The reception staff were extremely pleasant and very helpful. We really enjoyed our stay here and will be looking to return in the future. The breakfast was great and the staff could not have been more attentive. Our room was large and the two windows made it very bright, the beds were very comfy and the showers were great. We stayed for my partners birthday weekend and me and my partner loved our stay. Thank you Howfield.

Howfield Manor is an impressive hotel just off the a28 Canterbury to Ashford Road and is set in wonderful well cared for extensive gardens. If considering a visit ot Canterbury and not wanting the expense and noise of a City centre hotel, Howfield Manor is ideal. There is a 40 minute walk down a river to Canterbury (1.2 miles approx), and a taxi cost just £7 (far cheaper and easier than parking in Canterbury. There is a woodyard and other commercial outlets nearby including a Volvo and Mercedes dealership but once in the hotel grounds you have complete tranquility. The double room (No.3) was light and traditionally furnished with an ensuite shower/bathroom. I reported the matress as being in need of replacement, but that said I had a very comfortable night's sleep - but you are aware of the springs 'popping' at first! The hotel staff made a note and no doubt it will be replaced very soon....I Hope. The hotel is a warren of rooms with plenty of space to sit and read or have a drink in the snug bar. The restaurant food looked exceptionally good and diners were all very complimentary. There is a huge car park for over 50 cars and additional grass parking for weddings or conferences. In fact, I would highly recommend this hotel as a wedding venue - the grounds alone make it ideal. The conference room was a modern light and airy room capable of seating about 50 people - not sure of exact capacity. It was a most enjoyable stay with very helpful and attentive staff. The matress in room 3.

As a one off visit, I would rate it higher than most of the chain of hotels which are souless and almost antiseptic. This place was quirky, old, comfortable and well worth the price, although the deal I got made it better value as it was on that night cheaper than any of the mainstream hotels.
