Especially liked location - near to the center of the City, restaurants, theaters, shoping centers and also near location of my conference. Friendly, small, despite reconstruction of the hotel, my stay was pleasant and stuff was very kind.

Staff very friendly and helpful and location good. Room comfortable and clean apart from the carpet that was slightly stained, but it was very reasonably priced.

The Ibis Charles St was good value for money, in quite a central location for nightlife and restaurants and 15 minutes walk from Piccadilly train station. The staff were very friendly and happy to sort out any problems. The bed was not very comfortable.

The room was basic but clean, all one needs for a week-long stay. The in-room coffee and tea was much appreciated. However, I did find the room a little drafty, the floors were cold and the heater couldn't quite warm up the room to the temperature I would like, although I did find the temperature reasonably adequate. The hotel is in an ideal location, surrounded by historic pubs, walking distance to the rail station and to an enormous shopping complex at Picadilly Square, The breakfast is not included and it is very expensive if purchased separately, but there are many coffee shops around and the pubs serve full English breakfast as well. It is a block away from Oxford Street, where you can catch a bus just about anywhere and just about any time of day or night. The location couldn't be better, either one of the Ibis hotels in the area are great to explore Manchester from, especially the party/pub scene, yet they are far enough that one is not bothered by noise. The internet is not included and is expensive, but there are coffee shops, such as Nero's, which have free internet. In this day and age I would have expected to have free internet, though. That was perhaps by far the biggest drawback of this hotel. I did find the room a little drafty, the floors were cold and the heater couldn't quite warm up the room to the temperature I would like, although I did find the temperature reasonably adequate. The sink wouldn't drain, despite the plumber coming in a couple of times and the bathroom must have a moisture problem, hence a strong musty smell. The rest of the room was fine, though. In this day and age I would have expected to have free internet, though. The internet is not included and is expensive, that was perhaps by far the biggest drawback of this hotel.

Room was clean and comfortable. There were renovations being carried out in the reception and restuarant area. I had not been warned about this. Despite being on the sixth floor I could still hear the workmen during the day. On the first day I had an early flight and wanted to sleep in the afternoon but couldn'T.

Nice and cozy room, standard ibis design. It is fifteen minutes' walk from the city center and the railway station, a little bit farther than we've expected, but still satisfactory. Just a little bit hard to find.

Ideal location for New Year's Eve event being held on Princess Street. The staff were very pleasant and extremely helpful. Our room was at the front of the hotel and revellers attending the nightclub on the diagonal corner were screaming and shouting until the early hours of the morning which prevented us from being able to get any sleep until approximately 4 am.

The bed was big and comfortable and the location was ideal from the point of view of nightlife. The is an audio jack to plug in your iPod/MP3 player (!!!). The room wasn't very clean, there were only 2 tea bags, not enough towels, liquid soap was empty, only 1 roll of toilet paper and the view wasn't exactly picturesque - but all these are minor details.

Close to city centre Booked hotel in early October 2011 for four day Christmas break on the basis it offered smoking rooms, which I choose in the drop down box. By chance on reviewing comments one week before the 23 December I reviewed my booking and found I had done correctly but to emphasise my choice I entered it again on 'special requests'. Almost immediately I was informed the hotel does no longer offer a choice. I tried to cance but hotel would not allow, only if I paid a penalty which was 6 pounds less than what I paid. I offered to pay a penalty of 75/80 pounds but was turned down. I could originally have booked a non smoking better quality hotel almost at the same price if I desired. Will never stay in an Ibis hotel again, they like to hide behind 'terms & conditions' rathar then satisfy their customers. John, Carlow, Ireland.
