Staff helpful and welcoming Parking arrangements a disappointment, low shower pressure, slightly shabby decor, noise of heating system from early hours. This would be ok as a 2 star but is a poor 4 star and I cant see how this is comparable to other 3 star hotels in the area.

leaving Booked luxury room shown in pics and described as sea view, double poster beds etc, ended up in room that looked like your nans spare bedroom, with view of hotel next door 6ft from window.Window was left open on coldest day of the year ,so room was freezing on arrival, tea + coffee but no cups in room and small bed. Car park holds 4 cars at a squeeze,i can only assume people who give this place decent rating are lucky enough to get put in the 1 or 2 decent rooms.Id just like to add ive reviewed over 30 hotels this year for bookings.com including 3 this week alone and this is 1st and only one i wouldn't book again

In the first night the heating doesn t work. The toilet it was not clean wit pee inside. The floor of the room it was with hair. The breackfast it was bad. the hotel it was not very full but they have give me a room for the back the vue it was bins and a garage and if i was the manager i had give a better room instead of this room. But the wurst it was the cold and the only blanket on the room inside the cover very old and full of dust. I dont recomend this hotel to anibody and i will need to stay in Southend more times. As director of a company must of my life is in hotels. And is the first time i do a claim.

The proprietor was very welcoming and particularly helpful in ensuring my dietary needs were met. I shall definitely be using the hotel again. Parking space was rather limited.

The host was very pleasant and the breakfast was very nice The room was depressingly decorated with wood-chip wall paper and the colour scheme was very bad. My soap had also been used previousely

Staff were very helpful and friendly, room was very clean although chairs were stained, all areas of the hotel were very clean and homely, and adequate choice for breakfast Although car park is advertised, when we arrived it was full, and unfortunately so were all of the surrounding roads. As we had travelled to attend my Husbands Mothers funeral the next day, we could have done without this added stress. The reception lady was very apologetic. We considered going somewhere else, but within an hour after the theatre show had ended people who had taken all of the spaces emerged, and we were able to park in the next street to the hotel. Apparently this is not a common experience, but I would suggest that anybody who may arrive there during the evening should book a car park space prior to their stay as the car park is extremely small, and the last thing anybody wants after a 3 to 4 hour journey is to spend

Good sized room/apartment Great location Very reasonably priced When I booked, the website said that there was 24 hour desk. This turned out not to be the case, and I had to ring night bell to be directed to the key, left in an envelope. When I rang the b&b to check the check in time, the owner didnt seem to know what rooms were available online in comparison to those really free. This led to me being moved from the main hotel to a nearby apartment, which was fine as im sure this was larger than the original room. By the time i had arrived, at 0030, the small car park was full, so i didnt have a space.

Good, clean hotel. Very friendly staff. In need of refurbishment, particulalrly to the bathroom - the shower in our room did not work properly. We booked the 'luxury' room but didn't appear to be anything luxurious about it.

Staff were friendly and room nice and quiet. Despite couple of issues I would recommend the hotel as a suitable one/two night stop over. First evening meal was very nice but the next evening it was slow arriving and overdone but luke warm like it had been stood waiting to be served. Didn't notice immediately that only one meal had been charged and paid for on the final bill, but hotel did take payment for second meal day after departure. However, no communication to discuss missed payment and confirm payment to be taken! Parking was also very limited and whilst staff tried to be helpful about this, there was very little that could be done. Room was also above the kitchen and when the window was open, the smell of eggs being cooked was very unpleasant.

I liked the fact that I booked a single room and they upgraded me to a double as they had the room available. Appreciate that as some single rooms are very small.

“The friendliness and helpfullness of the staff was excellent. Knowing I was travelling solo, they made my stay as relaxing as possible; even choosing a table in the restaurant where I would feel comfortable on my own. The staff were very attentive. The view from the restaurant was lovely, even on the cold, windy, rainy day that I was there.” Julie, Redlynch, Wiltshire |
