The staff were very friendly and helpful. Bar was opened all night and the buffet style breakfast in the morning was good. Highly recommend
The room was a little basic
breakfast on the sunday morning was a shambles. arrived at 9am was asked if we wanted tea/coffee,told our choice 20 mins later still waiting.no hot food or plates, items being brought out a couple at a time. no bread for toast. car park too small. The room we were in was in need of updating, took us all evening to find the light switch, was obscured by the safety chain on the door.
The location was very good being on the east side of Torquay which is quieter. Our room had a good sea view and a small balcony to sit and breath the sea air without vehicle pollution. The Staff were all friendly and helpful.
The Parking could be better if some tradesmen minded where they parked. The Bathroom was fine with everything necessary apart from a grab handle when older residents exit from taking a Bath/Shower.
Room was clean and hotel staff were friendly
Parking was very poor and location was hard to find. The breakfast set up was far from seating area.
Room numbering scheme is colours. Very difficult to find your room as little logic can be applied. Numbers would have made life easier. WI-FI didn't work in my room.
The staff were clearly trying to make the best of what they have available to them - OK lounge area & eating area conservatory although this was a little cool in the evening when we ate.
complicated multi-level layout of the room access corridors. Room doors and locks were difficult / cheap and partly damaged. Bathroom was very cramped. The corridor approaching our room "Aquarius" was not lit. Used phone torch to locate door lock. Very limited menu for evening meal on arrival.
Staff is helpful and friendly, parking is available.
The hotel restaurant is renovated and look nice but the room is not, the toilet needs to renovate. Not all the rooms are able to use wifi.
Breakfast was Excellent good choice from cereals to fruit and the fried breakfast was quality. Have stayed here three times. Each time I would rate it very good value compared to similarly rated hotels in Torquay. Great customer service! All staff were helpful and friendly, Lovely quiet location with balcony and sea view with outside pool. We altered the time of our stay on the day of arrival (booked an extra day via Booking.com) the room I booked for the extra day did not have a sea view the price was amazing and the Receptionist arranged for us to stay in the same room.
Had a few problems with the first room. The toilet seat was very loose. When I complained the Receptionist arranged for us to move to another room immediately, It was late in the day and too late for maintenance to fix it right away. This was a minor inconvenience but a good solution to the problem.
Friendly staff, value for money, parking
Tired, tired rooms, awful bathrooms
Nice friendly hotel in a quiet location.
The walls were very thin, we could hear noise from the next room and we hardly got any sleep. The floorboards were creaky in the hallway outside the bedrooms. Breakfast items, bacon and fried eggs were not replenished quickly enough resulting in me finishing my breakfast before my husband had even got his.
The food was excellent and the Saturday night entertainment was also excellent
the loose floorboards in the rooms are bad. My wife and I kept thinking people from the adjoining rooms were in our room
1. Very helpful staff - especially Annabel on reception who was a gem for information, directions and generally a very happy lady.
1. very small bedroom with a rock hard bed 2. bathroom smelt of damp - because there wasn't an extractor fan 3. shower didn't work if held at waist height 4. Dim 'mood' lighting in restaurant in evening - made me feel depressed on holiday!
The only good thing was breakfast.
For a double room we got two single beds pushed together and it felt like it was the worst mattresses ever- you could feel every spring in it couldn't get any sleep. As for shower it was really disappointing as it was covered in someone else hair and there was no power in the shower whatsoever as well as it took good 10 min to get the water temperature right.Would never go back to it again
The staff were ok. The food was ok Apart from room service. The hotel was quiet.
The hotel was not clean! The first room I was given the carpet was full of stains, the bathroom was dirty and very smelly, the balcony was so dirty you couldn't use it. The second room was a bit better, one cup still had the last occupiers lip marks on. The bed was so uncomfortable and very noisy I could hear the people in the next room turn over in the night and they must have heard me. I would not recommend this hotel nor would I stay there again.
The restaurant was great, great views, and excellent food. View from the room was good.
The room we were allocated the second night! Lovely sea view.
The room we were allocated the first night! The creaky floors and noise from adjoining roooms.
The food was excellent and there were different options on the three days that we stayed. The Staff were very friendly and helpful
The bed springs were broken the bed was so uncomfortable we could not sleep. On the second day the beds were not made properly the sheets did not even touch the top of the bed. The duvet was just pulled up over an unmade bed. The shower gel was not replenished after second day we went and bought our own. There were signs to the beach from the garden and when we walked down to it (quite a climb) it was blocked off!
Size of bed ( two singles joined) our room was in the front of hotel problem. Size of room large. Good internet.
Noises felt people where going to come into our room. They were entrying their own bedroom. Thought walls were made of paper. Room looked tried along with hotel. Breakfast looked uninteresting.
The hotel was clean and well presented and the staff were more than helpful throughout our stay.
The staff were excellent - helpful, accommodating and cherrful. We liked the out of town position as it was a quiet area but you could walk into town and down to Anstey Cove if you wished.
The decor is dated. Depending on who your neighbours are on the night, there is some transfer of noise from one room to another. This affected our sleep.
great hotel ,loved the art deco decore freindly staff lovely clean bedrooms ,looking forward to visiting again
A lovely little hotel with a warm welcome, helpful, courteous staff and a little piece of history. Food was good with fresh, quality ingredients. Would recommend.
No where in Devon serves proper real ale!
decore in lounge area and restaurant was great.
staff was young and lacking training.the bedrooms were outdated with old tiles on the ceiling.
Changed room as mattress had a big dip in it and springs popping out! Shower was very slow and water was luke warm. Carpet in room was well worn and thread bare!
