been full of character. No insulation between rooms which made it noisy. It is really a conference centre rather than hotel for leisure.
Enjoyable stay in pleasant surroundings, food was good as we're facilities.
Could not connect to wifi
Setting was gorgeous
Rooms were in modern part rather than manor house. Smallest room we've ever stayed in. Leisure facilities are quite shabby and need a makeover. No towels - had to come back up to room to get one. Men have to memorise a code to get back in to their changing rooms after using facilities.
Beautiful old house and gardens. Quiet location.
Low quality mattress and bathroom maintenance poor.
I had to sleep on on small double bed with my husband and baby. Very uncomfortable and definatelty not worth the room rate I paid. No mini fridge no water in the room! Terrible!
Cheerful receptionist Good breakfast
Fire alarm sounded then stopped at about 6am with no explanation Bit shabby Smelly plumbing
We had a nice stay. Staff friendly, room basic but comfortable.
Phone signal in the whole area was poor but be managed.
Staff were friendly and helpful and the room was clean, albeit very small and basic for £139 per night.
Food was generally very poor. Ate in the restaurant on Friday evening only of a two night stay. My wife's 'Award winning' steak and ale pie had certainly won no accredited awards, and my 'house speciality' seemingly was to cook the chicken breast until there was zero moisture left in it. Not what to be expected when spending nearly £80 with a bottle of average wine. Breakfast the following morning also pretty disappointing.
OK so it's a bit rambling to get around inside and Ok so you need SatNav to find it, but what a haven when you're there. As for value for money it scored 12 out of 10 for us.
Beautiful driveway approach to stunning mansion house. Equally stunning reception and lounge area. Good value for money overall and this would be the only reason I would recommend it.
The hotel felt fake, like something from Universal Studios or a film set! The stunning reception area was a facade for a myriad of 'Travel Lodge' type rooms accessed via endless corridors which also housed conference & meeting rooms. Reception staff appeared disinterested & gave conflicting information to requests. Rooms need updating, the bath panel was warped and coming away from the bath and our room was a tiny double with what appeared to be a tiny bed! Drink prices are exorbitant with noisy, drunken conference revellers spoiling any atmosphere for a late night drink. The Wifi code changes daily and you have to traverse the endless corridors to reception to collect the new code, wifi reception however was intermittent at best. Housekeeping was minimal, I stubbed my toe leaving blood on the duvet cover which remained for the last few days until we left. Used glasses not washed and basic tea & coffee supplies. It served the purpose for us to travel into London via train but we won't be rushing back!
Beautiful house and setting and a great view from our bedroom.
The changing rooms were a little outdated and could do with a good clean.
The location was great and staff very helpfull
The house was gorgeous, in a lovely remote session. There were weddings going on for the whole weekend yet we still could hear none of the noise. The room was excellent very clean and free wifi, bed was the most comfortablest bed I had ever slept in and hand the best nights sleep.
