Hotel Hudson is located to outside Torquay town centre and is in easy striking distance of either the beach facilities, Babbacombe, Dartmoor National Park and other facilities and attractions. My reception at the hotel was very good and welcoming. The usual facilities of the hotel were explained in a pleasant manner and I was escorted to my room. There were the normal facilties in the room with a tv that carried most of the Freeview channels. I normally carry additional tea and milk because what is provided, at some hotels, is normally very basic however, at Hotel Hudson tea, milk and coffee provisions were more than sufficient for my needs. Although the car park to the rear is very small there is an overflow carpark, so off street parking is not a problem. Breakfast was very good with the full English breakfast arriving well cooked and presented and more importantly hot. I enjoyed my stay and can recommend this hotel to visitors to Torquay and surrounding area. None

Was very impressed from the moment I arrived as was not expecting such a high standard for such a small price. Hotel beautifully decorated, room very spacious and spotlessly clean, staff very pleasant indeed and always eager to help, breakfast freshly made to order with plenty of choice, location ideal as just a few minutes' walk from the main shopping centre and seafront. Will definitely be staying at the Hudson again next time!

A clean pleasant hotel, located close to the harbour and town , handy for the local buses which we used to tour the area. The owners were friendly and helpful.

Firstly the nice warm welcome and relaxed atmosphere. Lovely lounge. We liked the fact that the room was clean and stylish with ample room both in the bedroom and the en-suite, with a lot of personal touches. The breakfast was "perfect" the cleanliness in this room was exceptional in every way and nothing was too much bother. Probably the best breakfast we have ever received (including dearer places we have stayed in). Absolutely nothing to complain about - a perfect place to stay - will be back!!

The hotel was close to the harbour with its cafes and bars, close to the town centre and on a fairly level approach. The room we stayed in was large, airy, clean and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfasts were freshly cooked and delicious. The only problem we had was the fact that we had selected the hotel on the grounds that there was a bar and a lounge for the evenings - having returned from a meal out one does not always want to retire immediately to ones bedroom but might prefer a peaceful drink and maybe a chat with other guests in the bar or lounge. The bar did not open except at weekends. It did mention this on a sign in reception but we did not spot it until we were checking out. I could not find any mention of this on the web site. This was disappointing.

Nice people. Good place. Well laid out. Good service. A very good B and B, well appointed, comfortable, with good people running it. The metal shutter on the dining, lunch, breakfast area is out of place – too like in warehouse for such an otherwise well styled interior. The mini suite bathroom has a shower cubicle. Yellow lines at the front, carrying luggage up steps, and distant parking requiring a £10 deposit may not be to everyone's liking. Ask the host to demonstrate hot water from the tap and shower, and how to make the radiator hot at bedtime.

A group of us stayed here for New Years and I must say it was great. Firstly the location is good just few minute walk to the bars, resturants etc. There is bowling opposite the hotel as well. The breakfast was good, you can help yourself to fruit, cereals, yogurts, toast and fruit juice, and can get a cooked breakfast fresh tea and coffee as well. The rooms were spacious and very clean, and the staff were very friendly and helpful, if needed anything they were there to help. Overall this hotel was a good place to stay and if we come back to Torquay We will stay here again a nice small run hotel, thanks again.

Friendly staff, good location short walk to shops, pubs ect. Lovely rooms well designed and plenty of space. Parking could be improved although I was able to park near by with a permit given to me by reception, I would have felt more comfortable if I could of parked in hotel parking. We traveled with a big party of 5 cars and there was only available parking for 2 or 3.

Very friendly atmosphere, Brian was very nice to me during my stay and helped with anything I needed including the code to the wifi which was free 24 hours. The shower in my en suite was very nice, it got nicely hot and was a good power. The decor of the bathroom was of a good standard, tiled throughout and modern fittings. The main bedroom was modernly decorated and fresh. The theme was green and the bedding smelt fresh and clean, the bed was very comfy. I only had breakfast on one of the mornings (too lazy to get up in the morning at the weekend!) but it was very generous with an open buffet for cereal, toast, fruit and yoghurt, i also had a veggie fried breakfast which was warm and filling and tasty. The location is great with the strand and fleet street starting literally at the bottom of the road. The ideal location for shoppers as you don't have to carry your bags too far back to the hotel! Very nice pubs and restaurants (I highly recommend the clock tower pub and Amici's restaurant). Torquay museum is at the top of the road which is great for mooching around on a Sunday. There is a bowling alley directly opposite which a didn't notice any noise coming from and a park next to that which would be good for sunny days. It was very cold in my room, I was on the 2nd floor and my radiator was only barely tepid. I got into the routine of having a hot shower and jumping straight into bed to avoid getting cold again. My mug and glass provided in the room weren't replaced each day for fresh ones, the mug was rinsed in the sink in the room and the glass was the same one with all the same finger prints and stains on it. I would have appreciated a fresh one each day. The shower cubicle hadn't been cleaned recently as there were brown soap scum stains on the walls of the cubicle, not noticed if quickly cleaning but you spot quite a few when your in the shower using it.

The room was comfortable and the staff were very friendly. The hotel was nicely decorated and clean and very close to the shops, resturants and the sea front. The hotel entrance gives a nice feeling to the hotel. Plenty to eat at breakfast. The breakfast room was very nice and bright and just off of this area there was a bar with some chairs and a piano which looked great. We had the ground floor room which is one of the smaller rooms (but for what we paid cannot grumble as they made an error on the price quoted on the website). The en-suite in our room was a little tight when you are using the toilet as it was close to the wall and the toilet roll holder, if you were a large person this this could have been difficult. The shower was not very invigarating, could do with a power shower. The hotel is on a main road so you could hear traffic, but we are sound sleepers, so was ok for us but on the plus side you are close to everything in the town. The breakfast was nice, although my fried eggs were over cooked and the yolks were hard ( my husband's egg was spot on though) and I did not get the baked beans I asked for. The parking is an issue as two cars were already parked there which belonged to the owners and I managed to squeeze my car in but if the hotel was full and every room had a car no chance of most guest getting a parking space. No directions showing where the car park was and when we parked up no direction of how you got into the hotel from the rear, when we found the door it was locked so we went through the opening of the hotel next door instead of walking all the way round. The great room with the chairs and the piano and the bar was all locked up when we got back to the hotel around 9.30pm which was a shame, I understand the bar is only open on a Saturday but it would have been nice to be able to go and sit in that room if you wanted to before going to bed.

The location of the hotel was good. We parked up the car and used the ferry and local buses to get around. It was in easy walking distance to town centre. The road it is on has a wide variety of places to eat. The breakfasts were good and the dining room was lovely. We had a large comfortable room with small balcony on the front of the hotel. It was very clean and comfortable. The hotel was very quiet and we found the other guests very friendly. Although no pets are allowed be aware that the owner has a German Shepherd. If you have allergies to dogs this could be a problem although my husband is allergic and he only had a few problems and it didn't spoil our stay.

The hotel was so close to the harbor and Brian who runs the hotel was very helpful. We had a room which opened on to the front verandah which saved our legs from the steps. Probably not suitable for older people with quite a few steps to the front. The breakfast was delicious and freshly cooked by Brian. The bed could do with a foam overlay as we felt the springs at night..
