Score from 172 reviews Good
The location was excellent. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Food from menu was good.
Overlooking car park and noisy air conditioning outside window. WiFi wasn't free as advertised. Dirty cutlery. Had to pay for room on arrival - poor trust.
Excellent atmosphere just what you want as an antidote to plastic hotels. I enjoyed my short stay and would use again.
Breakfast good Ample bathroom Location superb Friendly staff
Generator noise in bedroom throughout night.
The hotel is situated fairly high up on the moors, giving stunning views, but not too far from Ilkley (and taxis to and from town are very reasonable). The staff were helpful and friendly.
Difficult to say as it was extremely windy when we stayed so there was a lot of "noise" throughout, mainly caused from the wind.
Location, comfortable rooms and good food. Staff tried hard and were obliging.
Having to pay for room when checking in before seeing rooms - poor move. Disgusting cutlery that should not have been issued to customers and this happened several times. Lack of management.
came in at 10 pm and had a job to get in was not told about a late entrance
superb location and lovely helpful staff. Breakfast was good, though no cooked breakfast.
Beds not the most comfortable and the first night there was a heating vent right outside our window. Mentioned it to the staff and the room was changed no problems.
No shower in bathroom.
staff very friendly, good price and excellent location
I didn't like being asked a number of times to settle my hotel bill. I like putting everything on my room and settling on departure. I normally expect to have my card swiped and then there is no chance that the hotel will be worried about me not paying. I opened a bill in the bar in the afternoon and was asked to settle but extended this to cover the evening meal. I was then asked to settle again which I did. Then at breakfast I was asked to pay again for a hot breakfast. It was irritating and almost implied that I was likely to try and make off without payment. I sensed some of the staff felt embarrassed to keep asking and it let down an otherwise excellent stay.
stayed night before a course in the town. Staff very friendly and helpful and hotel welcoming. We are in the restaurant and the food was beautiful. We had a twin room which was spacious with a large bathroom.
Room was a good size warm and comfortable.had complimentary continental breakfast
Location, comfort, selection of beers, friendliness of staff & cleaners. I'm only sorry I hadn't visited before, particularly as an ex M&B employee at Cape Hill Brewery, your old original HQ.
Food prices I thought a little steep and a limited selection of snack type options. Before arriving I couldn't really get any sense in terms of availability or prices from booking.com or your central hq regarding itemized small hot food options viz bacon sandwich or boiled egg. They repeated said only full English available.
Quiet room and good beds.
The shower needed to be stronger, very weak dribble. The room was not very warm.
food and location above Ilkley near the rocks
seemed to be a severe staff shortage
Very friendly staff. Comfortable and familiar after several visits
Listed building, so no lift
Local to family and a lovely place to stay. Had some snow which left a lovely picture of the moors. Local to Ilkley town.
Poor shower pressure for water Small bed (double, uncomfortable mattress). When snowed a bit slow to put out grit which had turned to ice, very slippy.
Room was spacious, bathroom modern and clean the shower huge with plenty of hot water. All the staff were friendly, approachable and always helpful. Food was good and value for the money though we did eat out most of the time due to us travelling around Yorkshire. Location of the hotel was perfect with great views over Wharfedale and of Cow and Calf Rocks. Recommend this hotel to anyone.
The option for a full English breakfast was there but at £6.95 per person we decided to keep to the Continental. The entry code on the key fob had been erased through wear and tear and so couldn't read it. Only a minor hick up though.
Could not open a window
Very friendly staff and good value, plus a fine setting
The bed was past its prime
The staff are very friendly and helpful. The weather was quite cold but it always felt warm and comfortable inside.
