Clean, comfortable room with a good location. The breakfast was very good and reasonably priced. Hallways could use a little updating and the stairs are difficult for people with extra luggage.

The Ibis is fairly central to the main centre of York. It was around a ten minute walk to all of the main shops, restaurants etc. There is a small car park at the back of the hotel, although very limited spaces. However there is free off road parking just two minutes walk away so that was was good. This hotel was ok for our 2 night stay, as we only used it to change and sleep in. I think it is very deceiving on the website. From the pictures, it looks quite modern but that is not the fact in reality. On entering the hotel, the lobby and bar are modern, bright clean and welcoming but as soon as you get past reception, it goes downhill. It is just in need of modernising throughout. With nes carpets, a lick of paint and better matresses, this would be a great budget hotel, and until this improves, we will not be staying here again.

It was very modern in decor. Breakfast had a great choice on offer The beds were made up of a peice of chipboard on legs with a mattress ontop. Not very comfortable. The air / heat conditioning didn't work we had to make do with a convector heater in the room.

I was very unhappy that when we arrived for our aniversary we had two single beds when we ordered a double room I expect a double room not a twin room. There was no shampoo and only 2 really small towels, and the TV was not at the end of the bed it was in the corner almost out of view. It didn't feel worth 65 pound it was bland and typical with no design or personality. I was very disserpointed.

Me and my partner booked to stay at the Ibis to get away for a couple of nights. The room was very clean, although the bed was very uncomfortable. It just seemed like a wooden board on some posts. Shower/toilet facilities were good, but watch when you're using the shower. The water changed temp slightly going from burning to freezing, not fun! Location was good, just a short 15min walk into town through Mickelgate. Staff tried to overcharge for our breakfast twice whilst we were there, so keep a tab on what you're spending on meals/drinks! Overall a good hotel to stay in if you're just needing somewhere to sleep and wash.

“I liked the fact I was made to feel welcome and everything was explained to me clearly which was good as I was staying on my own. It is ideally situated for a short walk into town which was an obvious bonus. The assistant manager was very friendly at breakfast and she made sure I was well catered for. The room was clean and warm and the ensuite was lovely as it contained a bath. I slept very well as there didn't seem to be any noise outside. I will definitely stay there again when I'm next in York.” Sandra, Longfield |
