The sunday rate is very attractive. Reception staff is very helpfull and provides exellent service even when situation in not standard to them. Excellent breakfast served in castle. Stylish, classy, grand!

The bedrooms are located in old stables, NOT possible to sleep in castle it self. Decoration of room is modern comfortable but ther is no historic trace or link to the castle in the interior design in bedrooms. Cleaning could be better, fingerprints and grease everywhere!

Beautiful gardens and good sized rooms. Swimming pool was also very nice. Good fresh cooked breakfast but we didn't use any other facilities as there was a wedding on & we thought it would be too busy to use the restaurant or bar that evening.

Despite booking for 2 adults & a child and reminding them when we checked in, the room was not set up for 3 when we returned 2 hours later. It was another hour or so after that it was finally done & we had to rearrange the furniture in the room as the rollaway bed wasn't put in a great place. The only other thing is that the main hotel looked like it could do with being spruced up.

    Breakfast was good.

We were very disappointed by our room which was tiny and very basic indeed. Apart from this the room had no air conditioning, a bed that rocked backwards and forwards at the tiniest movement thus waking the other up in the middle of the night, a dirty carpet that I really did not feel like walking bare footed on and a shower that trickled water. The walls between our outdoor room the those next door to us were paper thin and my husband swears he heard someone urinating in the toilet next door before flushing it. All in all, one of the poorest hotels that we have stayed in and we go away a lot!

Good value for money. Nice building and surroundings.

Male staff at the leisure centre, unhelpful. The reception area not being in the main part of the building. Asked for a family room, however on arrival no childrens bed in the room.

    location and setting

We arrived starving and no one was in the bar to serve as they were pre-occupied with a wedding - we waiting 40mins for service and then the kitchen didn't have what we wanted to eat and we had to change our order...they told us this 15 mins after ordering. The hotel was noisy with drilling in the morning. The WiFi never worked in the rooms. The taxi service was appaulling, we waited 50mins for a taxi and missed half of our wedding breakfast. The staff were unhappy and unfriendly.

Location is very good, breakfasts are excellent and generally the staff are very good. Beautiful main building and gardens, I would recommend to stay based upon my requirements.

Rooms in the mews blocks are a little tired now and need brightening up.

Excellent week away. Would definitely stay at the new palace again and would fully recommend. The only negative I would say is no air conditioning!!

We stayed at the hotel after a wedding and found it pleasant and comfortable. The facilities were fun to explore and staff were helpful.

Due to rooms being on ground-level, there is some small noise coming through from conversation of people passing outside.

    Good facilities and friendly staff.

The room was too hot and the fan was needed all the time that we were in our room. The cost of the room was double of our previous stay a year ago.

Room was comfortable but if I'd had paid £70 for a single room would have expected a better room.

The reception staff were unaware of what a compliment voucher was and if they accepted them or not, even though I was prepared to bring up the website to show them. It was only when a mananger was around in the evening was I allowed to pay with them.

we enjoyed the use of the indoor swimming pool even though we were not sure that it was free after noticing a price list in the leisure area.

we were disappointed at the size of the room and at how dark it was and that the windows didn't open up considering it was quite warm day and night.

Food was excellent. We did not interfere with weddings that were happening. So it was nice to see that they had their own private location.

Parking seemed to always be in short supply.
