Hotel staff would not refund money seven days prior to stay. Had booked for five nights, only to realise that fiance was returning from hospital early and would need lift to and from room. Robbed of £240. Checked in on the day either way, card did not work on door man behind desk told me to use his card as it was a two man job in order to reset card !! Stay well away would rather sleep on the street
Location. The bed was clean and maid service daily. Good size room.
The tv ariel was broken - therefore no tv, toilet handle loose and difficult to operate, dirty bath and grouting, varnish peeling on woodwork, handwash empty, tea/coffee not topped up daily. However we did not complain as we just used the hotel as a base. Would not recommend.
Spacious rooms, bath tube, quiet, generous parking area.
Mostly everything of metal was full of rust, old and defective furniture, internet impossible to access from room, room service with delays and incomplete.
Nothing, complete waste of money
Toilet seat was broken. Room needed vacuuming Sink unit was badly stained. MMirrors had dust on them. Staff had no customer service qualities care.
Dirty room.dirty shower.cold room and water.
Smelled of takeaway and smoke. The bed was impossible to sleep on. One pillow was too hard, and I swear one was just a pillow case. The staff were not friendly, distant and practically not there. Worst night sleep I have ever had in a hotel.
Location was ok. Entry at reception was efficient, but not welcoming. Price was fair.
Bed sheets that don't fit. TV ariel hanging out of the wall fitting. Therefor, no TV. Paint was peeling off the bath. Window catch was a 2 inch screw nail. Breakfast? Leave it alone. Sorry, a very sad old place.
Bed was comfortable
Room was cold dirty Tea making facilities had not been restocked - no tea bags and 1 small cap of milk for a twin room? Shower - either boiling hot or freezing cold even then it's just a dribble ! Rust holes in the bath/toilet
Built in restaurant
Decor needs a facelift
The bed was very comfortable and the reception and bar area was very nice
It was book now pay later, the payment was taken from my account immediately. Skirting board hanging loosely of the wall. Breakfast appalling
Room was damp, black mould painted over, smelt disgusting, broken sockets. Overall not impressed at all. Would not recommend nor will we stay again.
Next to us there was a "promiscuous" lady that brought men in her room every 25 minutes from 8 till 6 a.m.Doors were banging. Continuous laughter and playtime. They were smoking cannabis and everytime I turned the lights on in the bathroom the smoke came from the vent & the window. Smoke alarm went off at 4.30 in our rooms as a result. At 5.10, I decided to confront the next door occupants only to find out that a black guy was just leaving with a huge smile. No Reception during night time. No wi-fi in the room. Bathroom plumbing leaking, ripped dirty couch, really small TV, mattress instantly cures backaches by sending you straight to A&E.Kettle wasn't working.
Everything. The bed was hard, the room was damp and mouldy and stank of damp. The shower was broke. It was terrible. Worst hotel Iv ever been to in my life. Will not ever come back here.
The hotel was cheap and easy access from the city centre. It had the basic amenities expected of a hotel i.e. bed, shower etc. All in all a good place to stay if looking for a cheap room near the city. I would stay there again.
The room and hotel are dated and in need of renovation, although the sheets were all cleaned to a high standard, the pillows were paper thin. The bath/shower looked like it someone had just flicked bleach around leaving streaks of grime as well.
The location of this hotel
The hotel its self didn't look to bad, when I got to my room the smell of damp was over whelming, I found the bed quite uncomfortable and the pillows were hard as rocks, the walls were quite thin so I could hear my neighbours talking and coughing. When I first arrived the memeber of staff booking me in only gave me eye contact once throughout the whole conversation we had, he seemed uninterested in me staying there.
Only good think was location to the train station
Incredibly noisy at night, could hear every word people in the next room were saying. Breakfast was poor, some cereal had gone stale. Beds weren't comfy and the shower head was broken
I liked the staff... The room was always warm Great place near train station Coming bsck soon
The bathroom needs more repairs There was only one towel for two of us Bed was broken Tv nearly fell off wall Overall nice place to stay deffo coming back
room was filthy, dirt behind the lockers and bed. bathroom was filthy
Bed and room reasonably ok and comfortable
Whole place was dirty. Corridors smelly and un vacuumed. Room particularly bathroom poorly cleaned and vacuumed. Dared not look under bed.
Room was tucked away so not much noise.
I had to buy cleaning products and clean the room and bathroom myself. Only way I could be sure. Wish I'd checked other review sites before booking. They request payment when you check in! That's when I realised something wasn't right. Couldn't wait to leave.
Unfriendly staff Rooms dated and dirty Bed and mattress awful Noisy residents Continental breakfast did not exist, just a selection of cereals
Everything else. Bathroom was broken..lamps were not working... too much noise from near rooms..
My first room had not been cleaned so had to given a new room in which the sink was blocked. not very happy. cut my stay short
My second time at Hylands, friendly helpful staff. Only one critic the mattress , could feel the springs
