With a recreation center and a stylish restaurant, Novotel Reading Centre is just a 2-minute walk from Reading train station. This modern hotel has a 24-hour front desk and a cozy lounge bar.
Score from 592 reviews Very good
This historic building was once visited by Charles Dickens for his public readings. It offers a Dickens-themed restaurant, light, modern rooms with private bathrooms, and a themed bar.

Finding parking was not easy.
The location is superb and I like the little lobby bar that's open till late. The rooms fine for what you need and bed comfy.
The pillows were very uncomfortable and there was someone else's makeup on one of our towels.
Brilliant hotel, very comfy, no such free wifi as you had to pay for 24 hour use
Location is brill close to everything you need
No parking hate the floors why can't we have carpet to stand on when we get out of bed ??
The modern deco Helpful,friendly staff
rooms were too warm but could be controlled pillows uncomfortable duvets too heavy
The room was quite small for three person and dirty. The bathroom sink was blocked and caused smell in the room. The staff were not very polite at all.
Good place to take a hot shower and sleep in a comfy bed.
Had to wait in line at breakfast for kitchen to refill. Rooms are cold, there's no heater and the aircon system makes a lot of noise but not much heat.. best to turn it off completely, take a shower and get in bed quickly.
Wanted breakfast happy to pay got it after making a fuss
Location good and initial view was a clean room.
Room with basics and felt very cold. No heater and a bed that makes a lot of noise. Is a totally put off.
Clean, easy to check in and out, wifi works. Efficient and courteous staff.
Offer sheets and blankets and don't assume that everyone likes duvets.
Always constantly a safe haven. The staff friendly, the accommodation clean and the buffet breakfast was delightful. All at a reasonable price!.
Not the fault of Ibis Reading but whilst parking is available at a discount price and within a reasonable distance, the hassle of an unfriendly multiple car park was something I would like to avoid. Also to be fair, the Ibis staff were as helpful as they could be. So thank you.
Location Beds TV Cleanliness The couch in the room Extra pillows 24hr restaurant
- Bathroom door has no lock - The shower curtain - Not enough plug sockets and not near the bed (for phone charging) - Room not warm enough
Hotel is based in city center, and very close to train station.
Disadvantages is car park. There is one, 5 minutes walking distance from hotel but if you park there for over 12h be prepared to pay.
Central location. Friendly staff.
Cold bedroom. Lift could be quicker in the mornings. Slow free WiFi, quicker option is paid only.
Hotel and room were clean, tidy, modern and simplistic. Shower was hot and powerful.
I'd have felt like I was getting my money's worth if it was £50-£60 per night. Room was cheap and simple.
Clean, simple, functional.
Thin walls, lack of a view-but to be kind of expected with the price.
Location, price, breakfast.
Very central, close to railway station pubs and restaraunts.staff friendly, suited our needs to the full.
Central location, and polite staff, but does not mitigate severe down sides...
Ventilation in the rooms are extraordinarily effective. Equivalent to sleeping outside. Changing rooms did not help, the rooms were bitterly cold [circa almost uninhabitable], heating was non existent and the ridiculous ventilation ensured room temperate never exceeded 10 degrees. A thourougly miserable evening.
location, centrally to rail station, town centre and bus stops, good for business travellers because of excellent bus connections to Reading business parks.
The heating does not work properly, the room was constatnly very cold. There is a thermostat, but I do not think you can control room temperature. The fan blows cold air regardless of the temperature set on the thermostat.
i have stayed here numerous times i must be satisfied
in some rooms not enough storage space
We were back for a University reunion and so, for a night out in town it was perfect location, we booked in advance so the price was very reasonable and the room had everything we need, plus a TV and tea-making facilities, what more do you want?
The bathroom has very thin 'walls' so I wouldn't share a room with someone you're not completely comfortable with!! Not a problem for us and bathroom was roomy and clean. Big shower!
Excellent position for shopping! Went Xmas shopping with a friend which meant we could return to hotel to drop off purchases whenever we wanted. Great location for eating out in the evening too. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again.
My only concern was the call I received the next day, stating that I had left bags behind which turned out to be someone else's completely. Made me slightly concerned with regards to security, but not enough to prevent from returning in the future.
Bed very comfortable. Clean bathroom facilities. Security good and lift worked well. Didn't have to wait long for it.
Thin, grubby carpet in room. No pictures on the walls, although the picture thing wasn't a big deal. Crowded, noisy bar. We went next door to the Novotel to get a drink.
