“Lovely Hotel in pretty grounds only a short drive into Canterbury. Staff were very attentive and our room was very spacious with a lovely four poster bed in keeping with our arrival straight from Hever Castle and the days of Henry VIII. The dining room bar and lounge were very well appointed.”

Lovely Hotel in pretty grounds only a short drive into Canterbury. Staff were very attentive and our room was very spacious with a lovely four poster bed in keeping with our arrival straight from Hever Castle and the days of Henry VIII. The dining room bar and lounge were very well appointed. The only downside is the fact that theHotel is adjacent to an Industrial area but this does not really impact on the amenity of the Hotel and its grounds.

Good service and friendly helpful staff. Nice quiet room and lovely ambiance. Breakfasts good and the one evening meal we had was excellent. Shower curtain over a narrow bath meant that room to turn around was limited. A shower screen would have been better.

Excellent location for Canterbury (including park+ride) and also easy access to a28 and from a28 to a2 north and southbound and from the a2 northbound (this junction has no connection from the a2 southbound). An interesting building and lovely quiet country house atmosphere with gardens. A short walk to a really charming cycle/walk route by the River Stour into Canterbury or out to Chartham village. Good and well priced wine list. Really nice staff. The background music was repetitive and is it really necessary?

Excellent service, and tremendous food. Quirky, interesting hotel in an ideal location for the city. Lovely grounds and a fascinating history. Only stayed one night - it would have been nice to have spent longer there.

Howfield is the only hotel I've stayed in where every member of staff is helpful and friendly. Eva on receptipn/general everything! Leads the way with a 'nothing is too much trouble' approach to her work. My wife and I stayed in a lovely superior room (16) situated discretely on the ground floor away from the main part of the hotel, My son is at the University of Kent and we will make Howfield our 1st choice hotel when coming to visit him during the term.

The hotel is beautiful, tastefully decorated, preserving the history of the building with all its interesting architecture. Our bedroom and the communal rooms were all very comfortable, and it was enjoyable and relaxing spending time at the hotel itself. The staff were smart and professional in their presentation, but also friendly and helpful, and not intimidating as some hotel staff can be. We had a meal in the '1181' restaurant which we also thoroughly enjoyed. As my wife said, 'it felt special'. We can heartily recommend Howfield Manor Hotel.

Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable rooms of a good standard. Lovely surroundings. Age of the building ensures uneven floors and stairs and lots of creaks! Would not recommend for elderly or disabled.

Stayed here for 3 nights with my boyfriend for a late Valentines Break, had a lovely time, Howfield Manor itself is set in lovely grounds and we had nice well equipped room over looking the gardens. Breakfasts were amazing, (beautiful bacon!) and we had one dinner at the 1181 restaurant which was also very reasonable price (2 courses £19.95) and gorgeous food. Its close enough to get into Canterbury and coast is only 20-25 mins away (go to Whitstable - its lovely) No real negatives except that the area suroounding Howfield Manor is at the bottom of an industrial road, it doesnt impact on the hotel itself, no noise but when you are driving to it down the lane you wonder what to expect, but once you pull into the driveway you soon forget. Also our room was on a cooridoe which was noisy when people walk past (loose floorbeds shaking) which can disturb late night/early morning. But these just little things really

Beautiful hotel. Very helpful staff. Eva, remy and ian were very professional and provided what I required. Thank you all very much. Room no 1. was very attractive. Our only dislike was that the duvet was too small for the bed, and insufficient pillows
