Elegant and effiecient best sums up The Hydro Hotel. From arrival at reception and throughout the various areas everyone makes you feel welcome.Rooms are immaculate and spotless with attractive decor. The sylish conservatory looking out to sea and the formal restaurant are lavish and the choice of food is simply fantastic.Bar is well stocked and inviting. This really is a place to enjoy .

British and quaint, beautiful location on the hillside outside the main city centre with views of the sea shore. We got a very good deal on the room and hence the room assigned to us was fondly nicknamed "the room of shame". The location was at the very back of the hotel, corner room with view of the garbage cans and parking lot. We did not mind as the price probably drove this placement. Room was clean and staff friendly. Food in the main restaurant the Crystal Room was not up to standard. Beef filet was more like a rubber sole, dry and tough. Mother who is elderly loved the whole experience and told us that the duck was great, but I have to say that there are better ways to spend £27.50 for a meal. Go to experience British Luxury and quaintness and laugh the rest off.

Ideally situated for beach, shops and restaurants. Staff were helpful and friendly. A comfortable and elegant hotel. Personally I would have preferred a duvet on the bed rather than blankets.

great location, sea view, garden, good facilities, quiet location, easy parking.. Good walking around the area. Not too far from Eastbourne centre... the room was nice and had all facilities we needed. In all we were very pleased with our stay. we didn't eat in the hotel as we usually like to try restaurants in town or elsewhere... The staff was very pleasant and efficient.

This is a very well managed hotel with enthusiastic staff who provide an attentive and professional service. The Hydro is in a fantastic elevated position in the western part of Eastbourne's seafront. There are marvellous views available from the front of the hotel, and a seaview room is definitely worth the extra cost. This is the only hotel along the seafront that has its own private lawn to the front, where you can sit on a sunny day and enjoy a cream tea. The fresh cream chocolate eclairs made in the hotel are famous. There is also a heated outdoor swimming pool in a sheltered location. Most rooms have recently been refurbished with new bathrooms, flat screen tv's and room furnishings. The Crystal dining room offers a varied menu and is reasonably priced. The quality of the food is excellent. Breakfast is buffet style for cereals, juice, yoghurts and fruit, with cooked items ordered separately and freshly cooked. Again portions and the quality of the food is very good. The hotel features a large sunlounge which overlooks the lawn where lunches, teas and a supper menu are served. The bar area is comfortable and adjacent inthe lounge areas, there are plenty of chairs and settees to relax in. The Hydro Hotel offers traditional service and hospitality for discerning customers. Most people these days would prefer continenental quilts for reasons of comfort and hygiene.

Our club has held its annual Christmas dinner/dance at the hotel every year for the last few years and a good number of us stay over as hotel guests. Always found the hotel and its staff very accomodating and good value for money.

The Hydro was suitably placed for me to have as base for visiting family and friends. There was a fairly relaxed feel to the hotel with plenty of places to sit, read and meet with people. Very atmospheric and whilst 'old fashioned', was charming too. The rooms were very clean although for me the decor (bedspreads and curtains) did not fit the style of room as they were more 1980's than 1880'S.

The hotel is ideally situated, being close to the seafront, but also in a quiet side-road. The staff are particularly focused on customer service, which makes a real difference to the quality of the stay. The only negative would be the cost of the breakfast, which we felt a little excessive.

This is our second visit, we spent my wife's 60th birthday there. We have booked to return in December. Great location, friendly efficient staff and excellent food. More suited to the mature market as opposed to young families. Nice place to relax and chill out at any time of the year. Would rather have a duvet than sheets and blankets.

This hotel has not changed since the 1960'S. This is a good thing because the building has character. It is beautifully kept. The staff are polite and well dressed with the customer servce, manners and protocol which was mandatory in the 1960's but lost to the modern hotel chains of today. I am not a youngster, however I am nott the stereotypical elderly person visiting the seaside. I'm 48 and the Managing Director of a national company who was visiting Eastbourne on business. I would choose this hotel over modern hotels every single time. Excellent value for money and a wonderful relaxing atmosphere in a hotel that actually has the character and ambience of a bygone year when hotels actually cared about their customers.

Came for a short holiday on recomendation. Room space did not come up to size as indicated on internet. I was asked on internet to supply dates only and was given a quote. However no other options were offered. We would have taken a larger room with better views than the one allocated had we been given the choice. Orherwise, well up to expectations. Mr & Mrs L:each

The very pleasant attitude of the staff throughout the hotel. The ambience. The food, especially dinner. The varied choice of all three courses was good also the vegetarian choices. The lounges were comfortable. Tv in the bedroom was the best we have experienced in an hotel. The cleanliness of the housekeeping and in the restaurant was much appreciated. We enjoyed our stay very much and hope to return soon. Mattresses and pillows were a bit on the hard side! Water in the bathroom seemed a bit 'slimy'. Do you add a water softener or is it just Eastbourne water? Marmite at breakfast would be welcome!
