Comfortable , clean rooms - friendly helpful staff , plenty of parking
Bed was very comfortable heating in room en suite & lovely food in restaurant & not forgetting the value
The shower could have been a bit higher had to bend to get right under it
Location, parking, excellent helpful staff. Clean pleasant hotel.
Bed a little small. But adequate.
I liked the fact that it was attached to a bar and that everything was fairly priced in the bar , and the room was lovely and spacious
bed was comfortable, and nice and quiet during the night when the parties in the function room had finished.
room in need of new decor, wall paper peeling, bathroom door coming apart and mouldy grouting around the bath. Window catch broken so couldn't close properly. This normally wouldn't be to much of a problem but our room was the car park side of the building near the function room. Each night there was a function on until around midnight, with associated loud music and people talking or being rowdy in the smoking area which is near the hotel entrance by the car park and just a stones throw from our room.
Location next to motorway links.
Hotel looking a bit shabby.
Reported faults - light bulb replacement took 2 hours. Towel rail on but not working, bathroom cold. Bathroom light and extractor fan would not switch off, therefore, on all night on both nights. Reported Saturday 3 p.m. not fixed Monday 10.00 a.m. Facilities only considered fair for an Executive Room. Also function in nearby Lounge meant car park totally full when I got back at 8 p.m. and music was still playing at 11.30 p.m.
Large Rooms Good shower Good location
Aged decor Christmas parties in function rooms both nights during stay Had to pay upfront though booking.com and could not cancel
not knowing that breakfast was not on the bill.
Nice large room -- but _-------------
Bed was very uncomfortable, because mattress was old and lumpy. Loud music went on until 1am!! Room decor was poor - wallpaper peeling off - holes in walls - in need of redecoration badly !!!!
Comfortable and spacious room. Excellent breakfast.
Can't fault it
Good value for money.
It needs updating,as its look a little tired.
all staff were friendly and very helpful throughout our stay. Will e going back again.
On arrival 2 receptionists. 1serving a customer the other said l will b with u shortly. Felt invisible after that. Was waiting, a male member of staff came along & asked for a room he could shower in that evening. He was dealt with whilst l was standing waiting to be signed in. Attitude if staff not good.
Friendly welcoming hotel, staff were welcoming and the attached pub was ok but didn't experience the food in the hotel. Breakfast was reasonably priced and enjoyable, if basic. Night staff member was amazingly helpful.
THE BED! It was as hard as rock and we were unable to sleep. We had to resort to taking the cushions off of the sofa and putting them on the bed. My friend was given a camp bed in the night. We would not have stayed a second night for this reason only. No vegetarian breakfast options available but this is a minor point.
We return to the In Lodge again and again as it's the ideal location for where we like to visit in Portsmouth and Southsea, the rooms are adequate and comfy, plenty of tea and coffee, lovely shower and nice and warm, and the nearby "Farmhouse" is suitable. We will come again.
The hotel is now starting to look a bit tired, and would benefit from a refurb, the towel rail in our bathroom didn't work, but we lived with that, and the extractor in the bathroom was pointless, all it did was make a noise! Little problems, that I fear may build up to eventually getting customers annoyed.
Staff friendly & helpful, door keycard stopped working but was sorted within a few minutes without issue. Good value for money for drinks and food.
A bit noisy late at night with people outside the bar/function room but expected this as it looked like a hen party or similar - to be fair website does warn of this. Didn't disrupt our stay.
location we now have a new grandson and thought he would have room to move about which was ok on the Friday but on the Saturday a private function was in the main bar which lead us to have to use the very busy pub next door which spoilt our enjoyment.
we felt we should have been told about the bar considering there was 6 adults and an infant.
We loved it all.
I have already told you I got fleas from this hole
Very easy to find. Reception staff very pleasant. Easy book in. Very happy with room and facilities, until......
Tried to have a shower the following morning @ 6am. The water was cold.....very hot from the bath tap though....but then I couldn't turn off the bath tap (fortunately my partner could. Rang the night porter, who was not at all helpful. He said he would report it in the maintenance log, which didn't help me at all. He said I could speak to the duty manager, who would be in at 8am....unfortunately we were catching the ferry to Santander before that time.
Good clean hotel close to city centre.
We were charged for breakfast as an extra when booked through Booking.com, when it would have been included if the booking had been made direct with the hotel.
the night receptionist was very rude and abrupt when being asked a question
