Hotel was quite unique in design and was very well restored.Hotel owners were very efficient and helpful.Room was very clean and well presented. Car parking was very good and adequate. Location of hotel wa not very good though, with an Industrial Estate across the road. The main street(English Street) into the town center was very scruffy, but town centre was pretty good. The location and the nearby English Street(see above).

The staff were mostly very friendly and helpful in helping us to locate things in the city. Rooms were very comfortable and breakfast was delicious! If it had been a warmer day, air conditioning would have been nice. There is no food available in the evening, and we had a very difficult time finding anywhere within walking distance to eat (other than pizza or other take-away meals).

The hotel standards were excellent, the owners welcoming, friendly and helpful. The room we had was actually a Family room with plenty of space, almost like a suite, with two separate WC's (although we had booked a super king double, it was the last room left so we benefited from this). Various little extra's in the room included earplugs, sewing kit and cotton wool balls. The bathroom had deodorant sprays and shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The breakfast area had various cereals, fruits and fruit juices while the cooked breakfast was excellent being nicely cooked and plentiful.

The owners were wonderful, very pleasant and helpful; delicious breakfasts; very nice (superior) room with good amount of space, hanging space, toiletries and soft, very comfy bathrobes. Plenty of parking space. View from the room is over a service station forecourt, a pity but nothing they can do about it except perhaps, for the long term, to plant some trees or a tall hedge; not being able to eat hot food in the room - would have been much more comfortable eating our take-out pizza there than in the bar.

From the moment you arrive you are made to feel very welcome. Lynne certainly has a vast knowledge of the lowlands and gave ussome very useful tips on where to visit. The room was very comfortable and the food excellent. It is not a great view from the front of the hotel, but dont let that put you off.
