    Nice room , polite staff, value for money, breakfast was excellent

    We ate out because there wasn't a great choice on the menu

    Grounds, staff, food, video game table area, beds - all excellent

    Pool is pleasant but potentially could do with a refurb and (minor and maybe just my room....) distinct lack of power sockets.

    Access by Taxi was expensive. Suggest you get a Shuttle Service for guests not travelling by car.

    Location, Fork Restaurant, Bar menu, all staff and outdoor facilities.

    Bedrooms and bathrooms were very tired. The restaurant food and service was good but very understaffed.

    A seamless check-in (we were early as we were going to Ascot Races, but this was absolutely no problem for the Reception staff who were extremely helpful and ensured that our luggage was delivered to our room before our return) provided a foretaste of the excellent service that we enjoyed at the Royal Berkshire. Our room was modern, spacious and well-appointed. The bed was supremely comfortable, giving us the best night's sleep that we have enjoyed in a long time (in fact, my wife made a note of the make of mattress, so that we can buy one for home!). Without exception, the Royal Berkshire's staff were impeccably well-mannered, pleasant and helpful. We were always greeted cheerily, even when just passing someone in the corridor. This small detail hallmarks the quality of service that we encountered at every level from a well-trained and highly motivated team that clearly enjoys giving their guests the best possible experience - even when the hotel is extremely busy. The Chef is extraordinarily talented. Although the dinner menu looks relatively uncomplicated, his/her execution of the dishes is nothing short of exquisite. There is also an in-house bakery - just another small touch that makes a difference. The discreetly attentive professionalism of the dining room staff ensured that we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. For example, our iced water jug (with slices of orange and lemon) was refreshed without our having to request it - a small but "telling" example of great service. A stroll round the impressive and immaculate gardens proved that the care and attention to detail we found inside the hotel is replicated in every part of this hotel. Unfortunately due to our tight schedule we did not have time to explore the Health Club facilities. In summary, I firmly believe that the Royal Berkshire sets and maintains a standard that other 4 star hotels should envy and aspire to.

    Scrambled eggs a little runny. Sadly no Gideon bible in the room.

    We always feel comfortable with the hotel as it has many memories for us.

    There seems to be a fall in quality in staff especially in the restaurant,the staff were not as attentive as we have enjoyed in the past.The breakfast was poor and there was no manager in control.

    Chap on reception for check-in very helpful Nice breakfast with staff on hand to help Veerrrrrrrrry comfy bed! Lovely tidy gardens and whole setting

    Mold around bath sealant Shower with only 2 temperatures. Very hot or skin-removal! 1 barman on in the bar with hundreds of guests staying (Ascot weekend and wedding as well!) Bar prices absolute rip off! £6 for a G&T, more for a pint of lager and the white wine came off the shelf not the fridge. When we asked for a cold one we were given a bucket of tap water to chill it! It was 27 degrees outside how is that going to work? Asked the barman if his bar manager would be happy with that kind of service being provided and he admitted he WAS the bar manager! Oh dear! Studied the menu and thought £14 for fish and chips was a tad steep so decided to go out to eat and have a few drinks but alas no-one at reception to assist. Waited 10 minutes with loads of staff passing me probably wondering why I was now sat behind reception with feet up on the desk looking bored but still they fetched no-one to assist me. Eventually young lady arrived and I have to say she was very helpful, booked our table at a lovely chinese place just down the road and a taxi to get there. I think basically the eye was taken off the ball with so many guests staying at the same time. Staff levels were just ridiculously low. If you were not there for the wedding (which looked lovely by the way, many congratulations to the happy couple) then you were not made to feel particularly welcome by some of the staff at all. A real shame that a weekend I booked as a surprise treat for my wife and friends to stay in an exclusive hotel with a day at Ascot was marred by things that should be totally avoidable at a venue described as "exclusive"

    We had a nights stay at the Royal Berkshire and a day at Ascot racecourse. The location was good, just a 5 minute drive from Ascot. The room was very comfortable although a little noisy as we were just above the entrance to the hotel. Breakfast was great, a good selection to choose from and help yourself. We had a great trip.

    Setting

    Room too hot. Service was poor. Waiting around to be served in the bar and at breakfast the next morning there seemed to be lot of staff but nobody bothered to look after guests.

    Idyllic location

    Rusty bath Dusty bedroom furniture Poor dining room/breakfast and bar service Having to wait 30 mins for a bottle of wine (3 times) one time reaching the end of our second course before our wine was opened Couldn't find the wine on the menu Was given the wrong drink we ordered No juice at breakfast had to wait 20 minutes after asking for a refill No butter at breakfast asked for some to no avail Being charged for dinner on check out when I'd already paid when booking! Rooms need updating decor in bathroom is poor for this star hotel Don't waste your money stay at the nearest travel lodge

    on arrival every table in the garden had dirty plates on them,only one member of staff in bar,serious lack of management,breakfast room full on arrival,told to go to buffet and take food into lounge.very dissapointed,will not be reccomended your hotel to anyone.
