I have stayed at many Marriott Hotels around the world, which prooves my opinion of them. However, I was most dissappointed on receiving my hotel bill, after a one night stay, to find an extra 31 pounds on my 121 pound hotel bill. This was from my hotel room, I had phoned the desk to ask could I use my international phone card from the hotel room. I was informe I could and prceeded to do so. Then on paying my bill I find that over one third of the bill is for using the phone. I thought this was ludicrous considering I had been given permission by the hotel to use my international card to save us any expense. Bearing in mind I coudl have used my mobile. I spoke to the acting manager and he agreed to reduce the bill by 10 pounds. He was most courtious and informed me I should not have used the said card. As I was on a tight schedule regarding my flight from Heathrow I was not prepared to continue the matter and settled for this. However I now and did feel I was wrongly charged for the use of the phone after receiving permission to do so. The acting manager said he would look into the matter and email me with his findings within 48 hours, this he did not do, I am now back in Australia and feel after such a great holiday in England and having time to think about it. I feel a full refund of 21 poinds would havebeen in order as I was given permission. It is sad that after staying at so many Marriott hotels this should happen and sully my opinionn of them. To have more than one third of the hotel bill be for phone calls and when I complain and have a promise of the result of enquiries emailed to be within 48 hours. To be ignored adds insult o injury. Bar and restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a premium room and it was large and comfortable. Good selection for breakfast Nice to have use of a pool and leisure facilities Get your central booking sorted out.We had untold problems with booking over the phone through central booking. We booked using tesco vouchers: Firstly we were told that we had to have book for three days. Then after pointing out the small print from tesco we were told that we had to book either a thurs/fri or sat/sun - we wanted friday and saturday. When we arrived we found that they had booked us 4 x rooms instead of two and the staff said that we'd have to pay for the two extra rooms that had been incorrectly booked as we hadn't cancelled them. Luckily we were able to provide confirmation, but it took until midnight the next day before it was confirmed that we wouldn't have to pay as it was Marriotts error - not a nice thing to have hanging over you.

The young lady who checked me in and out was really frinedly and very welcoming. I immediately felt confortable. Please thank her. At breakfast the lady asked for my room number and then just said 'take a seat' that was fine but I wasn't sure about whether I get my own tea coffe / what I sould collect etc. Not a major issue but noticed because the receptionist was so lovely.

Excellent friendly staff always willing to help. Comfortable clean accomadation. Excellent breakfast service and again friendly, helpful staff. Swimming Pool, Gym and Spa facilities I realise that you are under refurbishment, so changing rooms are remote from pool and Gym, however I did point out to the pool attendant that after being in the pool unless you dry off before entering the corridors to the changing rooms the floors are very slippery. Nearly slipped myself, and in todays claim culture you are leaving yourselves wide open? Suggested to the attendant that people are told to dry off at the desk area, particularly legs and feet and warn of probable slippery floor? Otherwise really enjoyed my stay and hope to come back in the future.

the staff were really friendly and helpful. the breakfast was excellent even though there was a large wedding party there while i was visiting. the leisure facilities were tired and the atmosphere rather dull. I have used the Marriot Hotel in Norwich which is much nicer and looks more luxurious. there was only one packet of biscuits and one set of shampoo / shower gel which for two people wasn't really enough. more milk / tea would have been appreciated - we didn't ask for any more though but would've done had we been really in need.
