Staff friendly, courteous. Food was delicious.

Mattress too soft, lights out in room. Unable to open window, very warm. Found elderly lady struggling down the stairs after waiting ages for lift. Trouble was old lift was not working and on second floor there was no notice to that effect and to say to use other new lift. Told reception who said would put a notice on but it never appeared over the two day stay. Litter outside, windy corner and would have thought staff would have cleared it up.

Friendly staff, good value food, comfortable room

I particularly liked the friendly and comfortable atmosphere and enjoyed a very nice evening meal in the Victoria Bar. There is a very nice quiet sitting room with free Internet access. The location was brilliant with lovely sea views and was just a stone's throw from the starting point of a 10 mile race I was competing in the next day!

I thought £63 for a single person quite a lot to pay for one night for just the room. Breakfast was extra.

The restaurant was very good and it was great to have the grand piano playing. Food was good and reasonably priced and served in a very pleasant dining room. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Our room was cold. However, we told reception and they placed an electric heater in our room, which was very efficient. The hotel has seen better days, however it must have been very grand in former times and the ambiance is relaxed and friendly

First room they gave us because they knew my wife was in a wheelchair and the room was up a step so unable to get to even though they were fully booked they foud a room that had had some work done on it it was finished but not put back on the system gave us that

very comfortable bed and nice room, beautiful view.

Room was too warm, couldn't leave window open as we would have ended up with a few seagulls in our room

Comfy bed, extra bedding available, sea view. Helpful staff. Good being able to pay only for breakfast required and not a flat rate.

Shower difficult to mix to required temperature (had to get help and even then not ideal); loose piece of wood on bath edge that should have been repaired before guests arrived.

Room was warm, bed was comfortable, obviously investment being made as a new lift has been fitted.

I liked the location and attitude of the young male employee on reception was very good. Helpful and efficient, smiling and willing. The fried breakfast was very good and timely.

There wasn't any hot water in our room 39. The noise of people passing by the room wakes you up. The toilet in the bar was to be fair, shockingly bad and cold dirty and shabby. Whilst having breakfast employees were making a racket and moving tables ruining breakfast atmosphere.

Decent breakfast, evening meals ok.

The kitchen closing at 8pm. Big old style tv. The hotel in general seems to be very dated. In need of a refit!

Easy parking, sea view, comfortable bed, good size room, good breakfast, draught beer available in the bar

the place was fairly run down, there were renovation works in progress but I was not warned in advance, breakfast service was rather haphazard

The public rooms and quality of the food was very good as was the sense of history.

The 2nd floor accommodation leaves much to be desired. The rooms and public areas on the 2nd floor are in desperate need of renovation and redecoration; threadbare carpets, peeling 1980's wallpaper and paint and drafty windows all take the edge off the experience

Love the old world decor and service. It always feels like sinking into an old familiar armchair and makes me instantly relax. They are building a new lift at the moment (not before time as the old one only takes two people and is claustrophobic) but the disruption is minimal. The old Spinnakers cafe in the back room has been replaced by a residents lounge which is comfortable and being away from the main hubbub, quiet.

The hotel is showing it's age and the room had a wonky loo seat and sloping floor which was a little unsettling, but was quiet, had a sea view and was clean and comfortable.

Great friendly place. Victoria Bar is great for bar lunches.

The location, with respect to the Rossall School Triennial dinner. The staff were very helpful.

The design is a little dated. But then, they did open in 1841, so it isn't their fault.
