The breakfast Rooms were not as advertised (no fridge in room, welcome fruit basket and robe and slippers were not provided). We arrived on a late flight and the cot for our child was not provided as requested in our booking, and even after several requests after checking in. When it finally arrived, they then took half an hour to erect it, by which time our child was extremely grumpy and well ready for bed. In our booking, we requested 2 rooms the same, which they weren'T. Whilst the rooms were clean they are very small (especially the bathroom). For the price we paid, we expected alot better.

The most comfortable bed I have ever slept on in a London hotel. I had a Club Room - really nice, large, clean and comfortable. Would definitely book there again. Nothing I didn't like. It was an excellent room.

I like the fact that the hotel was located in close proximity to the underground, made communiting into the city very convienent. I aslo enjoyed the helpfulness of the staff. The room that we satyed in was a wee bit too small. It was extremely tight to walk inside--my husband is 6'2'' and wieghs 170lbs so it was slightly tight and the shower was too small.

The only redeeming feature of this hotel is its proximity to Paddington station which is excellent. An overpriced room at £160 for a double, was three times smaller than the travelodge I had stayed at the previous night. Although beautifully decorated having two people in the room would have been a squeeze and uncomfortable. I found the staff incompetent and unkowledgable and for a hotel of that quality not to have an accident book it is potentially liabolous. The breakfast was reasonble but again much below the standard expeted of a hotel in this price range. I would not recommend this hotel unless you want to gain a permanent scar due to bad maintenance and a bigger hole in your pocket.

Very, very little to like apart from convenience to Paddington Station Check in was by a very indifferent clerk. The room (single) was tiny and overlooked six huge noisy air conditioners. A change of room to another with a tv that didn't work did not improve the size. A further change was better but still o room to even open your luggage other than on the bed. Impossible to sit at desk to use internet as chair would hit the bed only inches away. To be fair, the duty manager was much better than the check in staff during room changes. Certainly never stay here if you seek a single room

The location is excellent being so close to Paddington Railway Station and a number of tourist sites. As most things were very good with this hotel I was disappointed to be ripped off with what I was charged when having, due to business reasons, had to extend my stay by two nights. Instead of being charged the same rate as on my first night the cost was increased 600%.

General convenience, rooms complete Lack of a small bar fridge. Also a bit confusing as we were re-routed to the Grand Park further up the street in the Rain!

This was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in and I have stayed in many across the world. It has to be said that my enjoyment of the stay was down to the people working there. All of them were well presented, genuinely friendly and attentive without that unctioness that staff in other hotels think is a good way of getting a better tip. In short, the Shaftesbury is a great place to stay other than it is Paddington which, whilst not the worst area in London, is nontheless a bit of a dump. That said it is quite handy for pleasanter or more fun areas such as Kensington and the West End. If you are going to stay in this location please take my advice and stay at the Shaftesbury. Just Paddington really.

Last minute deal was a very good price and location was decent. Staff were good and hotel clean. Room was ridiculously small! (room 505) Especially as it was a deluxe double room we had paid for. It was the smallest hotel room I had ever seen let alone stayed in. We were very short of time and as it was only for one night we never asked to be moved.

The room size is very small and all the furniture are packed with not enough space to even open your luggage. Finally the room was located in the basement floor.

Quiet location, yet really close to tube and rail links For a double duluxe room, I could stand in the middle of the room and touch all the walls. It was smaller than my bedroom at home. Not exactly a holiday where I would stretch out and relax.

Specified a room with a view. There seemed to be very few people in the hotel, regardless, we were given a room in the lowest part of the basement with a view of a pipe fitting.
