Staff very friendly and helpful
Bed was comfortable.
When going into reception area, dinning area smelt of smoke. Also slightly in the bedroom. Continental breakfast, without croissants?
Nice quiet location - but turn the corner and there is a lovely pub. all you need is nearby. Very quaint building - full of character, however the grounds need to be neatened up . If ever they want to retire and bring in a couple of managers you can count us in!! Could be a real cracker of a place but sadly let down either through lack of funds or vision :-(
Feel that the entrance should be welcoming - not have tables laid out for breakfast and have people walking past whilst you are trying to enjoy the 'most important' meal of the day. The smell of the corridor where the rooms are located smelt of heavy smoke (febreeze and carpet freshener a definite must) but the room was lovely - no horrid smells or anything but the bathroom (clean) was very dated - but I thought it was great - deep yellow/orange suite. 2 staff - the man - friendly & helpful. The woman - not so much, felt I had upset her when I put the toast in got the impression it was a No No! just trying to be helpful, if you don't want customers to help themselves then don't put the stuff out!
Close to club
ideal for my visit en route down south
location, staff, cleanliness, great value
at this price, it would be churlish to criticise anything
Water leaking from drainpipe outside the window
Room was large, bed really comfortable even with a bad back I had a good night's sleep. Breakfast more than enough and fresh toast and fruit. Friendly staff. Quiet residents. value for money I will visit again
Rather tired decor and food smells in the public areas not pleasant. bathroom a bit ancient!! But clean and worked well!!
My wife and I found it a perfect blend of warm hospitality and comfort, with an ample and satisfying breakfast offering a wide choice. Hunters Lodge was an ideal stopover for our journey from Cornwall to Scotland. - Robert, Truro
The bed was very comfy. Good selection of food for the continental breakfast.
The Lady who welcomed us was really lovely, couldn't have been more helpful ! Beds extremely comfortable. Allowed to take my wee dog, added bonus, great location for visiting friends in Standish, Will go back again !
very friendly and comfortable.
a bit tired
The friendliness of the staff, cleanliness of the rooms, price including breakfast, very good value for money.
Nothing we didnt like
This motel is well located for visiting the local area and attractions. If you want clean and comfortable it's fine here if your looking for 5 star then you need to pay more and look elsewhere.
Convienant for rejoining motor way
This is an old style 60s/70s style motel. There is evidence of faded glory which is no longer kept up, probably for financial reasons. The room I had was fine, comfortable with a newish TV, kettle and free WiFi. The orange bathroom suite took me back 40 years but, hey, it all worked. Put a smile on my face! The room rate is excellent - Its facilities & finish are not in the league of modern chain equivalents but a nights stay is more than half the price, and includes a cereal & toast breakfast. Shops, takeaways and restaurants within a couple of miles. I'd happily stay again.
All good for the money!
Didn't like the idea off two mattresses While it wasn't too in comfy the top one tended to move.
Budget stay that did the job
Noisy Nightclub attached to building
very nice and forthcoming staff,
rooms were quite old, but this was not really a problem.
First impressions dont do the motel justice, I was immediately regretting booking a room here, however when we were shown to our room it had a lovely fresh fragrance, a candle was left burning & my regret was soon gone! The bed was comfortable & room was quiet. Breakfast was fab and the lady owner was lovely, very kind & well mannered. £35 for me and my son for 1 night B&B was a bargain & I will stay again.
The grounds/car park & outside of building could do with a little TLC but don't let that put you off, the inside is fine! I didn't like the orange bathroom suite either lol but it all worked so no big deal
Very friendly and clean, with comfortable bed, and easily reached from Motorway
Some facilities like going back to 60's Motels, but being old enough to remember, I recall there was not much wrong with the 60's
Staff very friendly
Everything very dated.
The staff were exceptionally friendly and willing to help The room was spacious and clean. In terms of value for money this place scores top marks. Location really good, scenic and close to major roads.
its attached to a bar that stayed open till the early hours with loud music playing constantly (fri n sat). This also caused me some concerns about my car parked in the shared car park, though I'm pleased to say no harm came to it.. wifi was poor - connection strong but actual bandwidth when more than a few people used it died away to the realms of email only.
