Arriving late at night after a very long journey we were warmly greeted by David and instantly felt at home. The night cap & homemade cake was very much appreciated! Accommodation & breakfast were first class. Shelagh was an excellent host. An ideal base for climbing Scafell Pike. Hope to return.

Irt Valley View is a gem! Nestled away down a little lane but with easy acess to the main road. Lovely views, relaxed atmosphere prefect place to chill after a hectic day working at Sellafield or enjoying your holiday. Breakfast delicious, accommodation spotless, fresh and airy, hospitality second to none. Brilliant!

A unique place to stay being independent of the owners house and having its own double aspect and comfortably furnised breakfast and sitting room opening onto a private garden area. Plus; great breakfast and a very friendly hostess. Good quality pub and bistro food on the doorstep.

Fantastic B&B. The room was spacious and the bed extremely comfortable. The landlady was extremely welcoming and Went the extra mike to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Great bed, lovely bathroom with roll top bath and walk in shower. Lovely location and while we were there, perfect for a walk down to the river to share a glass of wine on a beautiful summer evening. Lovely breakfast made even better by home made toast each morning and seeing a red squirrel enjoying his breakfast in the garden one morning.

The best B&B ever! The rooms were exceptionally comfortable; the additional thoughtful services like tea and 'night cap', Shelagh and David's wonderful hospitality just made the two nights stay better than ever! Breakfast was extremely enjoyable with the unforgettable home made toasts! This is definitely the place I will come back again and recommend to anyone who's asking for a memorable stay in the beautiful lake district area. It was just too bad we missed out on the red squirrels.. ;)

The attention to detail was exceptional, Shelagh really went out of her way to make sure we had everything we need including booking us a table at the local but which served an excellence meal. As we were staying the night before a long cycle ride she made sure we would have everything we needed for a 5am start , and also made us sandwiches to take with us. Shelagh is an exceptional host and it is clear Irt Valley is more than just a business to her.

Really comfortable stay - Shelagh was very welcoming. Nice peaceful location at the edge of the national park, with the beach only a few minutes away and a shortish drive in to the western fells (Eskdale, Wasdale etc.). The accommodation was really excellent including a spacious, comfortable living/breakfast room which I was lucky enough to have to myself during my stay.

Definitely one of the best B&B's we have ever stayed in. Shelagh and David were very welcoming hosts and couldn't do enough for us! The double room we stayed in was very spacious and comfortable. The added extras like the tea tray with home made cakes and the "night cap" were an added bonus. It was worth every penny we paid and more. The breakfast was excellent and certainly set us up for a day's walking in this beautiful area. When we left after our two night stay, it was like leaving old friends. We will most definitely be returning.

Can't find anything negative to say!!!!

This is a lovely, clean B&B, which is well run by hospitable hosts who go the extra mile to make your stay enjoyable and provide extra touches to make you feel at home. The views and location are fabulous, very quiet and peaceful. If you travel as a party of four or six you will be lucky enough to have the accommodation to yourself and the owners live next door. There was a huge range of food available for breakfast from the full English to fruit and yogurt, all freshly cooked and prepared to order. We hope to stay there again soon. Thank you Shelagh.

There was nothing we disliked about our stay.

Within the small hamlet of Holmrook lies the Irt Valley View. It certainly lives up to its name with a stunning landscape and beautiful self-contained accommodation it’s a perfect place to recharge your batteries. The Irt Valley View is owned by Shelagh and David. David takes care of the acres of forestry that surround the property, and enjoys making your freshly squeezed orange juice. Sheilagh is a brilliant host and she’s thought of everything from the traditional Cumbrian breakfast with locally sourced products, to homely comforts such as fluffy bathrobes and towels. On your return to your room after a day of sightseeing lovely homemade cakes are placed on the dressing table. She even offers you a wee nightcap of your choice before you turn in for the night. The King sized bed was very comfortable and if you stay in this room you even have your own roll-topped bath! Luxury at its best. Downstairs is a large cozy living room with a wood burning stove for you to relax in front of at the end of the day – bliss! We give this hotel 10 out of 10. They deserve it.

The accommodation was exceptionally clean, it was also very spacious, and the bed very comfortable. Shelagh and David were very helpful, and there were some really nice personal touches that just made the stay so much more enjoyable; a little nightcap and homemade cakes in the bedroom, to mention but a few! And the breakfasts were very good-they set us up for the day ahead, and even here the presentation made a difference; not just a glass of juice, but a glass of juice with a selection of fresh fruit-it was all nicely thought out, and we will definitely return to Irt Valley View.

Nothing! We couldn't fault the property or the owners; they were most helpful, pleasant, and courteous.
