Paul (who owns the guest house) is a friendly and very helpful individual where nothing is too much trouble.. he also cooks an excellent breakfast,
The road where the guest house is situated can be noisy so if you have problems sleeping you might wish to ask for a room towards the back.
Booked a flat. It was nicely decorated. Kitchen well equipped for simple meals like breakfast. Nice backdoor garden.
The flat only has windows in the bedroom. The flat entrance had severe humidity problems.
Close to venue for the event we were attending Umbrellas lent to us when it rained! Helpful staff
Parking limited Very small shower, not en-suite
good location if you have a car as you can leave it there and take the tram into city. The place is clean and the bed is comfortable and the breakfast very nice. The staff are very friendly and helpful
Value for money, bed, clean
No car park, only for 3 cars, did not see any member of the guest house during my stay you collect keys and you leave you keys, so you don't see any staff
This is an excellent location for those wanting easy access to the Salford Royal & links into the city. The rooms are comfortable and the owners are also very helpful and accommodating
Laminate flooring was a little noisy but this isn't a big issue
Location Value for money Friendly, helpful owner Early check in
Only 2 pillows No full length mirror A few minor inconsistencies
- Very hospitable host - Good organisation of the Guest House operation is the result of his personal efforts - first class quality, cleanliness and tasty food for reasonable money - staff is friendly and smiling
- I wish I could have stayed at the Ivy Mount Guest house longer, but unfortunately I had to leave
I recently stayed at the Ivy Mount Guest House. It was my first visit to Manchester. From the moment I arrived I was given a great welcome. Paul could not do enough for me. He was really welcoming. The room was immaculate, and done to a high standard. The breakfast was delicious. I highly recommend that if you visit Manchester, that you stay at the Ivy Mount. It was a great stay and the the people of Manchester are very welcoming. I will definitely be visiting again. Peter.
Not a bad location if you don't want to stay in the hustle/bustle of the Ciry Centre. Though the local city centre Eccles looks like the town that time forgot. Could easily get a hotel on the CC for similar price/night. Owner was very friendly and always on hand of you needed him.
One of our rooms had no mirror (vanity cabinet was broken). Communal toilet was under-stocked, (just loo roll and hand gel). Linen wasn't changed on the 3 days we stayed and there was an odd musky smell in our bedroom. Overall not 'bad' but you can get better value for your money else-where and far better value for money for just a bit more. V. Limited car parking.
The room was clean and comfortable and the host Hazel went out of her way to oblige, she made the stay .
As soon as I had booked I made a special request for my mother who is elderly and has arthritis in both her knees, to have a ground floor bedroom. There was no mention of steps leading up to the room and so this spoilt her visit, one of the slabs was broken as well. Mom found it very difficult to negotiate the stairs and so for that reason we will not be returning next year .As a teacher I was under the impression that ALL public building had to have disabled access. Hazel did ring on the Friday to alert us that there was steps -but that was far to late considering I had booked in May.
- The room is clean - Free WORKING WIFI - Train station nearby (approx. 8min walking) - Paul the owner is a GREAT guy, he is very friendly & his hospitality is AWESOME! He is very helpful and made my breakfast every morning, no standard breakfast anything you wanted to eat he prepares for you.
- very friendly host - free car park in front of building - close to highway and public transport - modern, renovated rooms - free and fast WLAN
- not enough warm water in shower and lavatory - breakfast was not included in price
The owner was friendly, the location was good, easy to find and fairly central to everything we wanted to do. Nice and clean
However, our room was so noisy! We were located right opersit the front door, the staircase, the shared bathroom, the breakfast room... Just when we finally got to sleep, the noise started again, at 6am! banging of doors creeking floors, taking, whistling right outside the bedroom door! The place was fair but if you decide to stay at the Ivy Mount just ensure your on the top, floor or trust me you won't be getting any sleep!
The owner was a really genuine and lovely guy - who was genuinely interested in making your staff as nice and as comfortable as possible.
Hazel was lovely she could not do enough to help me
The only thing that I didn't like was I never got my safe key code till late but it did get sorted in thr end
Hazel was warm, friendly and very helpful. Good location - proximity to Salford Royal Hospital. The apartment was spotless, cool and peaceful - and I could choose to arrange my own breakfast.
A slightly saggy bed was the only negative.
The staff were excellent, were genuinely friendly. The location was good and I was generally happy with everything.
Room was very hot and could have done with a fan or something?
I was looking forward to our stay in the Ivy mount guest house. I had received emails from the owner prior to my arrival giving me information about the house and the area which made me feel that this guesthouse was going to be as good as its reviews said it would be. I had booked a weekend in Manchester as a present to my mum for her 60th birthday. My mum, Dad, girlfriend and I were on the trip. I choose the Ivy Mount guest house based on the information provided by the owner and the reviews from previous customers. However upon arrival, it turned out to be a disaster from the word go. The owner was away on holidays and the person left in charge seemed to be under pressure, everything that was going wrong or that we asked for that couldn’t be done was fobbed off by a laugh and saying sorry about that.!!!! I called ahead to advise the time of our arrival. I was told that there would be keys left for us. I couldn’t gain access to the key safe so I had to call the guesthouse to get the reception person to come and let us in. We were then informed that we were not staying in the main guesthouse but in a building down the street. So my mum who has difficulty walking on steps and poor terrain had to walk all the way down the steps up the street and walk up across loose chippings up more steep steps to get to the building where our rooms were. Our rooms were very clean with comfortable beds. Each room had a mini bar. There was also tea making facilities but it was only possible to fill the kettle with a cup from the sink as the sink was too small to even fill the kettle from it. The en-suite bathrooms had great showers but the sinks & mirrors were very small. There was a lack of shelving to place any items.
Location owner Paul very helpful
Quality of mattress and bedding very poor had to sleep on top of quilt so I couldn't feel the springs. Also very noisy but it is a house no shelf for toiletries in bathroom, blinds at windows inadequate for purpose.
Very well maintained, Paul was excellent as a host, called to confirm booking, ensure we had address etc, discussed anything we may need prior to arrival, superb customer care, rooms well equipped well maintained and very confortble would stay again.
Paul was great. Made a breakfast sandwich to go even though it wasn't on the menu and it was delicious. All around good stuff.
Paul was brilliant, very easy safe key check in process, i arrived at almost midnight and was able to collect my key and go straight up to bed!
The only negative I would say (this is very picky) is that my bed was quite noisey, it didn't bother me in the slightest but I was cautious about the people below me being kept awake every time i moved. But like I said this is a very picky comment and i would give the Ivy Mount 99%!
Paul was very welcoming, nothing was too much trouble...
Don't normally complain but the bed in room 6 had a really loud squeak, every time I turned over it made one heck of a noise. Paul did say that he would check it out!
Bright clean room overlooking the garden. Friendly owner. Good quality breakfast, efficiently served.
Just the bathroom sink was very small ( but this was a small detail)
