The rooms are part of an historic pub that is surrounded by moorland. The location is superb if you are walkers, cyclers or similar and wish to enjoy the moors above Hathersage and Grindleford. The food is very good and the menu varied. The staff are very friendly. An excellent base.

The location was good for visiting the attractions, walking and cycling in the Peaks. The food and family room were all of a good standard and the staff were pleasant and helpfull.

There wasn't anything we didn't like.

Staff could not do enough, everyone was so friendly Good food Location for bakewell was good Very good location for walking, cycling etc. Bed was very comfortable Shower very good The decor was very good, loved the carpet!

Pay for wifi Ground floor noisy, could hear upstairs residents moving around. Full english breakfast could have been an option When we initially arrived the tables in the bar had plates and glasses etc which needed clearing up, which it was later when we had evening meal.

We stayed for three nights and enjoyed comfortable accommodation, the staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. Would highly recommend it.

Wi-fi was available free of charge but the reception was very poor.

Comfortable, spacious family room. Clean with good facilities. Well stocked hospitality tray. Complimentary items available if needed such as sewing kit, razor etc. Good to be able to contact the hotel directly on a standard landline without using expensive 08 numbers and waiting for ages for an answer. Continental breakfast had plenty of choice and cooked breakfast available at a cost if preferred.

Too far out of Hathersage for an an evening stroll. Poor wi-fi connection and speed.

Good value if booked in advance. Big family room, clean and quiet. Location is perfect for walking. There were no surcharges for parking or breakfast either.

Probably not perfect for families with very small children because of busy road.

Only stayed for one night but loved the place. The restaurant/pub area was gorgeous and we had a great breakfast with some lovely English muffins. There is a beautiful walk just across the road.

The phone number listed on my reservation from booking.com directed me to a main office that closes at 6pm. Not much use when you are a bit lost at 10 at night! this may be an error on booking.com s behalf though.

It was a rather circuitous route to the room, but worth the walk. The room was large, comfortable, and clean. The dinner was delicious. Very pretty area for a walk.

The restaurant and hotel staff are the same, so there are very strict time frames to be observed.

Location was beautiful and handy for Chatsworth. Food was excellent, and staff couldn't have been better.

Lots of cigarettes on the ground outside and at breakfast our serviettes from the previous evening were still on the floor.

Location , quant building, friendly staff.

Hated the fact that my mobile signal was blocked. Am terminally ill and feared that I was out of contact with my cancer nurse.

Staff very polite, helpful & efficient. The grounds & interior were well maintained. Room was fab, spacious, clean & fresh. Busy road outside did not impact in the comfort of our stay. Food was reasonably priced & good.

No hot water. We were not the only customers to complain about same. Have to subscribe to use Wi-Fi. No options for food for children - even half-sized would be ok. We had to order from standard menu but food came out on large HOT plates which were a hazard to all.

Great location, lovely food and service.

very poor wifi, limited phone coverage, felt very cut off - and being on a business trip this was an issue. bathroom window sealed, so no fresh air, windows - couldnt open very wide. The area is surrounded by countryside, but sleeping in the rooms felt like being sealed in!

All the staff were fabulous, friendly and attentive without being over bearing.

Lots of cigarette ends on the ground outside, and our servitude and wine bottle top were on the floor from the previous night when we went for breakfast on the Sunday morning.

Couldn't connect to wifi as I didn't have any reception to receive the message with pass code in it.

Good location, handy for Chatsworth House and other locations in Peaks

Didn't realise there was an option for cooked breakfast, until after finished continental breakfast.

The friendly greeting when we arrived. And interesting layout of the bar. The size of our room.

The room information said breakfast is from 7am to 9.30am. arriving at 7.50 on Thursday morning was told by a team leader in a very snooty manner that it's from 8.am.It would have been nice if she had smiled when telling us.
