Beds rolled into middle

the location was in a really nice area with access to a train station and other local businesses, the staff were very friendly and courteous at all times.

the cleanliness of the room was ok but things that could be improved are things like replacing the shower head once limescale starts to appear and give the walls a wipe down.

Room keys got stuck in the door

I liked the welcome i received from the person who checked me in. I liked the attention and service i was given when i went into the carvery for my evening meal.

Access to the bedrooms from the carvery was difficult to manipulate as in the morning i was unable to open the door with my fob and had to go outside.

There bar service is terrible

Car parking was good although early evening there was a gang of youths hanging around the car park which put me on edge a bit. Room was quite comfortable and warm

The chef seemed to be totally surprised that people wanted breakfast 10 minutes after breakfast started and it was another 10 minutes before bacon and eggs appeared on the hot plate

Great food, very clean rooms top marks as always, breakfast is great value. stayed 4 times and will keep staying

Car park busy best time to park van before 4.30pm after 7.30pm

Excellent on site carvery, part of the Toby inn chain. Ample parking, good breakfast and big comfy rooms with nice en-suite

The Staff were very friendly and polite. The cooked breakfast was excellent.

Having to walk through the busy restaurant/dinning area with our luggage to get to our room,

The room we was in was very noisy, so noisy infact that we left our room at midnight and came home..

Good location, close to train station & cab office. Very polite, helpful & informative staff.

Towels were rough, pillows were flat lacked plump fullness. Radiator / heating was not hot enough for the room.

room cold with only one small heater, terrible draft coming in from fan in bathroom, freezing all night, not a nice experience, then woke up frozen to find no hot water, never again

Our room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The included continental style breakfast was satisfactory. The staff we met were friendly and welcoming.

The bathroom in room 2 has no window and the air extractor in the bathroom was not working. Also the shower drained very slowly and I was slightly concerned that water might overflow onto the bathroom floor.

On the other side of the road from a railway station with excellent links to central London.

The rooms are big, but a little spartan or utilitarian

It was useful for us as we were going to a funeral nearby but it's not an ideal location for London

It was in a good location for the function we attended on the saturday night. I was a bit concerned that I was not able to reserve a car parking space. However, the car park was not full when we arrived at 16.30 and we found a parking spot to my liking. The Lodge was clean from the restaurant though to the rooms. It was also convenient to have a 'cab office' next door. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

I was looking forward to a 'cooked' breakfast but the 'lack of' wouldn't prevent me from returning. I was also surprised at how quiet it was during the night. Having a room at the back of the Lodge probably helped and we did return from our function after the carvery had closed.

Carvery was excellent but crowded

Car Park was overfull at peak times and roads surrounding the hotel were narrow and difficult to find adequate parking.

When checking-in, the staff were very friendly & helpful and couldn't do enough for me to make sure I enjoyed my stay there. The car park was busy (nearly full) when we got there but that's because there's a Toby Carvery right next door and a lot of their customers were using the joint car park. However, I did find a spot & parking was free (if checking-in). The Toby Carvery was great being on the same premises because it meant I didn't have to go out hunting for some decent food in an area I don't know and after a 6hr drive, I really didn't want to go out.

When first entering the bedroom (Twin) it looked clean & spacious. Spaceious it was, however the cleanliness left a lot to be desired. Filth all round the window frames and one of the windows was painted shut! The other window took all my strength to open. Yes being on the ground level I would have thought some security would have been in place for the windows but I didn't expect the security to be paint! Although the heating was off, I do like to have some fresh air coming into a bedroom. It ended up being too warm & stuffy. The net curtains - although clean - had been put up without being ironed. This made them look too scruffy by half, from inside & outside the room. As for the toilet bowl, that could of been a heck of a lot cleaner! When was the last time a clener acutally used a brush and some bleach to clean the bowl? Housekeeper didn't do a good job on checking the room before hand. The quilt was so tightly packed on the bed that you had to unmake the bed to lay the sheets & quilt as they should have been. Not even hospitals make the beds that tight! Apart from that, we had a great nights sleep.

our room was left open one day after being cleaned. There should be a clearly separate lodge registration area. It is too close to the bar and the bar people overflow into it.
