Very good breakfast, rooms spotless, staff bright cheerful helpful
Nothing not to like
This hotel has changed beyond recognition. We have visited for four years & until this year thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Now no lounge or proper dining room ..There are too many changes to name here and we are sending more details direct to hotel. We will not be going again.
The rooms was very warm
Not enough pillars on bed breakfast had a good range only trouble was not hot enough and could do with double glazed windows could not sleep with the constant traffic all night
Room and bathrooms is nice relax and perfect watch tv for while and good shower
Not like thin duvet need thick duvet for winter to right warm when better sleep and not happy with mirror in bathroom too high can't see the chin should be mirror move little down to better see thanks!!
Very welcoming. Relaxed atmosphere friendly people. Lovely breakfast .All added to an enjoyable weekend.
bedrooms were clean and bathroom clean
don't like climbing many stairs there was no water jug or water glasses breakfast room looked untidy with chairs stacked up in view while eating our meal
Good breakfast and plenty of it. Accomodating staff, moved us when asked to, gave extra pillows with a cheery smile.
Poor parking for a disabled driver. Wasn't told of the noisy party that was there on the Saturday night. But with help from the staff, we didn't suffer for long. Address not recognised by my TomTom sat nav
When I arrived I was told my booking had been canceled but I hadn't received an email which they said I should of. So instead of the nice room I'd requested (which was a double) I was given a shabby twin room. I wish I'd of been informed before as I would of changed the hotel.
Clean Very good food Good value for money
Car park, very steep from car to hotel door
Comfortable, room was clean and fairly well decorated Good Breakfast was included in the room price. Great value for the money I remember this hotel from the 80's it certainly isn't up to that standard now
Bathroom needs updating Taps need attention Windows need sound proofing against the road noise No evening Meals
not to happy with a wet room,
Room size was good
It's easier to list what we did like which was the room size!! Upon arriving at the hotel we discovered that to park we had to go down a hill that was extremely steep and then climb back up the hill to get to the hotel entrance as there was no other way into the hotel!! We got to our room to discover we were in a room directly above the smoking area of the pub/restaurant that was attached to the hotel which we thought wouldn't be so bad as we were out for most of the night anyway. However the bar was open until after 3am with people shouting etc right through until 3:30-4am when things finally went silent however this only lasted for around 20minutes as the hotel car park it seems is used by the locals as a doss area where for the rest of the night a number of people hurled abuse at each other with no one even bothering to move them on!!! Upon complaining to the hotel we were told the manager wasn't in and would call us I have so far not received a single call!!! Over all if you don't intend to sleep then it's not that bad a place but if sleep is your intention then forget it it's the worst place we've ever stayed in
Room was clean and had everything needed. Staff lovely and polite
Breakfast room awful. Altho breakfast nice. Needs a facelift
Breakfast was cold
In an unfortunate turn of event I was reaccommodated to this hotel. The reception and the room were very great. Good breakfast selection.
All was well until 11 pm when disco music was beating in every corner of my room. When I went downstairs to the basement bar and tried to talk to the party organiser, he very indifferently said ‘We have a license until two o’clock, come a join us.’ The party goers might have formed a major part of the hotel guests but for all other people the experience is totally disastrous, and the problem with thin wall is totally exposed. According to the reception the basement room belongs to ‘another functionality’, but according to the home page of the hotel website they ‘host’ a party night last Saturday of every month, so no excuses! And furthermore, the date of my stay was the first Saturday of the month and there should not be a party at all unless it’s a private event and I am the odd one out because of reaccommodation. After all, accepting bookings into the hotel while hosting a noisy party in the bar with only thin walls in between is very unacceptable and it felt like a trap to me. I recommend anyone interested in booking this hotel to phone in and ask if there's a party going on downstairs before making your choice.
The rooms and bedding were clean and fresh. The choice of breakfast was good and the food cooked really well.
Just a little shabby in the corridors and the lift definitely needs replacing.
Wqlkable distance to city centre' Large frre car park. Very nice Pub bar
I'm not sure where all the negative reviewers stayed but the hotel I stayed in had a spotlessly clean room with modern decor, flat screen tv. The breakfast was excellent. Full english cooked to your taste with, serial, a choice of fruit and several fruit juices. All staff were polite and helpful
Mattress was a bit hard but nothing major.
Room was very clean, fresh and well furnished with all the facilities you need for a comfortable stay in Derby. The bathroom was clean and well equipped. We received a pleasant greeting and were issued with free wifi codes on our entry, the literature in the room contained everything you need to know or places to visit which was very impressive. The breakfast in the morning included in the price was fabulous! Best cooked breakfast we have had in a long time and full compliments to the chef, who was consistently checking it. All in all in our opinion a lovely stay for a great price!
The rooms were lovely nice n modern n clean wiv a good size tv on wall n very friendly people in hotel n bar next door
The breakfast was cold n not good quality be better if u ordered n got it fresh
It was a good hotel in an excellent location in Derby not far from the centre. The room facilities were very good for the price. The room was warm, the bed was comfy and the shower was hot in the morning. The receptionist was very bubbly and made check-in a pleasure.
The dining room staff in the morning for breakfast did not look too happy with their job at all! Also, we were in a room on the1st floor which had the kitchen extractor fan on the outside wall. It sounded like a washing machine on a spin cycle up until midnight when it stopped and then it started again at 6am the following morning! Needless to say we did not get a good nights sleep. We did report it to reception and were told that it should not have been on at that time!
