The wifi wasn't to good
Rooms and bar/restraint
Location was excellent for walks
Don't expect luxury and you'll be very happy.
Great and very helpful staff. Good food. Outstanding location and grat starting point for hikes through 'Jane Eyre/Robin Hood-Country' - i.e. to Hathersage or Stanage Edge. Simple rooms with comfortable beds. Vintage dining rooms and corners.
Rooms not so nice as on our last visit and were disappointing. It seems they are a different business to the pub (which I didn't realise). No wifi was a big issue for the teens. Also they seemed a little stretched because the nice weather was a surprise but rallied around well to make our stay an overall pleasant one. Booked again in August but think I will request the room I liked specifically.
The Fox is well located for exploring the peaks, has excellent food and a very homely atmosphere. Great value for money.
Slow Wi-fi. No mobile connection in room.
Staff was really friendly. Great room size. Cot for a baby. Food in pub is good. Great location, beautiful views. Room in good condition. Loved traditional English atmosphere of this place.
Trouble with my sat nav finding it
Location, in the middle of nowhere. Large bedroom. Open fires in restaurant.
Guests above us were very noisy at unreasonable times - from 1.30am to 6.00 and the bed was very uncomfortable, being lumpy and bouncy
Pub was lovely, excellent food
friendly staff, nice room, great location
Could not get connected to the WiFi
Rooms were big, clean and had all I required for my stay. They also accommodated my request via Booking.com which is always a plus for me. Location and actual set-up of hotel was very good. Restaurant menu looked good but did not get time to eat. Staff very helpful and polite.
Nothing although wifi was tricky due to poor phone signal No big deal for me but I know some people simply cannot function without iPhone and iPad
The location was absolutely spot on for us The staff were without exception all top class Food and beer also top notch Accommodation was in two separate blocks - very spacious and comfortable All in all a great place with good beer, food and staff - highly recommended
We had the comfort of all the group of 14 adults being served and eating meals together in front of a welcoming open fire. All the staff were pleasant and nothing was too much trouble for them. The bedrooms were very comfortable with crisp white bed linen.
1) door leading into the corridor to the 2 rooms needs attention. one good push and anyone would be in. 2) so much noise from the room above - every footstep, cough etc. I was told it was listed building and couldn't do anything and to take upstairs room next time!??BUT perhaps sound proofing downstairs? it sounded like a herd of elephants and was only 2 people and not their fault. So not good sleep. Pity.
comfortable clean spacious room, easy to regulate temperature so warm. easy parking. Friendly helpful staff.
The WiFi is slow and there is very little phone reception, but that's not their fault!
Open fires, really excellent food, lovely friendly staff and a beautiful setting!
They did not allow our 22 year old son to have a half pint of beer with his full evening meal!
The rooms were large and comfortable.
No phone signal and internet wasn't working as well
The staff was amazing. The bedrooms was very spacious
Bed really uncomfortable - mattress lumpy and really lets the whole experience down
Location, food, atmosphere, good service from all staff
Bed was old and needs replacing...room a little tired
Staff, good menu and choice, helpful at checkin and checkout.great location next to Longshaw park..woul love to return again
family room sofa bed past its best but otherwise room very comfortable
location, ambience, food, breakfast
The cot they provided was fine but the mattress was very hard, I would recommend that they provide a nicer mattress for the cots.
Staff very friendly, anything you asked for they would provide. I would stay here again.
Wifi and phone reception was poor.
Close location to city but made you feel like you were in the middle of the countryside. Decor of the Fox Inn was very traditional and beautifully Xmas themed.
Bed was not comfortable
Location, friendliness of staff, restaurant
breakfast was cleared away at speed and that felt a bit unfriendly - not a big problem, but could have been more accommodating. It was absolutely fine though :)
convenience Cleanliness Booking efficiency Comfortable room Good value
Clean and comfortable good amenities. Lovely breakfast and good beer.
Bed was a little too soft for me and my hubby, however you can't suit everyone.
We were welcomed by the friendly staff and given a warm, large room. The menu was great, and the pub had a couple of real fires. Just what you want a a cold winters night. Great location for us as a stop over before a weekend in Castleton. Beautiful surrounding countryside.
Shower in upstairs room a bare trickle, though downstairs OK. Croissants for breakfast too hard to eat.
Friendly service, quality of restaurant food/beer. Room basic but spacious
