Score from 271 reviews Superb
The Regent Hotel is prominently situated at the head of Oban's north pier and is close to the shopping centre.
Score from 407 reviews Good
A Victorian Hotel built between 1865 and 1901, the Columba Hotel overlooks the town of Oban and Oban Bay. It has a 24-hour front desk, a traditional restaurant and 2 bars.
Score from 459 reviews Good
With panoramic views of rugged mountains, pretty lochs, and tranquil islands, this 4-star country house hotel is just 6 miles from Oban in Scotland.
Score from 133 reviews Very good
Location food friendly staff and the pool
Noisy corridor and a few things in the room not right but we did inform the staff
Excellent location, pleasant walk down to the sea, good food from the bar.
Loved the location and comfortable feel of the hotel. Facilities are good. Food in the Restaurant was excellent.
Swimming pool should open at 7.30 a.m. to allow a swim before breakfast.
The new taster menu for the evening meal was different, breakfast was self service with a great selection bar area has fantastic views down the sound
don't expect power showers as they have very low water pressure but that is not an issue showers work just not strong.
Road to Tobermoray
Restaurant Staff were excellent. Spa was nice but needs a bit of TLC Staff in Spa were excellent. It is an excellent location for visiting Mull.
Hotel needs a bit of an upgrade- Décor, Furnishings etc. Shampoo etc. only given out on first day. All the room keys fit any door. - NOT GOOD. !!!! Spa needs a wee bit of attention. Hairdryers in Spa not working There are no Private showers in Spa.
Great location, great views from the room and a fabulous breakfast. My 7 year old son and I really enjoyed the indoor pool and the only disappointment was that he was too young to enjoy the Jacuzzi.
Good hotel. Staff lovely. Morag who runs the spa is fantastic. She made our holiday. Food was really nice, 6 course taster menu each night.
Restaurant staff esp head. Choice of bar food as option. Location for early ferry.
Not enough info on spa and leisure use. Could I have gone for a steam room visit anytime for free? Some pre advice on ferry bookings would have been helpful
Location good next to the ferry pier
Old and not so clean. Poor service, bad smell in our room and the corridor next to it. Hotel is claiming there is wi-if when there is absolutely none. Bathrooms really need to be freshened . Overall, very expensive and no good value for money.
Bedrooms looking over sea. Bar lounge and breakfast room sea views.
Some staff attitude. Wifi access in lounge and not in bedroom.
Overall the hotel and spa was good. The meals we're delicious
The fan in toilet didn't work, the bed was squeaky
The location is great as was the food,
Very poor management & disorganised staff.....nobody appeared to know what their particular role was thus resulting in confusion! The hotel itself is very dated & tired. It would benefit from a complete makeover including the majority of the staff with the exception of Vernon who was very professional & helpful.
Pool, hot tub & spa Comfortable room & beds Decor View with gardens to beach
Carrying luggage up & down stairs
Bedroom handles old fashioned and difficult to lock.
If you can ignore first impressions of the dingy exterior and entrance, you'll be rewarded with the perfectly framed and stunning views across to the mainland, Duart Castle and the ferry traversing back and forth to Oban. The food is very good, as is the service. But the things that let this hotel down were the desperately creaky floors above our room above and rubbish wifi which was only accessible, sometimes, in the public areas. The swimming pool, sauna and steam room were well maintained and putting the jacuzzi hot tub outside was inspired but rather odd only to have showers poolside. When it says the spa closes at 7.30, it means they start shutting things down just after 7.15 so time your visit carefully! All in all though the kids and I enjoyed our stay and very convenient for both the Fishnish and Craignure ferries (Tobermory is only half an hour drive away if like us you want to catch the ferry to visit the most westerly lighthouse in Ardnamurchan)
Creaky floors above our bedroom
grounds were very pretty. quite nice restaurant. mostly wonderful staff.
no elevator. long walk to my room shlepping baggage and having to negotiate stairs. no staff to help. (although at checkout i was able to get some help). pool closes too early.
Location on Mull!
- dirty - needs a renovation - staff/ managment is lazy - restaurant bad value for money - you can hear every noise your neighbor does in the bed
Decor and ambiance of the hotel.
No lift to floors all staircases.
The service in the restaurant was very good the staff pleasant and helpful tho' I felt maybe a couple of extras would have helped the load. The food was very good and breakfast plentiful. We sat in the downstairs closed bar in the evenings which was nice and quiet.
The restaurant was very noisy a bit like a canteen they did have 3 coach parties in one of the nights we were there so very busy and a couple for the other nights. Maybe some dividers or baffling on the walls would help with the noise levels. I also felt that the bathrooms were in need of a good clean up looking rather tired. The spa was not open when I wanted to use the pool.
Rooms were available at the very short notice. The view from the restaurant and observation lodge is grand.
It is as dull and uninspiring as any big hotel used by budget bus tours operators. You will get much more and cheaper staying in B&B - there are plenty of them on the island. The telephone number provided in booking was out of service. Upper light in the toilet and desk lamp were not working.
Excellent location Good facilities Outstanding views Friendly staff Excellent food
Tired condition of fabric High costs at bar
Everything a hotel should be for a one night stay
The facilities were very old and in need of updating. The staff seemed gloomy and not friendly. Very noisy which made sleeping difficult--I could hear our neighbor's conversations very clearly. Wifi was slow even in the main area.
