Not much, there was plenty of hot water I paid for a top suite for 3 days and was very disappointed. The bathroom: had 3 loose planks of wood on the floor near the sink not sure why they where left there, two lights out, toilet seat loose, a mass of silicone holding the shower screen in place, the tap for switching from the bath to the shower was a large rusty washer, there was masking tape all around the ceiling, the extractor was not working. The bedroom: in two draws there was a large amount of screws and hooks, the mini bar was an empty fridge, the divan bed outer cover had come away exposing 12 mm long pins which my wife found when she scratched her legs on them, there was no tea or coffee in the room on two days, the phone in the room did not work so had to go to reception and ask for some, one of the cupboard doors was falling off. There was stacks of paint tins in the corridors, the smoke alarm outside our bedroom was covered with a plastic bag for the full time we where there, at the two breakfasts we went to, they apologised both times because they had no sausages, I did tell them there was a Tesco open nearby but they said it was not their fault there was no sausages, also the breakfast was very poorly cooked, undercooked bacon and burnt eggs.

Departure. It is a really tired and worn out place, rather pokey and (in my case) an appalling bathroom. For the money they charge I would expect something considerably more. Breakfast room smelt like a chip fat fryer had been running unvented 24x7.

Location the rooms are very dated, shower didn't work properly, towels were changed only once during 9 days, only one key for the room, the whole sum of money for 9 days was blocked in the beginning of the stay and I had to use another card for payment in the end. The hotel rates itself as 4-star hotel, but actually it is 2-star hotel at best. Looking for some 4-star experience - never ever think about this hotel. It doesn't worth your money.

Save yourself the money and sleep on the street, it was a dirty, smelly, horrible hotel. The wall paper was peeling of the walls, the net curtains, well I thought they were supposed to be white! I may be wrong, but I think Slimer from Ghostbusters stayed here once, as this can be the only explanation for the green staining to the walls! I should have noticed something was up with the room when they asked for payment when checking in. The room has to be the worst room I have ever stayed, I’ve stayed in better youth hostels! The bar was dreadful, poorly stocked with no draft beer available. The breakfast was served in the basement, which was tiny, hot and smelly, but smell could have been coming from the old man sat next to me, though to be honest it felt he was sat on the same table, we were that close. Don’t stay here!

The staff at the reception was very friendly and helpful. As a single female business traveler I did not have the safety feeling. The windows did not lock from inside and the door only had a door chain as security option. Bathroom was not very clean and overall the walls are thin and floors are squeaky.

Once you got passed the badly stained carpets and the old decor/furniture my stay was not unpleasant - the saving grace being the comfortable bed and the bedding crisp and white and towels in the bathroom white and clean. It is unfortunate however that first impressions when walking in the room (decor) were not good. Please do something with the carpet and the bedspreads - it will make such a difference. Location and on time wake up calls. Lack of courtesy and hospitality. Non responsive staff. Uncomfortable, very small room with a difficult approach. Less than adequate supplies in the room and bathroom. Leathery eggs and under cooked veges at the breakfast. Overall, sorry to say, I will categorize hotel La Place as one of my worst experience, unfortunately with a payment of 99£ per night.

The location was perfect, it was near the Regentpark, Bakerstreet and Oxford Circle. Everything you need like restaurants, shopping and attractions (Mme. Tussauds) is within walking distance. The little old- fashioned hotel is located on a quiet street. The breakfast-room was pretty small but the servants were very attentive and kind.

“Perfect location for shopping and sightseeing. Room was very pleasant at 8th floor, calm and light. Comfortable beds, clean floor carpet and good space. Nice, clean bathroom. Elegant reception area with sofa groups. Enjoyed the breakfast and a good dinner meal at the hotel in the evenings. All hotel staff members we met were professional and very friendly.
