Great location, perfect for a couple of nights away. Also only a 5 min walk to train station if you want to explore further afield. Lovely brisk walk across the forth bridge too!
Staff weren't the friendliest and also no reception area so you could end up spending a while looking for someone to help with any queries. Only little things though which didn't affect us having a lovely break.
Friendly, cosy, clean, comfortable, good food. Free breakfast. Beautiful village. Easy drive to Edinburgh Airport from here.
Nothing to dislike about this hotel. If you don't like the sound of trains going by you may have a different opinion though. It didn't bother us.
The bedroom was cosy and having the open view over the forth was perfect.
The shower off the bedroom was in need of some upgrade.
Attentive staff, ambiance,room,food, warm atmosphere,
The room was clean and well furnished, comfortable bed and excellent power shower. The complimentary breakfast was fresh and had a good selection. Staff were friendly and helpful.
The doors at the top of the stairs to the bedroom corridor was narrow and difficult to open, and there were buckets catching drips at the top of the stairs. Shower tiling had seen better days, and some evidence of mildew.
Cosy, comfortable ambience. Nicely furnished and decorated. The quality of the food was very good. Staff were friendly an helpful, but I never saw a manager around!
The sign hanging outside the windows of rooms 6 & 7 made a dreadful noise at night, when swinging in the wind. I complained and was told it would be sorted...it wasn't !!! The bathroom and shower ceiling height is very low, so if you are 6' or over you won't be able to stand up properly. Only continental breakfast offered, cooked food is extra.
Lovely room,great location,staff very friendly.
The location of the hotel was excellent for us as we were attending a local wedding. View at breakfast was very interesting looking at the two bridges. Room was comfortable and warm
Check in was a bit disorganised
Very comfortable, location lovely, staff great.
Lack of Wi-Fi in bedroom, bed a bit on soft side.
Stayed overnight only for wedding. Great situation, good parking
Staff friendly and helpful especially Lee at breakfast.
Could do with a freshen up
Room, location, real pub feel
Noisy doors slamming
The staff were great and very helpful, room was lovely with stunning view Great meal in atmospheric restaurant
Staff were excellent and gave excellent service.
My friend and I booked two double rooms with views over the river which we got but unfortunately my friends room which was in the Gatekeepers lodge was smelling badly of cigarette smoke...this was not immediately acknowledged by the Duty Manager but a member of staff went along to room and confirmed that it was indeed "stinking" of cigarette smoke. We also felt that the difference in rooms...I was in room 10 which was fabulous and my friend was in room 2 did not warrant the same price. When we spoke to the duty manager in the morning she accompanied us to room 2 and also confirmed that room / corridor was "stinking" of cigarette smoke which my friend said had kept her awake at nite. We were fortunate in that your manager refunded price of room but feel disappointed that this interfered with our stay.
Everything apart from ...........
Main line train goes right over your head every 10 minutes but didn't expect anything else on realising location. Got used to it after a while
Pub, room, location
Bathroom could do with updating
location and large carpark large room with nice furniture in
wifi very poor bed very small double in a large room shame just a continental breakfast in price
Very friendly staff, good breakfast and evening meal menu.
Requirement to pay for WiFi in a hotel that advertises it's availability - misleading.
Nice friendly hotel the staff are very nice and nothing is to much bother. The rooms are comfortable and warm. This is our second visit and will definitely be going again. Queensferry is a great place to visit with plenty to do in surrounding areas.
Setting on Firth of Forth.
Beds were uncomfortably soft, constant noise & rumbling from trains overhead with single glazed windows meant almost no sleep till way after midnight, as we had to leave at 4am this meant in effect almost no sleep. Mastick work in bathroom looked like it had been applied with a large spoon, very unsightly, also mould on some of the shower walls beside bad mastik. Flooring in bathroom badly warped with sharp raised edges on the laminate.
Incredible view of the Forth bridge. The room was huge and very comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful
The view is exceptional the food was excellent
The train noise from the Forth rail bridge is excessive
We were especially impressed with one of the servers who also was in charge of the continental breakfast. We didn't catch her name but her attention to detail and helpfulness in calling us a cab was very much appreciated. Kathie, Washington State, USA
The hotel food was lovely Staff very busy but gave good service to all . Lee was on breakfast herself but took time with everyone, thank you Lee.
Although the room was clean and comfortable we had to ask for a second chair. Would have been nice to have comfortable chairs as the room was large enough. The shower was clean but the grouting was back in places. The downside was the trains as we were right under the railway bridge. For this reason alone we would probably not stay there again.
