Ivy Hotel  

Nice hotel and friendly staff

An excellent, charming and very friendly hotel. Perfect for visiting Swindon and the surrounding area. The food is good, the service was faultless and the staff very friendly. It's not the Ritz, but you are going to struggle to find a hotel any better than this in this price range. I have stayed in hotels at twice the price with half the service. I expect free WiFi these days and the Ivy provides this with excellent coverage across the whole hotel. Most of the big chains do not provide this expecting you to pay for bt Open Zone instead.

This is not really a negative comment, more an observation. Some of the fittings in the bathroom are perhaps becoming a bit worn. Nothing was wrong with them and everything worked just fine, endless hot water out of the hot tap and ditto the cold tap. But it all looked just a bit tired.

The room wasn't dark enough during the night because the curtains weren't thick enough. There was also a street lamp near the window which light the room during the night.

Good alround comfortable accommodation. Good food.

I got a room on the ground floor near reception on this occasion - much bigger and more comfortable than the more traditional upper floor rooms. Room was really comfortable. Great value for a 3 star hotel

Breakfast service is a bit slow and you have to wait for a cooked breakfast. If you just want cereal and fruit it's ideal.

Some menu items not available after ordering. Some staff were new and forgot some items.

The staff was very friendly. The accommodation was beautiful and the room was good. You also had an enormous choice for your breakfast.

Great room

Nothing the hotel is in need a make over everything is tired and dreary. The staff are in need of further and on going training.

Once again I say the the hotel is very tired,although the info given in the room booklet states that they strive for perfection, I am sorry to say in my opinion that falls very short. We were unable to have a shower on the first night night,due to low water pressure on the cold system,although we were compesated for that, it was not what I wanted. I have stayed here in the past and remember it was much better, may be it had just been refurbished.

It was convenient for raf Fairford at which we were visiting the Royal International Air Tattoo. We chose it because it looked nice on the website and wasn't part of a huge chain

We were unable to have breakfast before we left the hotel because it didn't start till 8.30 on a Sunday.
