People banging up the stairs late at night and it felt like I was in the middle of a nightclub with music booming into the early hours Not Goof
Couldn't fault it: the stay was made by the lovely view from the marigold sweet. When I asked for more sugar there was some readily available and we didn't want for anything. Lovely time away, would definitely do again.
My wife and I liked everything at the Gleneagles Hotel except for the first room we were given.
Room 33, No light in the bathroom which did not have a window, only the shaving mirror light worked. We changed rooms at their suggestion.
There was nothing not to like about this hotel. Pleasant room, good view, 15 minute walk into town. Plenty of parking, decent sized car park and the road in front of the hotel.
The view from the bedroom was amazing, it was cheap, and there was a nice Christmassy atmosphere about the place
The shower was terrible, the bathroom was very outdated, the walls were so thin it sounded like people in the corridor were in the room, music playing downstairs seemed to come up through the pipes into the bathroom!
Nice Art Deco feel. Good sized room and general facilities.
Couldn't move anywhere in the room without the very noisy floor creaking which was very irritating. Particularly as the sign Shhhhh!! was prominently displayed to avoid annoying other guests. Hardly dared to move in the night. Shower didn't work. Finding your room in claustrophobic and poorly lit hallways was a challenge.
Close to Torquay. Close to Kents Cavern. Very good value for money
Lounge area nice and warm and comfy sofas to sit on. Bar available at all times. Staff pleasant and polite.
The floorboards creaked constantly. Bathroom needed updating as did the room. Nearly went home after the first night but decided to make the most of it. Would not return again.
Location was good and the sea views were lovely with its own pathway to the beach.
Great value but a trek from Torquay centre and harbour.25 mins walk
Why refurbish bedrooms and not touch the bathrooms.grotty 1970,s bathroom with worn and broken fittings ..
Friendly and helpfull staff. Hotel and room it's self were very clean. Would defenetaly recomend this hotel.
Staff. Attitude excellent. Definitely come back. Good value for money.
We loved the location of the hotel, the welcome from the receptionist, the fact that we had a sea view room and the superb breakfast. The eggs were perfect, the bacon crisp, not always easy when you're catering for large number of guests. The bar and restaurant were very comfortable, with very helpful staff.
The bed wasn't as comfy as we would have liked, and the pillows were hard. But we liked the room and the large bathroom.
Balcony in rooms very relaxed
The cleanliness was so good after some of the places we have stayed in
Nothing really, it was a nice comfortable room.
Comfortable bed, nice shower, lovely breakfast and very friendly staff
Shower not very powerful
the staff the food the decor
The staff are very attentive and friendly.
The bar tariff.
The hotel has beautiful views over the bay. The bar/lounge area is quite impressive
The hot water on the shower was difficult to regulate and there was very little pressure
Our room had a great sea view
Corridors very dull
The staff were very polite, willing to assist at all times, lots of smiles. the food was 1st rate, dinner was very good, breakfast the same.
The cost of drinks at the bar was eye watering expensive. Had it not been for the heavy rain we would have gone outside for a drink and dinner, hence the hotel would have lost the revenue.
Paid a bit more for a large family room at the front of the hotel, rather than having a sea view from the back. A few minutes drive from Torquay sea front, but ideal for my mother's care home and a pretty walk to Anstey's Cove, but no amenities at the beach and a fairly steep walk back up! Staff very friendly and free wi-fi. Meals ok.
One of the lamps wouldn't go on. Very squeaky wardrobe door. Breakfasts tasty but not made to order so not very hot. No serious negatives apart from the widespread rumour this hotel may close down soon! Don't know why as it seemed very busy for November!
Able to take pets Able to take pets into a comfortable lounge Bedroom good size
Buffet breakfast not obtainable in room where one ate, had to carry through 2 lounges.
