What a bargain this hotel turned out to be! We stayed on a Saturday night and got free parking and breakfast included in the price. Fantastic location and its close proximity to the town centre - what a pretty place Kings Lynn is - the walk by the river coupled with the free museum and the local history (and pubs!) all near by made it a wonderful place to stay. Hotel refurbishment is almost complete and has been really well done. All the staff were very pleasant. Plenty of tables in the dining room and the breakfast was good value too.

The hotel was clean and well maintained. Great location. Parking was a pain as the staff entrnce should be open to visitors to walk through rather than walking around the building every time. Good rnge of restaurants and local attractions. We were not rushed by staff to leave and this was good. We were made to feel welcome. That lift is too noisy and needs a lick of paint and new carpet. The hallways were cluttered with smelly bed linen left from the day before and it was unecessary. The scrambled egg had large clumps of shell in it on 2 days running even after we complained. The reception staff could do with training. When I called up I was constantly told to wait as they were dealing with customers- hello I am a customer also. Slow check in proceedure at 2pm only one till open needed more staff at checkin. Breakfast should be loclly sourced not supermrket cheap- susages and eggs were basic nd could be better-no ide how to make fried eggs as they were burnt.

Value for money, comfortable bar and lounge areas, close to shops and resteraunts. There is not a good first impression of the hotel when you park in the car park behind the hotel. It looks dingy and unkempt, and we were greeted by drunken youths around the side of the hotel.

Room was newly reburbished and kitted out to a 3-4 star standard. Shower only but that was ok and big. Centrally located on tuesday market square in the centre of king's lynn. Public areas all freshly reburbished and to a 3-4 star standard. Nice big lcd tv, tea, coffee even hot choc. And six biscuits, luxury. I could not find any fault with the room, usually I find something that annoys me. Even the toilet paper was a quilted, up market type. 10/10 for the room. The public lift was a bit shabby and old fashioned. The hotel car parking was a bit tight for a big car. But it was free to park so I can not grumble. The exterior of the 1960/70's hotel block is less than appealing, but once inside it is of a high standard. iIdid not stop for dinner as the resturant was a bit of a gold fish bowl and had a strong fishy smell. Although it was full of happy customers.

Convenient central location and comfortable room. Bar and restaurant looked welcoming but I didn't use them. Can't think of anything. I didn't use any hotel facilities at all apart from the room.

It's central location and free car park made it ideal for my stay in Kings Lynn Despite the recent refurbishment, some of the corridor floors were very spongy underfoot indicating a possible dampness problem. The breakfast charging system allowed two people to charge their breakfasts to my room but fortunately for me I was able to sort it out.

The lounge area is very welcoming - a good place to relax with a coffee, tea or evening drink. The restaurant is very good with a new food manager who is very keen to improve the profile. Breakfast on Saturday morning was disappointing - no fresh fruit or pastries but on Sunday there was fresh fruit salad and a choice of pastries as well as full English breakfast if required. The lift is very dated and it's a shame there is no direct access to the hotel from the car park.

I know the hotel very well (30 years) and I was pleased to see that from its run-down appearance at my last visit it has been tastefully and very successfully refurbished. There are now more staff and most importantly nice staff. On previous visits the quality of some of the staff was unacceptable (I.E. rude.) It was nice to see that the lounge is now busy thus providing a pleasant atmosphere. The suites at the front of the building are very well appointed. The Gryffins cafe hasn't quite got it right yet. It was a question of a fried breakfast or not much else. No cold meats, no cheese, no boiled eggs and no porridge on offer. Marmelade but no other choice. On the second day, breakfast was better but on day one, apart from the above list, there was no fruit bowl, no croissants, no fried eggs (until our breakfast was over.) However the staff say that there are changes in the wind.

Good location in town centre, excellent facilities, smart, clean modern rooms. Friendly, helpful staff and good value. The hotel lift was very noisy and "clunky". The room we had on the third floor was only one away from the lift shaft and it was possible to hear the lift operating, which was a bit unfortunate. Further away it would not have been a problem.

The newly refurbished Dukes Head is stunning. The biggest problem however, is the view as you enter the car park. It appears to look like a 1960s concrete block of a building and the way to the entrance is a shabby side road. However, don't let that put you off. Once inside the decor is stylish and rooms are more than comfortable. The themed rooms, whilst obviously more expensive, are lavish. However, at the price, I would have expected more luxurious toiletries and bathrobe and slippers that are available in other hotel rooms of this standard. The historic frontage to the hotel is very impressive and the staff are more than helpful. Would recommend this hotel for couples.

The hotel was central the staff were very friendly and helpful the rooms were warm and comfortable and the decor downstairs was lovely just what we were looking for as we were visiting for our 42nd wedding anniversary The rooms could have been anywhere in a travelodge hotel the theme did not match the lobby and bar etc it is fine for visiting and wanting somewhere to have a base I didn't find it that good for a special holiday

“The staff describe themselves in the brochure as a hard-working and committed group working together to produce a good stay for their guests. This is 100% accurate and we experienced the results of that - a very pleasant stay. The room was well appointed, the food was good and there was a spirit of generosity not often found.” Anthony, Edgware |
