Rustic atmosphere, friendly staff , lovely location and very reasonable food. Trip was made even better as I had Aileen with me and my new car The asparagus and mushroom mousse was a major letdown and they ran out of croissants and mushrooms at breakfast

Sitting outside as it was a nice enough day overlooking the forth. There was nothing that we didn't like, apart from maybe updating the rooms a bit.

The location is excellent. Great parking and very good welcome at check-in. Warm and homely. The room was huge and comfortable with great heating when needed. Very clean. Evening meal was excellent and excellent service. Special mention to breakfast and the hostess, Lee. She made a great breakfast memorable. Nothing

Very welcoming staff at dinner and breakfast. Dinner lovely. Large clean comfortable room. Service at check in and bar service slow. May have been timing but the impression left was that there was slight under-staffing at the bar as I and several people had to wait circa 10-15 minutes or more for service. Wifi and mobile coverage very patchy.

The room was very spacious & excellent value for money. Excellent breakfast & very friendly staff. Registering on arrival was a nightmare - had to join the same queue for people ordering at the bar for food & drinks. Room had one or two minor repairs needed - handle missing from wardrobe & door lock loose on main door into room. No residents lounge which would have been ok but most of the space was devoted for diners - only small middle section available if just wanting a drink - place was busy & told by member of staff that dining area was for diners only! Answered yes below but would point out dislikes at same time

We loved every minute of our stay at South Queensferry. My two children 9yrs and 8yrs want us to book to go back. The staff were so friendly and very helpful when my children couldn't connect to the wifi. Nothing was a bother to the staff, very helpful. My children thought it was Paul's hotel, he was always there to give us help and advice. We would recommend this to our family and friends and we will be back for more.

Fireplaces in lounge make it very comfy. Old vintage style decor. Lovely food at good price. For price of stay I would have liked full English breakfast rather than only continental. More bar snacks / room service out of meal hours.

The staff were I credibly busy with the Hogmaney celebrations and the Loony Dook on New Year's Day but nothing was too much trouble for them and that always had a smile . The breakfast lady who I think was called Linda explained the history of the establishment and she was only too willing to answer how many questions. Definitely an asset to the establishment Absolutely nothing

Nice room and hotel has lots of character. Food was very good. Our breakfast server was particularly helpful and friendly. Service was very slow and the attitude of some bar staff left a bit to be desired. Very odd for a hotel to stop serving alcohol at 11pm for hotel guests and to have no social area for guests to be able to sit after bar hours
