Location, close to Wakefield & Barnsley and m1, a1 This was our third stay in as many weeks and once again the room was prepared for single occupancy. Although Staff did on request provide a couple of extra coffee sachets. We decided to have a drink one evening in the Bar and were advised shortly after ordering our first drink that they were cashing up we agreed to place further drinks on the room after one round the bar was closed with no notice. They advertise that sandwiches are available after 2200hrs when I tried to order one at 2205 I was informed they were no longer serving food. This used to be a good value for money hotel and paid attention to detail, but this has changed and I will no longer recommend the Hotel or use it again.

Location as easily reached from Wakefield and Barnsley. We stayed in room 210, the bed was so soft it might as well have been a hammock. The room was prepared for Single Occupancy, one set of towels, one hot chocolate, one biscuit; despite having been booked for double occupancy!

Room pleasant, comfortable beds. The hotel was full, so breakfast arrangements were a little hectic. They knew how many guests were staying so why not organise the tables better, it seemed as though we had to sit at the tables as they had been used for the function the night before...long tables of 12.

Location, right on New Miller Dam, across from bus stop and 5 minutes straight drive to centre of town with abundant shopping. Helpful and friendly staff, very good restaurant. Excellent breakfast, in quantity and quality. Seems to be favourite spot for weddings, so at times you tend to find yourself as an outsider amidst an extended family group; Was not a major issue.

The staff were very friendly and natural. They couldn't do enough for you. I stopped in an executive room which was little better than a travel inn. The bed was almost on the floor and not comfortable it said when I booked it that there was pay per view tv but that wasn't the case and the room was freezing.

It was comfortable and conveniently sited for a meeting I was attending On returning from the meeting in a nearby venue there were no parking places available in mid evening. This affected a group of us. We then had to wait until much later when spaces became available before we could settle down and relax.

Good points :- The hotel was located close to Newmillerdam Lovely Italian restaurant in the village hotel clean and tidy Bad points:- no hot water for a shower we could not have a shower before bed as the hot water did not work, we assumed it was because it was late evening. However we tried again in the morning before breakfast and still not hot water. We got dressed and went to reception to complain. Whilst sitting having breakfast we were asked if we wanted another room, there was not much point as we were already dressed and needed to leave straight after breakfast. No discount was offered, however in my opinion this should have been done as a matter of courtesy

hotel proved adequate for my needs-other than criticisms below i wasnt forewarned about a wedding that more or less took over the hotel the shower head was not fully functionable-a simple clean internally would have given a full flow to make it work properly

The room was nice but wasn't what was described/photos wasn't the same room to what I booked however the room was nice the shower was nice and the bed was really comfy so I cant fault that only issue I had was the staff and the lack of communication! We never got told when check out was and got a phone call from reception explaining that the cleaners needed to be in our room so can we be as quick as we can the we got another phone call from the reception just as we was walking out the door to tell us we was been charged £20 for staying longer I told her that we was out the door I just ran back in to answer the phone and she said it doesn't matter then 4 hours of been back home I got a phone call from them saying I was been charged for the show gel and hand wash as they are not in the room but they was never in the room in the first place!! We never had any show gel or hand wash in the room!!!

The staff were very friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make sure my stay was enjoyable. The recurring faint smell from the overflow in the basin. But, once reported it was dealt with promptly, although the smell did recur. It was only detected when leaning over the basin to clean my teeth.

The hotel was very nice with the outside seating area to the front. it was a hot day and it was nice to sit out with a drink. The room was a standard double and was very nice, clean with nice fresh sheets and towels. cannot fault the room at all. Coffee facilities were fine and the oaty biscuits were lovely. for an over night stay it was great. we just wish we could have spent longer in our room, but with attending a wedding we did not get alot of time to relax. There was a bar just off the main reception with seating and it was very pleasent. The hotel is situated on a main road, but it is not busy and even sitting outside the front of the hotel the cars were not a problem. Newmillerdam is a very nice little place, and if we are ever visiting family again we will stay at the hotel again. nothing at all everything was great.

Not a great deal to like realy. Drinks expensive. Room like a sauna. Breakfeasting room far too cramped to enjoy the most important meal of the day. Room too highly priced. See comments above. But mainly the warning about the rat problem given out by the staff.
