On top of Kirkley Cliff, overlooking Lowestoft’s award-winning Blue Flag beach, Hotel Victoria is less than a mile south of the center of town. Built in 1897, the hotel has a Victorian exterior and a bright, modern decor inside. The Victoria has free Wi-Fi, free parking and some of its bedrooms have a sea view. Being upgraded to a truly magnificent room overlooking the beach and sea. Only staying one night! A few nights with my wife would have been ideal.

Excellent location. Staff very helpfull. Breakfast and bar food very good . We booked a deluxe room and the price included bath robes and a fruit basket which were not in room when we arrived. However, this was quickly resolved by the receptionist. The standard of cleanliness and quailty of furnishings could be improved to qualify as 'deluxe' - the room contained a modern four poster bed which was not a specific requirement of ours, but the canopy was covered in dust and the curtains at the windows of the room were in need of repair. Apart from this, the room and facilities were good and we enjoyed our stay.

I was really impressed with my room. It was lovely to have a sea view, the bed was really comfortable and it was a nice touch to have hot chocolate, biscuits, and nice toiletries too. My evening meal and breakast the next morning were both delicious, and the staff were really nice too.

The food was excellent - simple - typical English Roast Beef, and Locally caught Fish for the fish pies. I had stayed here 30 years ago and memory lane was just around the corner.

The location - on Kirkley Cliff above the beach in this much underrated seaside town. It's actually one of England's best beaches and Lowestoft has sun for much of the year so a good choice for winter sun. There are also some good places to eat. The Victoria's restaurant is excellent. Sea view rooms and the sunrise. The staff are friendly. The rooms are a little drab (cream paint and green flooring in the bathroom) and utilitarian rather than luxurious. Beds with sheets and blankets have to be well-made (bottom sheets smoothed etc..) to be comfortable. Duvets (we had one on the campbed provided for our ten year- old) would make a difference. The shower was difficult to get working and the tiled surround to the sink meant the mirrors were at an awkward distance. This would be ok if the room plus breakfast wasn't costing us £160 a night (£10 charge for the extra bed). It's not the Lowestoft way, I know, but a little luxury and more attention to comfort and design wouldn't go amiss.

Friendly staff, good breakfast choice, nice views and location. There was a function in the restaurant resulting in very loud music in my room, I was told by staff it would finish by 9.30, however it continued until after 11pm. There was also not enough parking, resulting in me having to park on the road quite a way away from the hotel.

Close proximity to a lovely, clean and quiet beach. Nice breakfast and friendly staff, very clean and spacious bedrooms. Room was a little old-fashioned and window blind in bathroom wouldn't work.

The breakfast was amazing - freshly cooked, excellent. The bedrooms are "tired" and could do with updating, especially at the price.

Perfect location next to the beach. Room large and comfortable with a lovely sea view. The only thing that spoiled our stay was the restricted breakfast hours. We were told on arrival that breakfast was served until 9.30 but when we went down at 9.15 they had finished serving. We checked the menu and it said 7.00 - 9.00. Plenty of staff around but we were only offered toast and coffee. This spoiled our stay because we had a long drive ahead of us that day. When I complained management reduced the bill by 15.00.
