Shaftesbury Premier London Paddington

Traveling for business, I have come to appreciate the relentless conformity of the big chain hotels. But this stay was for a few days sightseeing(with my mom) after the work was done, so we were looking for charm on a budget-- and we found it. The room was actually a bit larger than I had expected, and perfectly pleasant. The staff were helpful & friendly - especially Brian the concierge - and the location was just right. Surprisingly quiet for as close to Paddington station as it is.

The quality of the rooms was extremely good. The beds were extremely comfortable, the temperature was very good, and it was very clean as well. The decor was lovely - exactly as advertised. The bathroom was very clean with modern amenities and a good-sized shower cubicle. We're very glad we stayed there and we'd definitely go back. It was also a decent location - less than 5 minutes walk to Paddington Station and the area seemed quite upmarket. There were lots of places around the hotel that you could get a cheap bite to eat. It had everything we wanted.

The bathroom was quite small - there wasn't very much space to move. That was fine because we were only there for a couple of days, but if we'd been there for longer, it would have been a bit uncomfortable. We had booked two rooms; the one I was in was a twin Clubroom, and was quite spacious with a couple of chairs, a table, some cupboards and helpful extras like a microwave. However the other room was just a normal bedroom, and it was very small - it only housed a double bed and had just enough room for one cupboard for clothes and a small area for a kettle. Both rooms were the same price. I was very pleased with the Clubroom, but the normal room was very small. Still nicely decorated and clean, though - that's the most important thing.

problem with the reservatin resulted in us being moved to the shaftesbury metropolatin ... complimentry taxi and breakfasts, beautiful hotel.

the leak in the bedroom ceiling was a little anoying but the offered a room swap straight away

Very clean room and excellent location.

The front desk staff was rude. We witnessed 5 different groups of customers arguing with the front desk staff (including us).

The residential location, and proximity to Paddington station, were pretty good. I would stay there again.

The staff were relatively unfriendly and unhelpful. It took about 20 mins for us to get our luggage back from storage, despite mentioning that we were in a rush to get to the airport

I liked the location of this hotel it was very close to the train and tube.

The room was extremely small, My husband is 6'2" tall and the height of the shower he only had 2-3 inches of clearance between his head and the ceiling. You could not have the bathroom door opened and get to where you could open the front door.

The staff were friendly. The room was clean. Close to Heathrow express.

The room was aboslutely tiny with barely enough space to turn around. The flat screen television whicn was advertised on the web site as being satellite, was not. It had an internal aerial which had to be asdjusted by hand and resulted in very poor reception. When I asked about room service I was told only snacks could be served,or I could use one of the restaurants nearby. Again contradicting the web information. The internet in the room did not work. Finally, the noise from the reception area throughout the night was terrible, the room I was given being on the ground floor. The web description of this hotel is totally misleading. No where near being 4 star.

The bed was so close wall to wall I could not get to the wardrobe because of the television on the wall. Not worth the money.

Hotel very central to Hyde Park/Oxford St & connection to Heathrow Airport & others. Hotel had all facilities in rooms.

When we arrived we were given 2 single rooms after I booking a Twin Room, that we very disappointing! But the nxt day we were changed to our twin room & given complimentary Breakfast.

Convenient location for Paddington/Heathrow. Good quality decors and fittings.

Extremely small room. Heating did not work and, on request, staff claimed to have done something to fix it but didn't actually do anything and it continued to not work.
