Noice at front
Breakfast room was tired. Hotel is next to a busy motorway and rooms at the front of the hotel (facing the carpark) get to hear all the traffic 24 hours.
We had a large, clean, comfortable room. Food was ok from the bar, surroundings nice by the lake!
We origiganly wanted the family room on the ground floor with lake view as we had a dog with us and my partner smoked, but we're told there is no family rooms on ground level, we had to accept what we were given! Luckily our dog was well behaved and my partner coped!
View of the lake
Over hasty waitress didn't make my husband fully aware of breakfast choices ( and was taking away someone else's plate while they were still eating)
Close to the main road, good food comfortable
To be fair, mostly ok, with helpful staff and everything clean. Evening meal ok, although fairly expensive. Breakfast reasonable.
70s decor, incredibly noisy road outside. Luckily was in room on the lake side, and little noise was heard, but wouldn't have wanted to be at the front. Altogether about 1/3 overpriced. Very small towels.
Ease of gaining access to major roads and rail services. Quite atmosphere even though we were close to A2.
Toaster either it was too high or too low for making toast. Bigger variety for breakfast.
The lake and ducks, perfect for sitting beside with a drink on an autumn evening. Good breakfast. Good sized room with lovely view of the lake.
Decor generally 'tired' and some areas dated. TV too small for the room.
LAKE AND PEACE
The rooms were very clean and very nice and comfortable in fact everywhere was very clean !
In the morning the staff in the restaurant were to quick to come over and ask you what you want. You didn't get a chance to sit down and think what you might like to have. It made me feel like their wanted you in and out but I must say the breakfasts were very nice.
Very clean relaxing friendly staff excellent value for the room restaurant and bar great experience
easy booking lovely full English breakfast comfortable bed
no fridge no wifi
the location over looking the lake Problem with toilet was immediately resolved with a new room
we were given a room where the toilet did not flush Rooms are very tired which is such a shame as the location is really good. has become a contractors hotel
The location is very picturesque. The staff at reception were lovely and helpful.
Our bedroom walls must have been so thin as we could hear the people next door going to the toilet and their conversations.Staff in resturant were abrupt and not helpful.late night wedding guests shouting outside our room at 1am.
Nice big clean room. Good reception and bar staff. Food excellent value for money and served till 10.30pm which was what we needed after a long day competing at a cycle event.
Breakfast on the Sunday wasn't served till 8am. We had an early practice at our event on the Sunday but they wouldn't serve earlier so we had to snatch a quick toast and coffee. Noise from other guests kept us awake on Saturday evening although this not the hotels fault.
Just being able to relax with lovely view of the lake.
Being rushed at breakfast still eating cereal when my main breakfast arrived resulting at it being cold.
The rooms was spacious and had everything you would need, and the patio doors out onto lake were a nice touch. Rooms were clean and well maintained. Staff helpful and explained facilities in hotel very well.
The room stank of smoke as this property still has smoking rooms. So if you are a non smoker make sure you request non-smoking room. There were patio doors leading to outside, so think smokers would happily go out there for a cigarette. Also the decor was a little out of date. Signage little confusing, directed my to 1st floor for my room when in fact it was on ground floor!
Perfect location for where we needed to be. Lovely views out onto the lake. Reception staff were extremely helpful when we had an issue. Lots to choose from at breakfast.
Room next door arguing very early in the morning and woke us up and didn't sleep after that.
I often stay here on business - not flash but big rooms, clean and handy location
nice big room, comfortable bed, and helpful staff
Night porter excellent
Very evident that most areas had been given a lick of paint a few years ago. but underlying repairs not made. my first room had a leaking roof and evidence that the leak had been there for a very long time. Also had a row over breakfast !! went up to supposedly the owner who was happy to be quiet bombastic in the restaurant in front of other guests, My family have had hotels in the area from pre WW2 until the early 90's and they would never have behaved as this man did. Staff through no fault of their own had no idea how to correctly wait on table, timings were terrible the cooked breakfast arrived and was placed on your table well before any one was through their cereals, and the bar staff could definitely not pull a pint of Irish Stout, (I even offered to demonstrate but they did not want to know). Meals over priced and despite the claim of being "home made" were definitely not good i.e. Lasagne served on plate hot enough to give serious burn, and yet the inside of the lasagne was cold and the pasta sheets were as tough as old boots
Old style room
Staff, bit grumpy
The bar food was very nice and reasonably priced
Hotel is extremely dated. Hotel is overpriced. Room was a bit smelly because of damp. Bathroom had silverfish because of damp. Wireless was terrible! Everything was pine! Inn on the lake? I only saw a car park.
