Lovely room with a fabulous view. Bed comfy and cosy. Bathroom was nice with a good shower. Great breakfast. Location was brilliant. A real joy to wake up on the harbour side.
Landing was a dark at night. More coffee sachets please.
high standard of rooms etc.
Good views to harbour poor quality furniture given price
location was handy lovely comfortable room very clean walking distance to sea front shops. Bus goes right by hotel handy if you want a ride to other side of Scarborough
There are narrows stairs to rooms which could be a disadvantage to older people. No parking outside hotel but car park is a short walk down side street.
Fantastic location, room was clean comfortable and well decorated. We stayed in the family room and my son loved the little upstairs area. Breakfast was excellent.
No view of the front in the family room. The video player didn't work.
Views of harbour from bedrooms. Efficient staff directed us to nearby parking and explained how to use rear door at night etc- all for our convenience and much appreciated. Vegetarian breakfast on the menu too! Free wi fi and bright spacious rooms.
Nothing at all
The flat was immaculate and very well furnished. Bedding was spotless and beds comfortable. Kitchen was fully equipped and had everything you could possibly need or want. Would book again and again
Nothing to complain about
Beautiful location. Quaint charm.
Staff a bit disorganized. Bed just OK.
Room 2 was very nice with a lovely view. Room facilities were good. No restrictions on coming and going. Right on the Waterfront.
Had to use public car park. Breakfast did not start until 9 a.m.
Ivy House is perfectly situated close to Scarborough funfair and amusements, it is in the heart of things. The family room we had was perfect for us - two adults and one child, with the child's bed upstairs on a platform rather like a Gemini flat. Shower was great, view fine overlooking a quiet street. I could find nothing to complain about so I won't. I loved it here.
The cold tap made a rather scary noise lol
Very clean, brilliant family room, good service, enjoyed the evening meal in cafe. Lovely breakfast. .
We stayed in room 6 the captains suite lovley room the bed was so comfy and all in a great location
Stayed in the Captains room with unbeatable views onto the Harbour.. fantastic room & a great place to stay. Full english breakfast was very nice.
View, friendliness, location
Lack of parking
Room furnishings were of high standard. Staff were very helpful. Views excellent, very clean facilities. Good sea front location.
The stairs were very steep- even for the able bodied.
Love the deluxe room. Have stayed here before and would always book this room. Overlooks the sea - absolutely beautiful.
When we stayed before everything felt very 'luxurious'. However, this time we noticed that it looked like some cutbacks had been made - cheap toilet roll; old towels; ratty bath mat etc. It was still nice - but not as! Also, it was a real shame that they didn't actually have our booking down in their book. We booked two months ago - if the room we wanted had been taken it would have been very very disappointing. Staff handled it ok - but could have been better.
Close to beech and restaurants super for the children
Close to Scarborough castle and walking distance for seafront attractions. Was made to feel very welcome and excellent breakfast. Stayed for two nights in the family room which my daughter loved.
Parking was the only negative. After looking for a space for quite sometime around midday we came across a back street pay and display carpark which cost only £6.50 for 24hr parking.
The room was lovely, very clean and comfortable. The full English breakfast was good in the mornings. The view across the harbour was beautiful and the property is well located for seeing Scarborough on foot.
Small hassle on parking the car as there is no parking on the property and car parking near the property was full during the day.
Harbour setting was beautiful. Black pearl suite was AMAZING. Bed was very comfortable. Staff very polite & helpful. Breakfast was brilliant.
Car parking, although this is out of the establishments hands really.
Food, Staff, bedroom everything about the place was really nice, it made a change from those large hotel chains. Staff were so polite and eager to please.
Stupid comments by other reviews. This is a lovely place to stay.
Really clean, nicely decorated, appreciated the extras such as dvds and games and colouring books for the children. Also the tea bags, milk and biscuits left in the kitchen where appreciated after a long journey.
Nothing to do with the accommodation but the noise from the seagulls was incessant and it really disturbed your nights sleep. I suppose if you go to the seaside its to be expected not a lot you can do!!!
Good location. Spacious room.
The fact that we had to pay an extra £40 for a camp bed for our granddaughter. Almost nothing in the room was replenished for the second night. We had a long journey ahead the morning that we were leaving but there was nobody around to give us breakfast (8.45) so we had to leave without. Also the "bath " towels were tiny! Also TV was very small for the size of the room.
The location and views were nice The suite was lovely and spotlessly clean The breakfast was nice I was given a cup of decaffeinated coffee as they were unable to provide sachets
Ivy House is noted on the site as a hotel but it isn't. It is a B&B charging the same rate as hotels in Edinburgh during Festival period but did offer any of the services of a hotel. There was no 24hr reception, no lift, no decaffeinated coffee, the cafe/restaurant closed before 9pm The mini bar was very expensive. The street lights were very intrusive and there should have been black out curtains/blinds The bed was too low,too soft and very uncomfotable
The location .staff . THE ROOM.
The bean that was dropped on the foot of the breakfast table and it was still there the next morning let it down
