Quiet despite being next to bar and restaurant. Friendly helpful staff and Value for money. Toby Inn restaurant serves great food at a good price.
Room was a little cold, but probably due to corner location.

Room size was good kept to reasonable cleanliness .
Bed was very hard and uncomfortable my back was killing for the three nights we stayed , a lot of flys upstairs and a dead one in our bathroom for two days , room was very warm that was a plus point but other guests need to keep noise down at night , very loud.
the food was excellent.
the pull out bed did not have a mattress and the kids could feel the metal frame through the bedding material. There were not enough pillows. Walking through a packed pub with luggage.
Friendly Staff who were very helpful. The complimentary Breakfast was really nice and all round value for money.
Room was really cold even with heater turned up full. We managed to get a room that was at the side of smoking shelter and was very noisy up till closing time. The Wifi was none existant.
Staff excellent nothing was to much trouble for them they could teach some higher star hotels much about customer care. Rooms clean comfortable and warm Stayed a few times in the last few weeks to visit relative in QE hospital idea location for this with easy access by car or bus, Good location to motorway will change previous stop off hotel when traveling to south west to this hotel based on the quality of the staff
Excellent staff, very helpful as we did two separate bookings due to availability staff moved all our belongings on changing room Excellent location for QE hospital Rooms large, clean and warm Not skimpy on rooms tea/coffee Helpful staff is what made this the place to stay in Birmingham
It was a good stay, with very little to complain about
Getting a parking space on Saturday night, and having difficulty getting through the crowd to get to the rooms entrance. (Trivial)
Extractor fans machinery on 24/7 outside bedroom window. Also noise from bin/beer keg area. Will ask for a room on the road side of the building next time.
Cavery was lovely all fresh, room was lovely and clean tea & coffee well stocked up,whole place in general was clean and staff were very friendly
One window wasnt double glazed so could hear everything outside, bed was too soft
It is the third time we have stayed here. We like the location as it's close to family who we visit. Also as easy access to the city and motorway network.
On each occasion the staff on reception have been very unwelcoming and very unfriendly. It's as if guests are an after thought and the only concern is local business. If it wasn't for the location we would stay somewhere else.
Easy to find with friendly, helpful staff. Spacious, well stocked room, great parking Lovely food and great breakfast
Would prefer an earlier check-in time.
Nice big room with comfy bed. The Lodge is a Toby Carvery so if you don't want to go out you can enjoy a cheap plentiful meal on site. The breakfast was alright but I only got the continental breakfast included which was disappointing.
Busy location on a dual carriageway made it difficult to get into the car park. The building is old and looks it inside, the decor needs updating. The building is cold and damp and smells of smoke from the pub customers smoking by the door.
Food good, location and spacious car park
Reception service poor, no second key; booking for dinner with guests not made as requested at booking. Staff removed the cash box's of gaming machines and just left them in the doorway to the bedrooms fo anyone to trip over. The fire alarm went off at 1145 and all the guests were faced with a locked door and giggling staff on the other side. Management obviously very poor and lax and will spoil what should be a good venue.
Door wouldn't shut. Carpet was dirty. Shower broken.
Room was massive, comfy and was put at the fair side which was good with a child
Check in at the pub bar on a busy Friday night and the alarm constantly going off in the stair case
Room was clean and comfy Food in restaurant was pleasant Drinks at bar were reasonably priced
The attitude of the kitchen staff - rude and obnoxious in front of customers. Used a vacuum to clean carvery area while customers were still eating in restaurant, which was very noisy and disruptive. The attitude of the waiting staff - got the feeling that because we weren't regulars and that we wanted to eat at 9pm on a Friday and Saturday night that this was an inconvenience for them. The waiting staff seemed very impatient and just wanted to get our orders over and done with as soon as possible. The attitude of the manager - when we complained to the manager about the kitchen staff - about their attitude in front of customers, missing food and disruptive cleaning - he offered an insincere apology and seemed to be more concerned for his chefs than for his customers. He was very out of his depth in his role as manager and clearly didn't have any regard for us. The fact that the PAT / safety tests on many of the electrical appliances in the hotel room were out of date by a good few years (including an electric heater). After discussions with other members of the group, they too had out-of-date safety checked appliances, which is very, very poor and potentially dangerous.
Wonderful choice of continental breakfast joan always cheerful and looks after you. manager helpful, as are all staff. easy access as i am disabled - same would apply for a pram spacious room pleny of tea and coffee plenty of clean towels. easy access parking plenty of shops and chemist opposite bus stop outside, petrol station close by, easy to find off m5 junc3 quick to check you in pay at bar when you arrive
bed now a bit worn bit cold in the room we have stayed in warmer weather before but duvet lovely.
comfort of the bed, size of the family room, peace and quiet on the third floor, friendly staff. There is a distance to walk (stairs and corridors) but we only had a small wheelie case each so it wasn't a problem.
discomfort of the sofa bed, lack of a bath (only a shower), having to walk through the bar to check in and to get to our room.
Location Breakfast Staff Service
Room was fine
Restaurant. First night bill wrong but undercharged which we informed the staff immediately. Second night overcharged by 3 carveries in the Toby Carvery. Third night didn't receive food ordered and when the chef was told he said he hadn't received order which waitress said she had put through. They then proceeded to have an argument about it in front of us (8 customers just trying to have a nice relaxing meal after a long day manning a stand at the NEC Classic Car Show). Then at 10.00 o'clock which was time that last orders were allowed till, the chef put on a very loud vac and proceeded to vac out carvery area which was very close to where we sat - totally unacceptable. Complained to manager who said he couldn't be everywhere at once! He did knock off a large proportion of the bill in the end after a bit of an argument with us and gave us comp.coffees but would have preferred to pay full price and have good service. Extremely poor. Will never go there again. Shame because we have used Innkeepers Lodge many times and they have been wonderful. It was the Toby Carvery that let everything down. Very poor indeed. hospitability of the staff and clean enviroment
no reception at all for us to use the wi fi
It's great to get a hotel that isn't full of boxes. This has character and history with one-of -a- kind spacious, warm and cosy rooms. Breakfast is good and the carvery is great value. Would use this chain more often if there were more in the UK.
Family room could use a proper second double bed instead of sofa pull out with lumpy springs. This also prevents using the sofa to relax and watch TV. Duvets need to be larger to cover up to neck.
Free WiFi with no dropouts, staff very good
