myself and my husband visit Torquay a lot we love it .Stay in different hotels .
when we arrived at hudson hotel it was ok. But when we were told that are room was on top floor with fantastic views . we were very disapointed it was at the back of the hotel rooftop view to b exact. we were celebrating are 18th wedding anniversary in Torquay .the room was small .very small window . rubbish under bed from last people .my wife wanted to go home on are first night as no air in bedroom we asked for a fan .no fan arrived on are first night .so she didnt sleep due to having asma couldn't breath .when the fan arrived it was black full of dust which made my wifes breathing worse. we took pictures as it was awful are worse stay ever and rewend are anniversary . we paid £159 for the room . and ment to be a 4star . sorry but it never is that . very disapointed we were glad to get home waste of money :-(
After reading other reviews I was a little dubious about the hotel, but was happily proved wrong. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Very nicely decorated with plenty of tea, coffe, milk etc.Brian was friendly and welcoming.very close to the town Center and harbour.very enjoyable stay and would definitely recommend.
No complaints at all
Clean and good breakfast
Staff very pleasant an accommodating. Breakfast was included and was plentiful and hot.
Felt like the hotel was misrepresented in photos as it was not nearly as appealing in person. Rooms were fairly clean but dated. Balcony on one room dirty and not useful.
Pleasant staff near harbour
Entrance bit grubby and damp.next door falling down.dead flies and cobwebs on the breakfast lounge windowsills
Location was good. Plenty to do.
Hotel did not match or live up to reviews. Hotel showing signs of needing an up grade.
Making your own toast whilst waiting for scrambled eggs to arrive to put on the toast! Room not cleaned, although mentioned to management! Room layout was terrible, hair dryer fixed location, so impossible to use as no table for brushes etc nearby! Lack of refreshments, brought our own in each day! Mould in reception and the pictures hanging there! Not a good 1st impression! Lots of stairs!
Spacious room Comfortable Good breakfast Geräumiges und gemütliches Zimmer Ordentliches Frühstück
Car park in the backyard difficult to reach Parkplatz im Hinterhof schwer zu finden und eng
The bed was amazing
Car park access a little tight
Brian gave a warm welcome , and also good advice on where to get a good real ale and quality food. Located close to the marina and shops , restaurants and seaside shops. Parking was off site but free and close by. Breakfast was fast and efficient and I enjoyed the cooked breakfast.
Water damage to reception slight mould smell , no basic remedial work done to make good until full repair out of season. Dirty mug in room for drinks. Tea , coffee ,sugar etc laying across small table not in a pot or basket. Used soap in shower with hairs on it. Blinds did not seem to keep out any light.
Location of the hotel was excellent. and Brian the owner was very helpful.
Hotel was old fashioned, badly maintained and could do with a makeover!
Good location just a few mins walk to harbour and shops. Lovely breakfast. Limited Parking. Friend staff.
Room slightly small.. very compact. Due to water damage slightly musty, damp smell. Lots of stairs to bedroom.
The Price The shower head kept drooping toothpaste splatteres over the wall above the sink Generally looked like it wanted a good coat of paint The soap dispenser wasnt fixed on the wall properly so it made it hard to use
the hotel was not very clean, when you see the hotel owner wipe the breakfast tables clean then use the same cloth to rub something off the floor it makes you wonder how clean the kitchen is, our bedroom wasnt clean, bedside lights were thick with dust, artificial plant in room looked like it hadnt been dusted for month, soap dispenser in bathroom was hanging off the wall to mention just a few things that put us ever staying there again or ever recommending it.
Friendly Professional Comfortable Stylish Location Breakfast TOP Marks
Location and staff were welcoming.
Although room was clean rest of hotel needed good clean. Entry to hotel had mould on walls and pictures .Carpark was difficult to get in and out of .New bed was needed in room we stayed in ,was really uncomfortable .
Convenient to waterfront.
Water damage, mouldy pictures and bags of laundry in reception. Dirty tea mug in room, noisy road, hot room, inconvenient parking.
The location was perfect, parking was good plus if full could ask for a permit to park .The breakfast was excellent great choice plus a veggie option. The staff were very friendly and helpful, great place to stay.
Great location just 5min walk to shops and clubs. Brian was so helpful and friendly.great communication . Very clean and lovely room quite spacious with nice en suite and great view of the bay.staff was smiling and greeting us every morning.will definitely come back again.
Value for money, it's all worth it, every single penny. Location, brilliant everything is near to the hotel, main tourist attraction (bay & lots of view), city centre, pubs & restaurants etc.... Owner Brian, he's friendly, accommodating. He takes time to chat with each and every guest despite of having lots of thing to do. Room, facilities, cleanliness & comfort, I have a great view from my room and for me it was already worth for my money I've paid for. facilities are basic (please be realistic for what you've paid or will pay for). Cleanliness is good, my towels and toiletries were changed everyday. It was a very comfortable stay for me. BREAKFAST, I did like it a lot... He served very nice breakfast according the hotel set menus aside from overflowing cereals (lots of variety to choice from), bread, butter and other sandwich spreads. The hot breakfast was very nice my favourite scramble eggs & salmon (lovely).... I did like the full English breakfast as we'll A message to Brian, thanks a lot for your hospitality and kindness. I will see you again. Wish you and your lovely German shepherd all the best... Many thanks again!!!
