Score from 620 reviews Excellent
The ventilation unit was untidy
swiftness of check in
bad décor and door didn't lock
My only problem is that the WiFi signal at least from our room) was very poor and continually disconnecting/reconnecting. This may be problematic especially for a short business stay. I am not sure how the signal strength is in other rooms. It is however excellent in the lobby and restaurant.
Clean large rooms.
The hotel was shabby and tired. The carpets were worn and bedding had rips and holes. Breakfast was very greasy and the dining room was grubby. The gents toilets in the lobby were dirty and in need of maintenance.
No proper lounge area sports bar with fowl language guests very uncomfortable time couldn't wait to leave. Dirty glasses dirty dishes breakfast already pre-cooked looked disgusting filthy car park steer clear wouldn't recommend.
The Hotel was clean and very good value for money much better than others I've stayed in at Derby.
Was easy to find, had extra pillows nice big tv was cheap and clean , staff were very helpful , extra fan heater in room was nice and warm . 11.00 am check out was great so didn't feel rushed, will use again but will request a room not over looking the car park.
Lots of work men in and out all night, lots of vans coming and going from car park so very noise, went down for Breakfast at 8.45 and it was cold even the hot water for coffee. Wifi didn't work
newly refurbished room and en suite, very clean
Value for money, Good location, close to Derby city centre. Comfortable, well equipped room. Friendly staff. We were surprised to see that hotel bar is under a different management and hope it works. We would recommend this hotel to friends and family.
We understand that the hotel is going through refurbishment, but our room 202 radiator was not attached to the wall, therefore risk of radiator falling on the person trying to set the timings. Parking: we have stayed in the hotel on many occasions over the years and there are no parking issues but the path leading to the park in area requires maintenance as it's quite steep when walking up it and down during the winter weather. I hope it is on the list of things to do.
Breakfast was poor quality, dry bacon, hard eggs, cheap sausages.
Location and friendly staff.
Outside could do with a general tidy up and hotel needs some t.l.c.
Very very noisey I wasn't told they were renovating the restaurant! I have put in a complaint to get my money back. It's not great location as you will need to get a taxi anywhere also the cleaner had left my room open and was cleaning the bathroom I just went in and sat down and waited for her to leave that makes me think that all my belongings were unsafe if anyone can enter the room while they are cleaning.Even the cleaners made so much noise. The toilet had no curtains or blinds on the window. Shower heads were impractical.Tiles were dirty and it was cold had to put the heater on full the whole time and when i came back the staff had turned the heater off and opened the window leaving it open. There was one plug socket that wasn't near the bed or desk. There wasn't really a view.
Clean large room.
Noise.not sure where the noise comes from. Sounds like aircon or hotel fridge. Probably the latter. Note to the manager. Forget the English breakfast it's not working as noted by many of your customers in the reviews. Instead concentrate on the continental breakfast. One of the worst breakfast I have had on my travels, in a dinning room that looks like a dimmly lit store room. It felt like the hotel is running at 50% of its capabilities. Shame.
It was cheap and had parking
Although room looked recently refurbished, there where holes in the wall where a TV mount had been moves, something sticky all over one wall. The Free WiFi was not accessible in my room. Breakfast was not the best plates seemed dirty and far too hot. The food didn't taste that good either
Clean and spacious room; friendly staff on arrival. Facilities in room were good - better than in many. Considering the price we were very pleased by standard of room, level of cleanliness and overall experience. Parking a bonus as was late check-in.
Breakfast room cold and lacking care. Food was okay although hot buffet had been sitting in hot trays for a while. Some cutlery not that clean. Fresh tea and coffee would have been appreciated rather than flask of hot water and tea bags and coffee sachets.
Decor needs sorting Breakfast wasn't great wasn't hot and lay out was poor Place is dated damage to mirror in lift 2 plug sockets across the other side of the room so couldn't charge phone iPad while with it next to the bed. Modern days we have many electrical appliances so this needs looking into
wifi wasnt working in rooms and beds wasnt comfortable that much
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful - the breakfast was a "proper English"... lots of choice, which was excellent. Beds were comfortable.. and shower was brilliant. Plenty of spray and hot water! It was perfect for one night. Don't be put off by my negative comments.. these are just meant for the hotel to "tweak".. We paid £98 for two rooms B&B so I can't complain about the price.
The duvet was very thin on what was one of the coldest nights of the year, however we did manage to turn on the heating in our room and found a blanket in the cupboard. There were no blinds on the window. so when the curtains were open, they room was exposed to the main road. The loo roll was on the back of the cistern (the holder was broken) and subsequently the loo seat was broken where people were twisting to get to the loo roll.
Bed decent, bathroom and using the bath was lovely!
heating not on, and due to refurb the restaurant was pretty shabby.
Very nice good value English clean and comfortable
Car park big hill down very tiered after driving many miles came as a surprize
My bedroom was ungraded but not the bathroom. But generally it was acceptable. Great view over the city at breakfast.
Very good breakfast, rooms spotless, staff bright cheerful helpful
Nothing not to like
