Superb spacious room. Lovely breakfast, best sausages I have had in a long while!
The extractor fan runs for 20 minutes after using the bathroom and switching off the bathroom lights, not good for getting back to sleep after using the bathroom.
Very friendly staff
WIthin walking distance of Oulton Broad Attentive staff Great food
Staff were mostly keen and willing to serve. The accommodation is excellent, we stayed in an executive suite which is well worth the addittonal cost
We have stayed several times before, but on this occasion the meals did not seem to be up to the previous standard. Hopefully this was just a short lived problem.
staff was very helpful a food vas excellent and the grounds , bedrooms ,bar and restaurant were spotlessly clean .we will go to Ivy House again in the future .
The entire experience, the staff and the facilities
Being called at 2am by someone saying hello and thats it
beautiful new bar/bistro, still very peaceful (new keen owner). very nice friendly forgetful staff . lovely food.Nice rooms .
One of the receptionist (blond lady) being short of calling me a liar about not booking our dog prior to arrival, which we did .A big temporary white marquee spoiling the peaceful settings .
My girlfriend is vegan ..nothing on menu..but chef conjured up an amazing dish absolutely well presented and very tasty ....that's difference between employing a CHEF and a cook ...quality hotel has lovely grounds so relaxing and quiet
Not being able to stay longer..
The location was perfect and the staff could not have been more helpful and always served with a smile. Fully recommend this hotel.
Location, service, food.
Being woken up at 5-00am by my neighbour flushing the toilet causing my shower head to dispurse water from a height into the bath. Then banging doors etc, but I guess that's hotel life
Young waiting staff were attentive and polite. Grounds are beautiful. good parking facilities excellent breakfast
Bathroom was a joke (have seen better in places that are 1/3 of the price) dirty sink, broken flush, door didn't shut. Shower pressure was very weak! thinnest walls of any hotel we've stayed in and we were woken both mornings at 630 by neighbouring room talking/using their very loud bathroom. Room was not very clean - dead flies and a dead beetle (we named him John) by the window. we ate in the restaurant on our first night and although the staff were great, we were rushed through despite the place being empty. whilst my food was fine, my wife had the blandest duck, which was overcooked when she asked for medium. Have never written negative review before but anniversary was very nearly ruined by this expensive disappointment.
Room quality was excellent, spacious, comfortable Good food in the restaurant Good breakfast, food and service Beautiful location
Water pressure in shower was poor Restaurant food was overpriced
The upgrade after our complaint
The cost v executive room with garden view which was nothing more than shingle and a marquee. There were a lot of bugs in the room, no safe or mini bar. Not worth the extra cost over a standard room
Quality Hotel in beautiful surroundings.
No Air Conditioning or ceiling fan in room.
Location Style of accommodation Restaurant and Bar A first class example of 'Excellent Customer Service'
It's difficult to not like anything with this hotel because everyone tries hard in the team to give guests an excellent & friendly experience. An observation would be that there needs to be a little fine tuning in the gardens/outside areas to get them and the grounds/ buildings into tip-top shape i.e. weeding in bedding areas
Restaurant and food
The hotel lets itself down with lots of small things that are not 'quite' right. We had bought an executive room boasting views of the garden when in fact they had erected a marquee which obliterated any potential views so all we could see were parked cars. The room had a musty smell on arrival with signs of damp on one wall. There was a fairly loud intermittent humming sound at all hours of the day and night coming from what I'm guessing was a pump in the cleaners store next door. In the morning the cleaners had just left their trolley parked outside of our room. The garden needs a little love as it looks a little unkempt. Small touches in the room would help, one example being that the cleaner had removed a tissue from our tissue box to arrange it 'prettily' - only thing is they didn't notice it was the only tissue in the box! Overall, a pleasant enough stay but falling short of what I have come to expect for £170 per night.
The quietness of my room, and the privacy. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Beautiful location. Quiet. Would be ideal for events e.g. weddings
The peacefulness of the whole hotel where it is situated, and helpfulness of all staff
Friendly staff, location, peaceful..
No hand assist in the shower
The hotel is down the end of a private road and is set is lovely gardens. My room was quite big as was the bathroom and both were very clean. The staff were polite and cheerful.
My room was a bit dark and gloomy.
The bed was brilliant
Yellow stains all over the chairs in the rooms, shower quite often went cold and the breakfast was awfully small
Excellent staff and service Food was good Location excellent Rooms were comfortable apart from unfortunate lack of heat and hot water (see below)
The only problem we had was that the heating wasn't working in our room on what was a cold night, and there was no hot water in the morning. Although the hotel let us use another room for showering in the morning, it was disappointing that we had complained the night before about the lack of heating and it was only the next morning they realised the boiler had been switched off for our rooms. This was the only thing that spoilt what was an otherwise excellent stay, and for the money we would have expected a bit better.
The cleanliness of the rooms and the whole package.
