Close to Villa Park where we went to watch football (although St Andrews is obviously closer) Also close to the city centre. Both journeys were £7 in a taxi We were disturbed at 0330 by a drunken person banging on all the doors

Bar/restaurant was intimidating for women at night as it was full of drunk men. Very unsavoury people hanging around all day with bottles of alcohol and scary attitude.

The security of the car park, not found many hotels that fo that!! Closeness to the shopping centres was good aswel. My boyfriend and I only have juice and toast at breakfast time, so to be charged £7.50 each per day was way too much, should have continental prices available, also asked for spare pillow but because the hotel was full there was none do we had to buy our own!

The free car parking was useful. It was easy to find. The smell. Not quite dirty, but not quite clean either. Like a mixture of tobacco and cleaning fluids. The expensive internet connection. The queue at reception. How the reception staff had to interrupt dealing with the queue to serve at the bar. The promotional posters everywhere. The crack in the toilet bowl. The not-very clean tables in the eating area.

Location was good for Birmingham Football Club, about 300 metres away. Litter everywhere outside the main building. Hotel staff tried to charge for breakfast when it had already been paid for.

Close to my race circuit I was testing my race car. The shower would not hold its temperature and it could be cleaner outside.

The only plus side is on site parking. We arrived around midnight after a 6 hour drive, the VERY SLOW guy at check in made us fill out forms and made us pay and it took 30 minutes before we were in our room! Very unprofessional! He didn't even find my booking however I had a booking number. The hotal is very loud at night, very bad if you are a terrible sleeper. There was a strange smell in the hotel, smelled like a hospital. Looked like a hospital. It was dirty, found tobacco on our bed?! Bathroom dirty. If this hotel was cheap it would be okay but at 79 a night this was horrible. Worst hotel I've stayed at. Strange people wondering in and around the hotel at night!!! Never again!

It was just five minutes' walk from St Andrew's, Birmingham City football ground. It was overpriced for a night's basic, no-frills accommodation.

Good location for where we needed to be, clean, tidy room. Do not do room service but our phone wouldn't work so we were unable to collect our preordered sandwich so they brought it up! A lot of noisy rowdy youngsters. Police got called in the early evening due to a load of youngsters renting a room to have a party - we could see them from our room, made us feel a little wary. Really old heating system that blows out hot air but turns itself off after about 10 minutes so we had to sleep in jumpers as it was so cold!!!

The receptionist booked me in to 3 wrong rooms in the adjacent hotel before finally getting my details right. And although check out wasn't until 12, a male member of staff felt the need to let himself into our room with his key and start talking to us. As 2 female guests, we felt that this was extreme inappropriate and unsafe! Will not be staying there again in a hurry!!

Location is good for driving to Birmingham from the South or East. I was given a room facing the back side which was quiet. The front side faces a busy roundabout. Very simple. It has free car parking. The room smelled a bit. The air con was not working though the weather was cool enough.

Stayed in a twin bed room on the ground floor. Rooms are clean and well maintained. Most staff members are friendly and helpful. Stayed there for 2 nights and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but there is room for improvement. Although the room was clean, the noise from outside, especially on the first night, was very annoying. Even though I specifically asked for a quiet room when booking, I was given a room next to the hotel car park and to the main roads, and you would also get constant noise from the local drunks. Wasn't able to get to sleep until 4am on the first night, which wasn't nice because I had to be up for 6am. Second night I got to sleep early, but woken up at 3am due to noise from outside. Did try and ask for a room change, but people in front were told rooms fully booked, they had to go elsewhere, so didn't bother. Apart from that, everything else was fine and I wouldn't mind staying there again as long as I had a quieter room, but would look elsewhere.

Had everything you would expect in a hotel of this standard, along with a big shower in the en-suite, which was a nice surprise! Although we did not have breakfast included in our room rate, it would have been nice to have been told that the buffet breakfast would not run until midday (as informed on every poster and leaflet around the hotel) due to a sports match on the Sunday (the staff did offer to make us some when they realised their error though). The bar and restaurant had also run out of many things on the menu.

“a warm welcome from the start, plenty off staff to assist at the checking in and departing procedures, informative and helpful, rooms clean and tidy although a little tight in the bathroom. Did not have a meal at the Birmingham Ibis though facilities looked comfortable. We will be looking to stop again at this hotel and this time try out what Ibis has to offer.” Martin, S. Devon |
