You cannot call the room 4star. The concierge took my plastic shopping bag which had a book in it to make out he was helping me with luggage to get a tip! We were told to mind the steps in the room, so when he opened the door I could see why! It was a steep drop if you hadn't been warned. The room was a box! Not even enough room to get out of the bed at one side. Goodness knows why they had an ironing board in the room I don't know where you would have put it. The shower cubicle door kept opening so it was banging on my back the whole time. You couldnt swing a cat in it. If you don't have claustrophobia before you stay there you get it by the time you leave. I felt terrible staying there.

Hotel charges at check-in (not at check-out), the walls are too thin (you can hear the neighbors talk and they can hear you back, it's unclean, the rooms are way too small (and some of them have 6 steps down right after the door, which is odd and uncomfortable), has very tiny bathrooms (literally impossible for two people to stand inside the bathroom unless one of them is in the shower) and there was not enough water pressure for a proper shower. There's also just one elevator that takes forever to get to your floor and there's no wi-fi in the lobby, as was advertised.

It's close to Paddington station. That was the only positive aspect It's not easy to locate. The room was so narrow that you cannot even walk between the bed & the wall. There's not enough room for your feet and you get stuck! Calling the room "double deluxe" is a joke. Claustrophobic! Dangerous stairs when you enter the room too and so narrow that it's hard to go in carrying a suitcase. No space where to open the suitcase (only on the bed). I cannot insist enough on how incredibly narrow and tiny the room was.

When shifting us to another building across the street, they offered complimentary breakfast. Overall comfortable, clean and good location. Construction on-going. Blocked entrance to lobby. Very unfriendly, surly staff at breakfast! Adequate but quite sparse and unimpressive.

Cheap and in good location for paddington station but seriously outweighed by the bad points. I arrived late evening and was put in a room that had clearly been converted from a store cupboard situated immediately off the reservation area on the ground floor. I know this as there were two other store cupboards next to it. I could hear everything that was being said in the reception which was very busy and noisy. The room was not large enough to move in without getting on the bed and the toilet was too cramped to use without leaving the door open. Getting in and out of the shower was a challenge. The tv did not work. When I complained about the tV and the noise I was told I could use the communal tv in the lounge. I complained again and eventually was moved to a room in the basement of similar size but at least it was quiet and the tv worked. I was given a complimentry breakfast however. Although the room was only gbp79.00 It should still be suitable for its purpose with basic facilities in working order..

The breakfast Rooms were not as advertised (no fridge in room, welcome fruit basket and robe and slippers were not provided). We arrived on a late flight and the cot for our child was not provided as requested in our booking, and even after several requests after checking in. When it finally arrived, they then took half an hour to erect it, by which time our child was extremely grumpy and well ready for bed. In our booking, we requested 2 rooms the same, which they weren'T. Whilst the rooms were clean they are very small (especially the bathroom). For the price we paid, we expected alot better.

I really didn't like much about the hotel except for the location The staff was rude and not helpful at all. And most of it could barely speak English. I was given an extremely small room in the basement with a window that wouldn't close properly. As a result i woke up the next morning with a really bad cold. Then I asked them to give me another room and they gave me one after many hours. I am definitely not satisfied with this hotel especially bearing in mind that I had to pay 300 pounds for just 2 nights. A total rip-off. I do not recommend it.

My wife, my daughter and I wanted a comfortable base for our weekend travels in London. The Shaftsbury provided us with this. Close to the railway, the tube and other transport it was easy to move about. The room was just as we wanted. The hotel was ideal for us but the quick route to central London was hampered by tube problems getting from Paddington. This was resolved by our analysis but the general London experience has to have everything available to it for families like us to use the hotel instead of one a little bit closer to the centre. I do realise also that the Olympics implies a certain need to get all routes ready now not in six months time.

Location. 3' walk from Puddington Station. Too small a room for 3 persons. One bed was a couch.Certainly not a Deluxe room as advertised. Just an ordinary room.Breakfast was not included in the already high price (199 Pounds/night) and it was too expensive. (15 Pounds/person)

Convenient and clean. in a good area for transport links. We had a problem on Sunday night/Monday morning. Around 1.00am I could hear dripping water somewhere, getting progressively louder. This kept me awake for an hour. I finally found this to be a leak from the room upstairs, with water dripping through a light socket in our bathroom. It took a while for this to be fixed and cost me two hours sleep, when I had an early start on Monday morning. In the morning Reception simply told me to send an e-mail about this, so I was not impressed by their lack of concern or customer service.

I was dissapointed due to the fact that I was given a very small single room. I had booked a Deluxe Single......My luggage bag did not even fit between the bed and the wardrobe. I was given room 001 which was just infront of the front desk. Shame !! Sandro Micallef I was dissapointed due to the fact that I was given a very small single room. breakfast was good and restaurant staff were very good and helpful. the main thing that I didn't like about the hotel was that the booking was accepted but they couldn't actually supply that type of room upon arrival and instead of a deluxe twin my daughter and I ended up on different floors in tiny single rooms.

The room was clean and the location was good. The only problem was that in the room I didn't had enough network coverage but I am sure that this depends from one room to another.

“Excellent staff and location, the staff are the No1 factor for a stay at this hotel. The location close to the city centre and transport connections is excellent. Oxford Street is within walking distance (15-20 mins) and Queensway is only 5 minutes away for reasonably priced restaurants. ” Gerry, Kilcock |
