The staff were very helpful, the breakfast was excellent. The location was very convenient with great views.
drinks were a bit expensive at the bar.
I liked the size of the room, facilities provided and location.
Not able to stand under the shower. Light in hallway outside door too bright and invasive. Could hear people I next room having sex. Breakfast didn't start until 8.00am
bed was extremely comfortable bathroom was lovely building is beautiful view from the balcony was very good Bar and breakfast staff were very nice
Lift was very difficult to use ( I have a broken shoulder and found it difficult to open both doors with one hand - they were also very heavy) Decor in the room was very mixed (no overall cohesion) Tea/Coffee facilities were not easy to use with one hand!
The location was excellent, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was lovely.
The bed was a little to hard.. There is no disabled access
Clean comfortable room, friendly, efficient staff and delicious hearty breakfast
the hotel staff were friendly. good breakfasts.
our bathroom light went out on our first night and wasn't fixed while we were there. small room squeezed into a corner of the corridor with a boiler by the door so not the easiest room to get in and out of.
The location overlooking the sea. The décor which is interesting and well constructed. The staff who are friendly, polite and helpful. We stayed two nights but breakfast only; fine and help yourself. Good parking. Very god value.
Looking a tad tired, nothing drastic but needs the odd touch of paint in places and very minor repair.
I'm always slightly worried when a hotel describes itself as 'boutique' as some owners seem to think being a bit wacky means they can ignore the basics. Not so at the Cottonwood. This is a well-run, clean, comfortable hotel. The staff were great, the bed uber comfortable, the standard of decoration high, bathroom modern and clean, breakfast excellent. The public areas bear the brunt of the boutique vibe and whoever did the interiors did a great job. Kitsch but classy. Bonus points to reservations for ringing me in advance to warn me it was Xmas function season so noisier than normal. In fact it was pretty peaceful and at Xmas, fair enough. The beach is ten minutes' walk down the cliff path. I'd definitely recommend this hotel.
friendly staff, good facilities ,great location on the clifftop & good hearty breckfast
The quirkyness of the decor and the entertainment
Enthusiastic and good quality service. Pleasant surroundings. Fun and kitchy interior decor. Good value for money.
Small TV screens. No internet in my room. 7am breakfast time for a business visit is a bit late.
We had a sea view room. Because it was at the end we could see the sun rising in the morning and the sun setting. I also like the fact it was just a 10 to 15 minutes walk to the town center. We just didn't use the car. For the first day, For all our evening meals we just walk to town.
All staff were friendly and helpfull. I can't fault it, breakfast was superb!

Breakfast all in with price. Comfy chair to sit on in room. Architecture and décor. Very old building full of character.
Lift door was locked. We were on Second Floor.
Hotel's right on the seafront and we had a large room with sea view. Staff are very friendly, breakfast's tasty and there's plenty of parking. Love the suits of armour in reception area, and cheerful colour scheme.
Minor gripes: firstly, bedroom lighting could have been brighter - a very common problem in hotels. And TV was so far away from the bed that we needed to move it far nearer to see.
Public areas very appeasing
The bed was very noisy and creaked and whacked against the wall not good for other quests and a slight mood killer in the throws of passion
Bar staff are pleasant and helpful and receptionists are lovely. Most of the rest of the staff are best forgotten about. No smiles, no service - guests needs?? Take them elsewhere is their attitude
Food - Fantastic one day - rubbish the next?? Draw your own conclusions!!!
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Cottonwood. The staff were lovely especially the bloke who worked the night shift. The food was excellent and the rooms were superb. Highly recommended.
Location, breakfast and staff
Room, no chair, next to lift
The lady serving breakfast was very nice and helpful, and breakfast had a nice variety of food. The room was large, the sea views were lovely and the bathroom was clean and modern.
There was a noise like a phone vibrating which seemed to be coming from the radiator.
Were the hotel was located
Not enough breakfast Kettle had to put on the floor as the lead was not long enough The outside sign light was to bright and lighting up the room
Friendly staff, lovely setting, ample parking, excellent value
Room rather small with no table to work on. However for the price this did not cause me any problems.
Breakfast was ok, nothing special. Would like to see fresh fruit, nuts & artisan bread not canned fruit, stodgy danish pastries & croissants. Staff were pleasant & hotel clean but tired, especially the bedroom corridors.
The water flow in the shower was erratic, it would be hot for a while & then it would turn cold & no amount of adjusting would solve the problem. I reported it on Fri & was advised that maintenance would have a look. The proble continued so I reported it againg only to be told that the tap had been adjusted & it was sorted. The implication was that we were not using the taps correctly.
