room was clean, nicely decorated, very good shower. food was reasonably priced and good sized portions. Staff were friendly and polite.
only one bedside cabinet in double room, sockets not in good place to use hairdryer etc and be able to see in a mirror, not a major problem but irritating.
The whole of our stay was enjoyable, staff were very helpful and polite. Would stay again.
Staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was excellent (although we were unable to sample the Wye Valley smoked fish for breakfast). Great location for visiting the area a,d very peaceful
The bathroom had been cleaned but open soap from a previous occupant had been left in the shower and the cups in the bedroom had not been cleaned thoroughly. The window in our room did not shut properly.
The staff were excellent, welcoming and helpful. Good location although a little way out of Ross (10 mins by car?). Room was as good as one would expect.
WiFi only worked in the lounge areas due to age of building but it was free so just a minor irritation!
Roaring log-fire, with a team that appeared to be genuine and working hard yet had time to be friendly. Best breakfast view one could wish for - the very part of the River Wye that gave birth to the word 'picturesque'.
Leaves on the ramp up to the chalets were a bit slippery (this was November), but for a few pounds more I could have stayed in the main building and avoided that.
Good food which was reasonably priced. Friendly staff, in particular Samantha? (or Sandra) who served us for dinner and breakfast. She's ac credit to the hotel.
One of the rooms had a shower head which would not stay in place. Another was unable to turn off central heating during the night.
Room and en suite very clean and comfortable. Very homely atmosphere, friendly staff. Wonderful food, what more could you ask for.
Friendly helpful staff
Great food, beer, service and location.
The bedroom (especially the shower room) was fairly shabby and ready for a refit.
Very nice room with 4-poster and view
On arrival, despite having booked a 4-poster room, they tried to put us in a tiny twin room in the 'annexe' across the car park!
Quiet Breakfast The staff Value for money
No phone signal No Wifi - even in the main building
Room 6 - Four poster - incredibly comfortable bed. Excellent service..loads of extra milk for the room on request. Waitress brought bottle of wine we'd left on our table up to our room. Monday Steak Night. Great menu & value at £25 for 2 meals inc (£14) bottle of wine which we brought home. Best book a table.
Just a net curtain on plain glass bathroom window so would be clearly visible to any sheep with binoculars in the field opposite :-) I just hung a bath towel on the curtain wire. Room a little chilly, but we did arrive as the weather changed for the worse.
The staff were very polite nothing was to much trouble. Food was top quality and stunning views.
Difficult to find in the dark as postcode takes you a mile down the road
the whole stay was excellent
Proximity to Ross on Wye, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere
Very close to a rather busy road.
Comfortable and cosy country inn in picturesque location. Nice rooms, pleasant bar and restaurant, good quality breakfast. Good for one night stopovers or for a few days touring in the Forest of Dean.
The steps leading down from the car park to the entrance door at the rear were a bit tricky.
Lovely obliging staff-great food and warm inviting lounge area
Room too compact also towel rail had come off leaving exposed sharp jagged tile in bathroom -still good value for money though
Lovely stay, well looked after, brilliant breakfast, we would defiantly stay again
Fabulous location, friendly staff and only a ten minute drive into Ross on Wye. Room was lovely and had a four poster bed.Meal in the restaurant was really good.
Big problems at breakfast time, we sat down at 9.00 am and were still waiting for our breakfast at 9.45 we had to approach the waiter who said that the oven had a problem. I think etiquette would have been for a member of staff to come to the tables and explain that there was a problem and maybe offer a cup of tea rather than bury their heads in the sand. There was an issue in the restaurant where a party of 8 people got up and left because they had waited for so long.
Plenty of space in family room and friendly and helpful staff
Rooms tatty. Overall vibe.. if Harvester did hotels and weddings...
Location and restaurant on site
Uncomfortable bed and felt damp
Friendly helpful staff Tasty good value meals
Cosy fire side comfy sofas. Food good and reasonably priced. Staff very friendly.
Music woke us up in the morning coming from an outside speaker from the bar. Also outside room 1 is a bit like a dumping ground, with lots of items stored untidily.
Pleasant, helpful staff. Good value.
Steps down to main building - too shallow. Needs more sound proofing. Drains a bit smelly in room.
Great place, great food, great staff
There was nothing we did not like.
