Originally built in 1860, this Victorian property is ideally located just a short walk from Torquay’s beach and harbour, and still retains many of its original features. Howden Court Hotel features large south facing patio and gardens with access to Croft Meadow Walk, a private pathway leading to within 100 metres of the seafront and beach. All of the rooms at the hotel are en suite, while several superior rooms are also available. Some of these rooms feature sea views, while others have patio doors giving direct access to the large garden. The hotel’s convenient location means that it is within easy walking distance of the town centre and all the main attractions. Nearby you will find tennis courts, putting greens, bowls, theatre and Fleet Walk – Torquay’s premier shopping centre. The staff were efficient but also made us feel very relaxed in a short time. Nothing was too much trouble.

We enjoyed our stay here, pleasant helpful staff, comfortable beds and very clean. Evening entertainment variable and all good. Would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel as 'Good all-round value for money' hotel in good situation. We will return. Ok, you can be picky and some areas could be refurbished (bedroom carpet) but the cleanliness far outweighed any negatives.

Location and price wasnt to bad Early check out 10am. Should be noon. Cleaner came in my room bang on 10am without knocking and room should include breakfast

Stayed here for just the Saturday night and had a great time visiting the local pubs and clubs, the Hotel had a good situation to all the shopping and restaurants and pubs. We were surprised at the cleanliness of the hotel and room as we had booked a room for £70 expecting a lower end budget stay we were greeted with a friendly and warm welcome and allowed to book-in 2 hours in advance. The room was very clean and tastefully decorated with a very clean bathroom and comfortable bed. We didn't have the breakfast or any meal at the hotel but would have expected it to been of a very good standard, thanks to the proprietors for our stay and will certainly be recommending your hotel to any of our friends who wish to visit Torquay. Would liked to have stayed a few more nights.

Disappointed that evening meal was at 6.30, far too early for us, luckily we were only b&b so we went out, also felt details should be looked at only small things but no reason for it, like knobs missing on the drawers in the bedroom and the net curtain tie backs were filthy but they were taken down on our last day, only small things but should not have been overlooked, we did however have a good stay good breakfast.

I did not like not being introduced to the person running the hotel, I also did not like the dirty laundry in the entrance. I did not like the smell of cigarette smoke in my room.

A great family run hotel, very helpful staff at all times,nothing any problem for them, they want to make you feel very comfortable. Great location very handy for beach and shopping. Thoroughly recommended.
