The position of the hotel
Price of meals in resturant
The views were amazing, the welcome and service from the staff was excellent, the food was superb.
The bedroom was very small and tired. The bed was too high and the hairdryer was practically impossible to use on my own.
The view and the friendliness of staff
The place looked tired, but with very little outlay could be transformed.E.G updated notices, old papers removed etc
The location is fantastic.
The rooms clearly need a complete refurbishment. The owner was not friendly at all, specially when we arrived.
Unique part of the country with amazing views of the lizard lighthouse. Sit on the slopes of the garden overlooking the coastal path and dramatic coast. Hotel was very comfortable and we enjoyed our stay.
Due to the location, it meant we had to do lots of driving to get around. The room was a little small due to the ensuite, the space between wall and bed, a bit of a squeeze.
Great location by the sea. Very friendly staff.
Thought room was over priced, fairly basic.
Scenic view from our ocean-facing bedroom Convenience for immediate access to coastal footpaths
Quality of beef was particularly poor (tough) Restaurant was not value for money (somewhat limited choice and quite expensive eg. '"fish & chips" was circa £16 compared to local pub price of circa £12)
Great views, good food and staff
Needs updating all round and more focus on customer service generally
Location of the hotel
If you look at the ratings you will understand what we the considered the problems were. The laundry soiled, bed linen not clean, towels and table linen soiled.some of the staff not very friendly. We had been looking forward to our visit to the housel bay hotel,as the first time we visited here was40years ago.
Relaxing atmosphere frendly staff great food good value certainly go again!
Leaving to go home!
The hotel location is absolutely amazing!
I've had better experience and more comfort in a premier inn! The look of the hotel is very old.
Location, the view the closeness to a beautiful beach and friendly staff.
The price of the food and beer and lounge a little dated
The staff were first rate and the Owners. Very friendly and helpful. The restaurant provided excellent food in the evening and the breakfasts were also of a high standard. The location was superb and the views from the seaward rooms were stunning as we're the views from the terraces and gardens. Lovely walks in the area, with the Coast Path running across the front of the hotel's gardens. A couple of miles walk via the most southerly Polpeor Cafe to the National Trust's Kynance Cove was well worth the effort and we even saw the relatively rare Cornish Chough. A lovely stay in a superb location. We would not hesitate to recommend it.
Nothing - just bear in mind that Lizard Lighthouse operates at night and seaward rooms do catch the regular flash of the beam as it rotates. However the rooms are fitted with black out blinds so the light is minimal and did not disturb us at all.
Superb views, great location for costal path walks, friendly staff
Superb and quiet location if you want a really relaxing break.
Rooms a bit small with king size bed.
location + friendlyness

the view was fantastic
the interior seem a little tired
Location could not be better; some facilities a little dated, but charming hotel nonetheless. Excellent helpful staff.
Staff were really friendly and helpful. Location is fantastic and very romantic. We went for 3 days and the stay was very relaxing. A loads of nature to see and cover while walking.
Food wasn't that great, we ordered a roast for dinner wasn't happy with it at all. Breakfast was free but not the ideal. I think this hotel attracts not many young couple so the atmosphere, Food and everything else were mainly focus on retired or family people.
We liked the freindly staff, nothing was too much trouble. You were made to feel at home from the minute you walked in the door, we had a lovely chat in the bar in the evening with the owners it was so personable. The food in the restaurant was really good. Such a lovely place and people I can't praise it enough! Would love to stay here again!
There wasn't anything we didn't like, the foghorn on the lighthouse started going in the night and into the morning which some people might not like, but I thought it was funny and it was a first for me!
It's quirky with a wonderful location and great food.
Food was amazing!
Not enough time to enjoy the facilities.
Amazing location Great room with a view!
