The welcome from the staff at check in, the size of the room and the quality of the evening meal.
Really liked the hotel, we stayed in the out building. Large room and bathroom. Location was great for us, just outside of chester right next to the canal. Enjoyed an evening meal in the pub, lovely waitresses.
The bed was rock solid! Not a very comfy nights sleep unless you like your mattress very hard! Just a couple of niggles. . . Couple of bulbs out and a couple of cobwebs on the ceiling. My husband found the room too hot but I personally like it toasty !
Good location and very friendly staff. Good choice of real ales and food in the restaurant was first class with excellent service. Spacious room in the main building and very good value for money. Will definitely stay again next time I am in the area.
Staff very friendly, food un-fussy but good.
We were staying for 4 days and arrived early in the morning knowing we couldn't book in until 3pm. We was given a warm welcome on arriving and decided to have a drink and look around the village but the manager said he would see if our room was available for us and within 20 minutes we were shown to our room . All the staff were very friendly and always had time to ask how our day was. One evening when we went down for our evening meal, I was feeling under the weather with a head cold and cough,we ordered our meals and while waiting for them the young girl serving us brought me a glass of hot water, honey and lemon without even asking which I thought was very kind and unexpected. We will definitely be visiting again.
We stayed in room 9 in the annex and although it was a comfortable room the layout could be set out differently allowing a couple of chairs to be put in. Otherwise I couldn't fault it.
Accommodation Convenience Facilities
Impressed with staff, very welcoming and professional throughout stay.
Great location. Friendly staff. Pub/restaurant excellent in the evening - old fashioned English charm with roaring log fires and good food. Gardens also looked very nice. Family room spacious.
Beds a bit uncomfortable (old madrasses). Continental breakfast disappointing (no meat or cheese as you would normally find on the continent!) and they would run out of items. Staff, although not very busy in the breakfast room, struggled to cope.
Friendliness and professionalism of all staff.good food reasonable pice.
Friendly staff, location, excellent service and delicious food.
Bed was slightly hard
Everything was great ,food , staff rooms ,etc. BRILL
There wasn't any setting in the rooms
Friendly staff, convenient for getting to Chester on park and ride.
Having to drive to park and ride, or 15-20min walk away
Food was good in the Cheshire Cat. Good size bathroom.
Bed was very uncomfortable therefore didn`t sleep well. Went down for breakfast at 9:00 a.m.and we were disappointed to be told that there was no more orange juice left,no white bread for toast and we had to find our own milk for the cereal. We wouldn`t stay again.
We were in the lodge part next to the canal lovely rooms very spacious and clean
When we arrived we loved the whole feel to the hotel, from the wooden fire to the bar and lounge area. The staff where great and our room was just outside the main bar and we couldn't of been happier with our stay. We will be coming back again.
Nothing really except there where a few ladybirds in our room but once we managed to close the window we had no problems.
The location was great for our purpose of exploring Chester city. It was a good room, comfortable and well appointed, although a little smaller than we expected. The bathroom was very spacious. Facilities were good and very handy to have dinner at night without going out again. Breakfast was good and well presented. Staff helpful.
Although it was very quiet when we were there we wondered if it would be noisy during the summer as the room overlooked the canal with a number of canal boats parked close by.
Friendliness of staff, cleanliness, location by the canal. Good bathroom.
Very small double room.
Staff were welcoming, efficient and clear. The meal we had was excellent and well priced, as were the wines.
The bed was worn, lumpy and one could feel the springs. The pillows were hard and worn. The window was screwed shut and this made the room excessively hot (although we had no heating on) and difficult to sleep.
Friendly pub and excellent evening meal. Room spacious and ideal for a family of four.
Staff in the morning were not very attentive and even though it was self service it would have been nice of them to check there was enough bread, croissants etc for everyone.
Had a lovely three night stay.food very nice and convenient as lodge open all day.
Mattress not the most comfortable. Two chairs would have been nice but do appreciate there is not much space. Basic English breakfast not included in charge
The rooms, The location, The Staff, the food, the price, everything
Nice atmosphere and gardens.
Very clean and inviting room, with historic and excellent premises. Breakfast was very good and dinner was very affordable and good. Overall, top notch.
